Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

Dat Shun Gok Ooze Satsu.

I think we are getting a new hud. They probably will have all this stuff at final round imo.

as much i would like a new HUD its gonna be hard to replace the old one, its really well designed when you look at it, especially the EX bars

Maybe they should replace the word Combo next to the meter bar… it sounds so engrish. When it first came out my buddy who doesn’t play fighting games was like “Yo, how do you use combo?” and I didn’t understand what he meant… like how to do a combo? What? It was then I realized what he was talking about.

But yeah, I would really like a new character select screen… it would just make sense with a new iteration. AE was more of an expansion.

Just make the life bar actively warp around Hugo’s fat head.

Sorry I meant a new screen select.

The current HUD is excellent, honestly the only thing I would change about it at this point is putting the character’s stun bar underneath their life bar ala Third Strike’s HUD.

I kind of like the idea of no stun bars…

It makes the game less of a turtle fest, since people will just have feel the stun coming and not know the exact moment they are probably going to get stunned.
It also add’s randomness and hype during tournaments, where during a high level matches on rare occasion, you’ll hear this from the commentators and the crowd: " WHAT!? THAT STUNNED HIM!?" Boom, nobody had any idea player A was still in stun range.

I literally can’t remember a single instance where that happened.

Yeah…it’s pretty rare to not notice someone’s in Stun Range.

Its not that difficult to tell when you are about to be stunned.

Obviously, even a little after just starting the game you would know when you are in stun range or not after losing a lot, but that’s not what i meant. After a bunch of blocking and the right moves with a lot of stun, it will happen out of nowhere on like i said before RARE occassion. I know some one gets what i mean. Literally thinking you are in the clear, but the opponent is doing such a good job just poking at you with normals and getting in for a good 15 seconds, and you are doing an amazing job blocking, then boom it happens, even when you you thought those little gaps in between when he was not forcing you into block stun was enough to lower the stun gauge during that pressure… ahh i’m bad at explaining little things most people don’t even notice.

You’re not bad at explaining, I just can’t recall a single time where that happened in a high level match.

It always surprises me when a gief or t. hawk gets stunned lol

Just to switch gears from the stun bar talk a bit. Some easy to implement things that I’m surprised Capcom hasn’t done yet…

  1. Endless battle. What really sucks about this, is only 2 people play, regardless of how many people are in the lobby. The rest sit and watch and wait their turn. Such a waste of time, which is why many play ranked instead. Well why can’t it be like Skullgirls lobbies? Everyone is randomly matched with another person in the lobby. If it is an odd number of people, the person left out could choose which match to spectate or perhaps even get to sit in training mode til the matches conclude.

  2. Separate ES and Ultra, and people can select what they want from the main menu. Play any mode they like ES style or Ultra style. Splitting the community isn’t a concern with SF4, the playerbase is enormous enough to support this.

  3. Use ping numbers instead of the generic bars. Would allow a much more accurate assessment of how good the connection is.

  4. Make KOF mode possible between 2 players instead of requiring 6. Have super meter carry over (Ultra meter would be reset), and health regened would be a percentage based on how many seconds it took you to KO your opponent.

Ping numbers instead of bars is probably the worst thing ever for such a heavy online dependent game

  • peoples would start kicking each others everywhere while they could have played normally with bars
  • we would probably have a chart telling that anything above 20ms is unplayable
  • input delay would probably be calculated at some point wich would result ^
  • high level players will never play anything other than best ping possible, low/mid level will never meet them again, no one level up
  • shit storm of crys because peoples getting kicked/ not being able to play
  • you cant go offline and play because you have average internet latency, the games is not popular enough, not every country has a scene
  • this is not counter strike ,dota, or LOL, we’re talking about a 60fps game, peoples are obsessed with frames ,input delay and such
  • oh i lost that game because i had 25ms instead of 20 !
  • capcom should ban 50ms players from ranked !
  • asking for everyone to have the best internet latency is unrealistic and technically impossible, not even in 15 years ahead from now

and the list can go on …

i experienced this latency elitism bullshit from other games and its the least thing i want to happen for SF, it can only cause rage, if you really want best condition possible you can play your friends , or even ping them , lags happen to everyone, lost couples of ranked matchs earlier today because of lags, but well no one died, dosnt happen everyday , i still had fun

If Capcom implemented training mode correctly… im hoping its like blazblue in which you could choose to spectate or go to training mode.

The entire point is the Arcade Atmosphere. It’s to give you incentive to actually win when you get up to play. If you don’t want to watch, go play Ranked or find a smaller Lobby.

Besides, forcing people to wait actually lets people study players and understand why they may have won or lost a match because lord knows most people probably don’t take the time out to watch their old replays.

so the solution to the games soso netcode is to obfuscate ping instead of inform people what will be a playable connection?

OH NOES NOW I CAN’T LAGGILY PLAY PR BALROG FROM THE MIDWEST ONCE IN AWHILE WHEN HE FORGETS MY GAMERTAG CAUSE THE GAME FUCKS UP PING CALCULATION AND SAYS I’M GREEN TO HIM :(((

The worst thing is losing in a big lobby, where you have to wait again, fuck that, that’s not an option. I remember not too long ago going through a bunch of 3800+PP players just to get a shot at fighting Valle and lost to this 4500PP Cody player just barely. -_- My dreams crushed
