Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

Nothing yet, but that Anniversary Collection idea sounds pretty cool~

Pre-nerf Yun vs. Vanilla Sagat…LETS GO!!!

Fixed it for you =)

Reference age 22. Doom’s release date 93. Main genre of interest RPG and Fighters. I know of Doom and Wolfenstein but Developer trivia…really? And here’s a question have any of you played Rage? I did. How memorable is iD’s logo on that game?

You are right my common sense is confused. You say it’s copy and paste. And that 1 person can do it cheaply. I say that’s not true people’s salary have to get paid. Many people showed financial figures that are quite believable and you say it’s too expensive and respected members of the FGC are liars. I then state that in the even the case where 1 guy did work it looked janky you make some reference to Abel’s unfinished moves and Capcom has many assets and team members to work on it. All of whom I’m saying do not work for community commendations as they have salaries.

Taken from Skullgirls page. (Which is actually somewhat relevant)
$48,000: Staff Salaries - 8 people for 10 weeks

They have a smaller team size that Capcom’s SF department for sure. Yes I know it’s assets from a 2d game with hand drawn sprites. But Capcom is a far larger company with more revenue and I doubt anyone will work there for cheap.

It’s not the models or assets that cost a lot of money. It’s the people’s salary that is costly. They can only release so many free balance packs as they have to pay Sony and Microsoft each time they upload a new patch to their server and the characters were not slapped on so they can charge money. They were personally requested by many fans who hate SFxT but love the 4 characters reintroduced.

There was a recent article where it costed Capcom 1 million to make each new character. It’s not cheap when you have to pay people (I know I’m repeating but maybe repetition will make my point easily understood). My entire point has been it’s worth it as people who are working on this deserve to be paid and the company needs to make money for the patch. If they wanted major dollars they’d charge more knowing people would obviously play for a game that is majorly represented at EVO. They aren’t event doing that. It’s 40 with all the DLC bundled 15 otherwise. Now I’m done.

I didn’t even have American Television channels until I moved there in 2011. =|
Most of the media coverage I’ve seen of CoD was the MW2 “No Russian” mission.

Edit: Also CoD came out in 2003. Columbine took place in the late 90s.
Double Edit: To clarify it doesn’t make sense for the media to cover a game that would not have existed until 4 years later…

I see you were trying to claim that your argument about media coverage was for CURRENT media coverage not “media coverage for when the media was actually covering the game.” if you want to go by that logic than they are equal as no one is talking about MW2 No Russian mission anymore either.

Also, you have to give some credit to doom when it comes to poor publicity. Columbine occured 6 YEARS after Doom came out.

I’ve definitely seen “No Russian” mentioned in the Adam Lanza New Port incident, but then again I saw that on Fox News and I don’t think that they qualify as media. But I do agree that Doom is pretty infamous media wise considering there were other FPS games coming out yet the media specifically chose Doom to lambaste.

The “I’m sorry, but fuck you” part directed at Dev was hilarious, you sir are a legend.

Jesus Christ do you children not have jobs? Fifteen dollars is about 2 hours making minimum at McDonlad’s. Now, lets compare that to the probably hundreds of hours you’ll pour into your purchase. I’ll just use my own stats as a comparison: I will have spent, between all the versions prices, a total of 130 bucks (before tax, fuck figuring that up). Now, I look a my file on just Super and it’s sitting on around 1650 hours played. And this isn’t counting time spent playing on other setups elsewhere.

Holy shit that is an ample return on my investment.

I spend 10/15 dollars if I want to see a movie and they sure as hell aren’t 1000 hours long.

This argument is awful and always will be, it’s called value for money. Besides, not everyone is gonna play it as much as you.

“Value for money”? Lets be generous and say you only play for 100 hours, even then it’s still less than a buck an hour you spent enjoying the content.

What, perchance, qualifies as “value” if this doesn’t?

I feel like people are disappointed their favorite characters did not get picked, and are trying to use the re-used characters as an excuse to add new/more chars.

If i could pick two characters out of any chars in the capcom universe, i would still pick hugo and elena. It does not bother me the slightest that they were just featured in a previous game.

What if SF5 uses the same engine as SF4/SFxT (but with new mechanics ofc). Will you complain if capcom adds ryu in that version?

Before evo i only expected balance changes and i got pleasantly surprised. Depending on what the new game modes/features are (maybe online training mode, better net code, selectable traning stage, button config on character select, new costumes, championship mode++), the game could still be worth 15$ even without the chars/stages.

Remember how many people were begging for their characters in SFxT? Didn’t have a problem with copy and pasting then did they?

I can’t even say that cause some people did. Like they expected Capcom to create 25 new characters just for that game. How many Street Fighter characters even exist that they COULD put into 4 now?

It’s also called business.

Quite frankly this is the most generous thing I’ve seen Capcom do in recent years. A 15 dollar update or a 40 dollar disc with all the DLC outfits and special outfits for the xT characters and possibly future costumes. They could’ve easily charged 60 for the disc and people would still buy it since it comes packaged with the DLC on the disc. In fact this is the best announcement for some people who have no interest in buying a next gen console on launch. Confirmed support for the current console’s platforms.

Even if this ends up being the definitive version I’m ecstatic to know that South Africa (Solar Eclipse) and Africa (the plane stage) will finally make some damn sense as there will actually be an African in this game. I have gained closure.>_>

I would only be pissed off if capcom gave out dlc like map packs… the maps being the characters…
I think this version is going to be worth 40 dollars since it comes with new modes (hopefully they can some how make the netcode like sfxt…) and give the game a new polished look.

This argument is awful and always will be, if you don’t value the product and are not gonna get “god-knows-how-many-hours-from-it”, don’t buy it.

I don’t think 15 dollars is much at all. I don’t mind them porting characters because people have generally wanted these chars to appear in sf4. What I do mind is if Capcom just ports over the music and stages from sfxt as they are. I was really hype till I heard the shit about the stages :/.

Surely they’ll scale the SF X Tk stages down right?
The stages in SSF4 aren’t as long as XTk’s, because of the tag format, juggle combos they made them significantly longer.

Any hoo, considering the Final Fight presence already in SSF4 and with the new characters. I’d say it is likely they’ll have another Final Fight character.
BUT because I like to ask these things and get people’s thoughts; what if the character was a new design like Juri, C. Viper, Abel, Rufus etc.,
What sort of character would you like to see!? What style Male or Female?

I think it’d be cool to have a compliment to Abel. A UFC/MMA style female, maybe about the body size of Viper/Ibuki.
I’d like to see a character sort of balanced between shoto and grappler
She would have a few command grabs, one like Fei-Long and the Twins and another where she’d grab your arm and spin around tackle you (like we always see in action movies)
She could have abilities around Fireballs like Dudley’s duck under
basically she’d be a quick grappler with the abilities to racking some speed knots on your head before throwing you to the ground.
or
A Geese Howard/Aikido type character, which the SF universe is surprisingly lacking.

I think you described Seth xD. Grappling (Spinning included) shoto with ambiguous sexuality (absorbing everything), tackling, complete with tele wall dive and dive kicks to get around fireballs, and he compliments Abel as Abel is a failed Seth.

Originality is col but they said “this character has never been in a SF game before” insinuating pretty heavily that the character already exists somewhere else.

Cheap ass motherfuckers can’t put out $15… smh
