I think it’s a nice addition, it adds something unique into the game, it makes me think of senzu beans in Budokai 3. After watching the video it seems it is highly punishable, if i’m Seth I can fullscreen Ultra or wall jump into a big fat combo.
Just got home from DH, got to try it for about an hour (but watch it for a lot longer), this is what I found (I’m sure some of this has been mentioned already, but here goes):
Red Focus:
-Seems to be able to absorb an unlimited amount of hits, at least 13. Might have a move-limit instead of a hit-limit, but it can absorb at least 4 moves.
-Unlike normal lv.3 Focus, Lv.3 Red Focus has a gap before its active frames where it has no armor. This means you can’t use ut to power through multiple-hitting moves near the end.
-Both normal and EX Red Focus scale like normal focus attacks, but they do 50% more damage than normal FAs (maybe stun to, didn’t check that).
E.Ryu:
-Far MP xx HP can whiff with the 2nd hit on max range.
-LK Tatsu moves really far, seems like a sweet buff.
Seth:
-Unlike what I’ve been told before, he CAN still cancel into Tanden Engine.
Vega:
-RCF clarification: all non-EX RCF are terribly negative on hit, las thit can’t be cancelled. They are still safe on block though.
-RCF to super works if you cancel into it before the final hit.
-Confirmed c.LP links into U2 and c.HP.
E.Honda:
-Can use EX command grab to catch deep jump-ins.
Guile:
-U1 auto-corrects after the flash, before the first hit, hich makes it look kinda werid. Since it’s so fast now, it will still hit the opponent so that they’re behind Guile even after the auto-correct. Would make more sense if the 2nd flash kick was the one to auto-correct.
-Confirmed c.LP links into U1.
El Fuerte:
-Can link s.LK after c.HP.
-Can link far s.LP after Gordita Sobat (which should therefore be +6 now since far s.LP is slower)
-Gordita Sobat can be FADC’d into s.LK.
-Can combo into EX Guac from f.MK or any light.
-Dawgtanian told me that EX Guac hitting grounded was (or is planned to be) removed in a later build since it looks so wonky.
-cl.HP xx Run-stop, cl.HK probably won’t work, maybe on the right dummy.
T.Hawk:
-EX DP only seems to be FADC-able on block, don’t know if that was ever specified.
Hugo:
-Super has no or very brief invincibility, got hit out of it on start-up constantly.
-Wasn’t able to combo Suepr into U2 (but maybe I just didn’t have enough attempts)
-U2 has a really precise angle, more horizontal than T.Hawk’s U2. Command is QCFx2+KKK, making it easier to do on reaction.
-c.HP sends the opponent in a crappy angle, s.HK can’t be DI’d when airborne.
-f.HP knocks away on counterhit.
-Can combo Ultra throw into LK lariat when spaced correctly.
-Clap does not cause float on airhit, just normal knockdown.
-SPD doesn’t leave enough time to do a jump-in set-up, but a perfect amount of time to whiff a clap and then SPD them again, or whatever you want.
-Blocked light cancelled into 360+LK is ridiculous. You might even be able to cancel it into DP+K to catch people trying to jump away.
-EX Lariat has super armor.
-Clap can be cancelled into EX RFA.
-Doesn’t seem to be able to combo clap after a jump-in, at least not without CH.
Poison:
-cl.HK (1st hit), c.HK, cl.MK, and far s.MK special cancellable. (cl.HK glitched and doesn’t cancel into QCF+P)
-She can do EX Rekkas, LK DP xx FADC, Normal or EX Rekka (2 hits) or QCF+22 (two hits). Forgot to check U1.
-Seemingly can’t FADC HK DP, but she can Super cancel it.
Rolento:
-U2 has the “can’t hit airborne” property, cannot hit during late part of FA or after EX Patriot circle. Heard it links after some counterhit normals though.
-CH s.HK, s.HK works.
-Seems like you can’t combo after full Rekka xx FADC; but maybe I just timed it wrong, only tried once.
Elena:
-cl.HK currently glitched, doesn’t cancel into Lynx Tail.
