it was that misplaced oga to escape the corner and the fear to AA ( i dont understand he could just stay in crane and wait for the jump that came to AA with cr HP) and yeah snake eyes footsies are unhuman it was like he played the Gen matchup forever perfect spot to punish anything respect…
I know guys…I was yelling at the monitor going…“AA that shit!!” but…at the same time…that moment was sooooo damn tense…he just wanted to get the hell out of the corner…and I think that, coupled with time running out and also Snake’s Geif closing in, was just too much…too scary and he had brain farts right there. Hard to keep your composure as a player in scenarios like that. I was biting my nails like a girl watching that moment…so I can only imagine how crazy tense it was for him. Can’t fault him though. He made it that far, so props to him. Win or lose, Xian is a very inspirational player. So proud of him.
Zangeif can be a very hard match considering how hard he hits Gen. And Snake’s Geif is beyond Godlike.
And yeah…I want to see his fight vs Itabashi(other Geif) as well…gonna try finding it.
Well, there are definitely some that hate Gen…just because they hate fighting against him…but I think that match was more people cheering for the underdog, being Snake Eyez, defeating the former EVO champ in Xian.
And that it was a come from behind win at that. Very hype match.
It’s not a hate for Gen at all, but a love for Snake Eyez. A lot of proud Californians/Americans! It’s awesome to see more Cali players in Top 32! That’s why they were cheering. Not sure if you are aware, but at a lot of locals, there have been a lot of talk about USA players going to get bopped by International players! We are holding our own now though. So yay USA!
Guys, I think it was more due to the fact that it was an incredibly clutch finish than anything. Gen loss aside, it’s probably been the most exciting match so far at Evo.
Lol i doubt it was because of Gen hate. I’m pretty sure everyone loves Xian and his gen to that. A rarely seen character by a true character specialist played at the highest level. I might be bias but I just think it’s american crowd cheering for snake eyez. Who is amazing in his own right.
Thanks…was looking for that.
Ahh…funny how the only game he won was kind of down to the wire like the Snake match, only this time he did hold on that Ultra and used it at the right time.
Felt bad for him. He knows he probably could have played that last match better. Went for the Hail Mary crane cr short to Ultra in corner and that pretty much sealed it when Itabashi read something and neutral jumped. Had Xian looked for the neutral jump, he might have had time to do something like instant crane double kick in the air into crane Ultra 1 or something, before Itabashi pressed a button.
But that was a hella tense moment and he was behind a round with time running out,his options were kinda limited.
Interesting find! I suppose using that technique also means you get the other stance’s normals when you land from an empty jump, right? I was saying some posts back that I wish I could do crane empty jumps into mantis cr lk … (You did say that has been possible since IV, but I assume that was a misinterpretation.) Would be really nice to have the option of empty jump lows from crane as well; I mainly use crane jumpins – it has longer reach so I can position myself so that it’s hard for the opponent to AA me if I decide to jump in, whereas I can still AA them fine. Crane jump arc is fundamental to the way I play the game. I destroy shotos to left and rights ever since I stopped doing mantis jumpins and stuck to crane crossup jumpins which they have a hard time punishing.
By the way I would like contribute, the way to cancel the first hit on hands as you know it’s been discuss earlier, but nobody got it right, the way to do it is holding forward do the first four inputs, then at the fifth input you press forward and mp+mk+ hp (at the same time), if you do it right, this is the fastest way possible to cancel first hit hands, your opponent will be on blockstun if he blocks or hitstun if he got hit. For instance cr. mp+hands, the way I do it is: down-forward, mp,lp,lp,mp, forward (mp+mk+hp). The important is the last input (forward+mp+mk+ lp or hp), 'cause the last input would determine the intensity of hands (lp or hp).
Guys, I know there is a video about how Xian do it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeN6_4sJntA), but it is wrong 'cause that method do not allow you to do it consistenly, I am pretty sure that Xian do not use that, because he do it flawless.
This method also works with mk, hands, you do the exact same ending.
Hmm, I wonder what would happen if you did negative edge on it, like, press 3 kick buttons separately, then release them at the same time while you’re in the air.
