Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

Practice for both.

Yeah cause edition select still has a chance of being less broken then marvel right?
Oh you know… some characters take off 300 damage with no effort, and some are already broken in old versions and with the discovery of unblockables they should still not be too bad right? Somewhere around the SS tier range… Why play USF4 where health and damage will make sense when we can just look forward to vanilla Sagat beating up on vanilla AE Guy. Hmm it’s going to be VERY hard for the community to choose which one we play seriously.

Ultra: tourneys.

Editon Select: just for fun.

There’s nothing wrong with Ultra being the Main Standard and Edition being run for Side Tourneys and Exhibitions.

There’s so many dream matches and exhibitions that can take place due to Edition Select that can fill up dead time for tourneys or fulfill some nice money matches. Not to mention all the runbacks. We even got a taste of it already with that Mike Ross/Gamerbee exhibition.

As long as Edition Select is a seperate mode I’m totally fine with this.

So I may be grasping really hard here but tell me what you guys think.
I noticed this at the end.

Thought it was a bit weird that it states only “Playstation” and not “PS3” while it does state “Xbox 360”.

I then went back and watched AE’s trailer and saw this.

Here it flat out says “PS3” rather than just “Playstation”.
Is there any reason why they would change it?
Now I know its been (obviously) hinted at a while that a PS4 port is happening but doesn’t this give more evidence pointing towards it?

This is easy to say, if you main a character, who had a very strong version like Vanilla Sagat and AE Yun and is now much weaker than the former version, still viable in USF4. But as someone, whose main character never had a Vanilla version and also never had a very strong version of him, I would hate the idea that tournaments would be only played in the Hyper SF mod. Why? Not only, because Capcom said that they try to make everybody viable, so that they can win tournaments, but also, because the strongest version of my main(USF4 version) was never meant to fight AE Yun or Vanilla Sagat. Even with those system changes, he couldn´t fight them.

It should be played for the lolz, but not seriously adopted for tournaments welp.

Thank you based capcom for letting me play AE Yang in all of his top tier glory

GASP! YOU DON’T SAY! This is why I don’t take what most ppl say here seriously… ;D

I just deleted the v2012 update from my 360 just to play as broken Yun again in training mode and against the CPU, my hands are fucking tingling! XD

It’s possible for some people to like one thing and some other people to not like it. Taking multiple differing opinions and generalizing them into one entity is a logical fallacy.

Can I used Edition Select mode in online player matches? Definitely an awesome option if yes.

Even if Editions Mode isn’t the tourney standard (and likely won’t be at least for a while) it’s still gonna be some hype as shit nonsense and is absolutely PERFECT for side tournies.

Also, boo tucking hoo for the international scene if it is used. We’ve had to put up with them getting head starts on us for years on shit, forgive me if my heart doesn’t go out to them if the ball is in our court for a change.

But but international players are the best! Who are we gonna learn from if daigo doesn’t show us the way???

Ultra Vanilla Sagat vs AE Yun Fighter 4: Fate of v2012 Cammy. -Shalaska

That room at SCR looked so unhype its not funny when they saw Vanilla Seth back.

Agreed. The Vanilla Characters are just too powerful in comparison to the Best characters from the later versions. Not you personally but I’ve seen a few people other people on here hyping about AE:Yun…to be honest, he was dominant in his respective game…but going up against the Vanilla Elites, I’m sorry, that won’t do.

Vanilla Sagat Tiger Uppercut into his Ultra did over 700 damage equating to you losing over 60%+ of your full health on command which I’m sorry to say, is absolutely ridiculous. 170 damage with a Tiger Uppercut? Lmao?

The other slept on Top Vanilla character that people aren’t talking about enough is Vanilla Ryu. If you Actually go back and look at the match ups for the tier-list at the end of Vanilla SF4s life, Ryu actually had better match ups against the Strongest Vanilla characters then Sagat actually did. Vanilla C.mk? This move made Ryu have the best footsies in the game, and a clear reason why it has never been this good since Vanilla. More invincibility frames on Shoryuken, not to mention having the Trade Ability of Vanilla which could then be punished by Metsu-Hadouken…this was removed in all newer versions because it was too good. Aerial Hurricane being a corner escape option, and Shoryuken Fadc into Ultra consuming half of an opponents life.

The Vanilla SF4 characters for the most part did significantly greater damage output, greater stun damage, better priority on their attacks and specials while certain characters also had more health and stun resistance.

I guarantee that the outcome would be similar to Hyper Street Fighter II which also sported All of the SF2 incaranations. Sure, ST. Dhalsim, ST. Balrog, and OG. Sagat were monsters in Super Turbo, but going up against the likes of CE. Ryu, CE. Dictator, CE. Sagat (Superior to OG Sagat), and CE. Guile, they are going to play second fiddle to these giants.

I’m 100% sure in my mind that Ultra Street Fighter IV will be the main tournament play itself, while this pseudo Mix-Em All Up SF4 incarnations will be a side tournament.

I’m actually referring to that wonderful phenomenon where people say they want something, get it, and realize they don’t anymore. kthx. <3

I don’t see people’s problem. it’s obvious whats going to happen.

Ultra will be the standard, version select will be for special events, casuals, etc. it’s not rocket science.

All this does is give a lot of fun options for exhibition matches and casual practice.

NOBODY in the pro scene is gonna want edition select as standard. trying to memorize 5 different versions of every matchup in the game at once is a bit much. it’s just a fun little thing they threw in for people to mess around with.

But Yun had a 15 frame active invisible wall that lead to 800 (situationally) without weirdly round damage up (like sagat 630=700). And if trade cr.HK into anything returns… At least this will be a fun casual mode.
