Ultra street fighter 4 gen changes

Well that’s good to hear about EX Gekiro.

But I have a question though. Is lk Gekiro still invincible on the 4th frame if 1-3 were removed? Can you still hit someone out of the air with it if you do it early?
Also, can you tell if the hit box for HK Gekiro was changed? Can it hit crouching now?
…and can you do crouching crane MK into red focus like you could on the PC mod?

Yes, you can do crane cr.MK into RF.

You can do Mantis jump Crane U2 by plinking 3K~any P

If you do 3K to stance change in the air with Mantis (Crane j.HK comes out), you will do Crane normal if you press a button as soon as you land. However, if you stick out a Mantis jumping normal and then press 3K to change in the air, you will still do a Mantis normal if you press a button as soon as you land.

Mantis cr.LP is +7 on CH, not +6 like before.

LP Roll last hit FADC is +3 on hit.

There’s no delay wake-up option in training mode

About the max range hands block, HP and EX hands are still at -13 (it looks like they did not have its recovery reduced) and MP hands is at -14

so thats still in after the 10’000’000th rebalance patch, we love you capcom, you’re awesome… who needs buffer anyway? hell yeah

is TC2 xx HK gekiro working on everybody by any chance?

how is EX hands > Mantis U2?

HK Gekiro still doesnt work on most characters

MP hands into Mantis U2 works on Fuerte if you kara it with MP~3P lol. You can also combo into sweep against him with MP hands (probably only against him tho)

You can do MP hands into U2 without kara against standing DJ. RIP DJ

You still have to kara your Mantis U2 against shotos, so I imagine it is true for most characters. No kara is needed against Gen.

MK Oga unblockable midscreen still exists lolol

LK Oga unblockable against shotos after back throw in the corner exists

Meaty unblockables like ones against Ibuki are gone. They’re changed so that you can block as front.
I think they changed it so that ANY forward jumping wake-up meaty you do while the opponent is cornered is considered a non cross-up.

If you’re knocked down in the corner, and the opponent does a meaty or delay just 1f with an airborne move, you can ALWAYS block as front (just hold towards the corner and you’ll block it, and if it was originally a cross-up before Ultra, you can block both ways). I think the opponent has to delay at least 2 frames AFTER actually crossing you up to force you to block it as cross-up.

Soft unblockables exist as are

Mantis cr.LP being +7 on CH but staying as +5 on hit (you cannot link Super or Roll after) is the weirdest change ever? The timing for linking TC after cr.LP is a bit late compared to pre-Ultra.

You can do Crane cr.LP xx LP Roll from far away, so Crane cr.LP has at least 1f more hitstun. Not sure about recovery

good shit street.

i’ll play a bunch of gen tomorrow

today im grinding yang who has apparent bad matches against elena, hugo, hawk and gief. i hope gen is at least 5-5 against them

I think Hugo will be okay, but you cannot AA him with Mantis cr.HP if he empty jumps since lower body is invincible during empty jumps and Hugo’s lower body is so huge lol. You have to use Crane cr.HK. For the same reason you cannot AA him with Mantis U1. I’m gonna test it later but I think he was able to punish Gen’s max range hands with Super.

As long as you pay attention to condor spire Gen should be able to keep out Hawk fine. Meterless vortex combo is gone, but I would call this slightly in Gen’s favour.

Gief… well, the meterless vortex combo which can also make Lariats whiff is gone. It’s easier to counter out his st.MP, but his LP hands is actually safe on hit now. His far st.MK still seems stubby, but looks better for certain. I would imagine this match would be even, but it would be more difficult when Gen is knocked down (I used to LK Gekiro or backdash when I thought they would SPD. Since LK Gekiro is no longer throw invulnerable the opponent has 1 less option to consider)

I’m gonna test Elena later, but if she can punish max range hands with slide this might turn out to be bad.
Then again, not rly I guess. I’m gonna have to check what she can do first. Luckily she doesn’t seem to rely that much on focus attacks. If her cr.LK is low profile enough to avoid Gen’s Mantis st.MP I’m gonna be so sad.

Been messing with rank since this morning. My record is 61-1 so far, only lost to a Hugo since I wasn’t familiar with the matchup.

Street11 is right. The timing for the c.lp > TC2 link is a bit different. It’s the only thing that is throwing me off sometimes.

So that’s why I was missing it every fucking time. Gosh such a pointless change. I guess will have to adjust.

Yeah, cr.lp is a bit weird indeed. I’m actually missing more cr.lp into st.mp than tc2, but that’s just me I guess.

Some one try TC2 medium hands walk forward MK gekiro or walk forward MK hands on dee jay ASAP

TC2 medium hands st.MK hands work. Will test Gekiro.

Okay, so I got the secret to the weird timing. Mantis cr.LP is the same in terms of start-up, active and recovery. However, it gained 2 additional frames of hitstop, which only affects on hit (not sure about block). It does not affect whiff. Consequently, the combo timing has changed by 2 frames (you have to delay your st.HP by 2f compared to 2012).

reports in states Gen can medium hands sweep on shotos. PLEASE CONFIRM!

MP hands Gekiro doesn’t connect on DJ

And no on that MP hands sweep. That’s almost the very first thing I checked in the morning. Shotos are way too far after MP hands.

Nope.

mp hands > s.mk > hands still works on DJ but you can’t connect gekirou.

Edit: c.lk (m) > c.lp (m) > KKK > c.lp © > c.mp © > lp jyasen works.

If you hit crouching Vega with MP/HP Roll and FADCs, it STILL crosses up on hit. And I thought they would’ve fixed it by now.

hmmm, did you WALK FORWARD after the MP hands on Deejay? by the looks of it if there is reduction in EX hands push back on hit, then Gen can possibly have an infinite on Deejay now.

pls test…

TC2 Ex hands, walk forward TC2

Yes. TC2 > mp hands > walk forward > s.mk > gekirou does not work on DJ as far as I know.

TC2 > Ex hands > walks forward TC2 works.

Edit: Just tested. On DJ Gen can: TC2 > Ex hands > walk f > TC2 > mp hands > s.mk > mp hands > fadc…etc

Gen can also do: TC2 xx EX hands > walk > TC2 xx EX hands > walk > TC2 xx EX hands > walk > TC2 xx EX hands > kara Mantis U2 on DJ

walk timing is really strict tho

yay! infinite loop till you run out of meter, how much damage for 4 loops?