-HK Lynx Tail can be FADC’d or comboed into lv.2 EX FA on the 2nd hit. “(s.MP xx RDP+HK xx lv.2 FA)x2, U1” is possible.
-Doesn’t seem to be able to link a light into a medium.
-Seemingly can’t FADC HK DP.
-Can link after LK DP xx FADC (leaves them grounded).
-EX Mallet Smash doesn’t seem to combo from lights, when over opponent when tried from s.MP.
Elena looks really unfinished so far, and I’m not even talking her gameplay.
The impact on her moves and even some animations are really… off. They’re not even those from sfxtk, which looked cool even if they would look off in usf4 as well for the most part.
Here’s hoping they fix this problem soon. Rolento and Poison also has a bit of this, but theirs aren’t this bad. Hugo looks amazing to me for what I saw.
Mallet Smash is so fast… it’s crazy to think that some versions are still + on block like in sfxtk. She’ll probably be a beast.
Combofiend said Elena is probably the less polished character yet.
Peter did say right away when he was about to use her that she still needed some work so it’s no surprise.
But if she keeps a good amount of what she has now? I mean, damn. Being in her s.LK grillhouse is just as dangerous as it is in xT.
What normals did you use to cancel into Tanden Engine? If you remember.
c.HP into EX, then I tried c.MK, c.MP and/or some Lights into normal tanden.
Wonder what the thought behind rcf being so neg on hit is.
Honestly? if they buff Gief’s LP SPD slightly (maybe just go from 1.60 to 1.65 like in Super, 1.70 at most) I can see him being really really damn strong. Landed EX GH > 3 LP GH’s = Corner sounds pretty damn fun to do.
I’m hype.
Still not a fan of negative on hit but I think it’s fine enough at -2F since they did it through reduced recovery rather than blockstun it means that he can use LP GH a lot easier and safer. However I agree. 1.75 might have been a bit much for his LP SPD with these changes (MIGHT) but I don’t see why they needed to reduce it to less than it was in Super. 1.65 would be fine.
[details=Spoiler]They managed to sneak Megaman into SF4

[/details]
UltraChen said it was -8 on hit.
Must be a mistake, then again Gief’s standing medium kick is massive negative too for some reason so…
chen said it was a bug for RCF. wont be that way in the final build
Ok is there any confirmation that all the tested versions are the same, the early news from the japanese loketest had different info (example Poison can’t combo into rekka’s !! - Seth can’t cancel into tanden ? etc… )
Is Capcom testing different builds in different regions ?
Good. Glad to hear it.
Gief looking solid now too? There’s one of the characters people were worried about off the list.
Now just fix Bison’s SK and undo a nerf or two to Rufus and we’ll be in good shape.
I got to try out USF4 at Super Arcade. They were played on 360’s, so you have to bring your own stick.
Elena and Hugo definitely need a lot of work. Especially Hugo, so much whifs on his specials and even Ults.
That normal Green Hand buff is just one of those things that looks a lot better in practice than it does on paper.
IMO if USF4 stays as it is it will be the year of the shoto. Ken, Ryu, Akuma, Evil Ryu, Oni will ALL be varying levels of top or upper mid tier.
Undo almost all of the nerfs to Rufus, adjust the nerfs to Adon. Fix Bison’s SK. Give better buffs to Guy/Dan/Blanka. Remove the stupid stuff from Cody and give him better buffs (EX CU trades, F+HK airborne on 1F should be altered IMO.) Remove the compensation nerfs to Blanka/Rose/Gouken. Make Vega’s Cosmic heel 0F on block on first frame with none of that “+2F then next frame -4F” garbage. Make THawk’s crMK cancel actually able to combo to something.
Then we’ll be in good shape
Yeah those Dan buffs are weird, looks like Capcom wants to keep him GG tier for as long as he exist, i just thought this would be the first time Dan would actually be B tier for once.
I never realized how popular Cody was either.
The Yun command grab nerf was whatevers, the hard upkicks one was huge, and those 2 buffs are great. Yun confirmed B tier…
