Ultra street fighter 4 gen changes

Ok, so from what i saw, Deejay’s super is simply out of range (the 1st active frame has its hitbox on his knee and not his foot)

Unfortunately I have a hard time finding moves that will reach and is 13f start-up. If I cannot find one, I’ll simply wait for Ultra and try to punish with Abel’s U1 which has 14f start-up. If it indeed will be -14 on block, it’ll be punished.

A warning: If I’m right, it means it’ll be -10 on hit = punishable by Fei Long’s HP Rekka on hit if only 1st hit connects.

Dudley and his new Ultra 1

oh well, see you guys later. going to grab popcorn and watch all the hype. Keep us posted asap guys. Thanks for all the input that you guys have been contributing to this thread.

Okay, so I tried MP hands instead of HP hands against Zangief, and he was able to punish it with EX hands on block. HP hands simply pushed back too far. Advantage on block/hit should be the same.

The one I did was:
(Zangief in the corner, from point blank range) forward dash -> backdash -> neutral jump -> MP hands -> block

If you crouch block with Zangief, he only blocks one, and if you do reversal EX hands, Gen cannot block it.

I guess you are right then, all version of hands do have the same frame data. so now it is -14 on block

i dont know why i didnt think about this before, but you dont absolutely have to cancel all your pokes into hands in the matches where they are punishable. im thinking of an amiyu set vs shimuata where he just poked with the normals after she got ultra stocked

it sucks for hit confirming super, but maybe use the meter elsewhere in those particular matches? idk

the chip is whatever, but the main reason i always cancel into hands outside of hit confirm super and the damage on hit is because people like to focus. sometimes i actually want the push back, but its mostly because people focus

i never thought about it before, but you could just buffer the hands behind your pokes and only hit the last input when you confirm into a focus attack

that way those characters would still have to deal with your space control and you wouldnt have to worry about being crumpled

You my friend must have godlike reaction to know whether its focus or not. I salute you. Cammy says hi

I agree with just doing normal part. It can be annoying for ppl if you do only cr.MPs 2 times in a row. Ryu players going against me really hate that lol

The only problem with the hands is that the opponent gets all the time in his world to confirm that he blocked hands and OS a move out only if the 1st hit connected and do nothing when the later ones connect. It becomes: If you cancel at the max range, you’re punished unless you extend. If you don’t cancel at the max range, the opponent doesn’t go for punish. If you don’t cancel, the opponent does other moves unrelated to punishing hands.

However, I don’t know about doing hands on confirming focus. You would need the reaction equivalent of confirming cr.MP xx Super from point blank range. On top of that, the opponents can bait it with focus backdash in max range, which forces you to make one additional judgement.
Gen will get crumpled from time to time. Luckily he is one of the best focus breakers in the game, so you wouldn’t have to worry too much about it.

oh how have the mighty fallen. from master of St. MK hands to just crMp for 60 damage. oh how hard is your fall

nah people do it all the time. not necessarily reacting if they focus the instant you press a button. i maybe worded that wrong. but if you look for them to hold focus, then you can react to that

we have a local ryu who cancels low forward into lp dp if you try to crumple him fishing for fireballs

like he’ll stick out raw low forward a few times, then you start charging looking for cr.mk fireball or just the cr,mk and he does lp dp after instead

you can train this reaction as well. just record the dummy crouch blocking and then have him hold a focus after like 5 seconds

poke with the normal +4 punch inputs

if you touch focus or see the charge, press the 5th and cancel into hands

Ah I see. I thought you were talking about a situation in which you are playing neutral and doing cr.MP before the opponent starts doing focus lol
If you’re reacting to focus motion and then doing cr.MP that’s completely understandable. Sorry about that.

i really hope that ex giekro nerf isnt there, or if it is, that theres some kind ofhelpful offset. i was really looking forward to coming back here. i miss the gen forum.

like i got a few tricks ive picked up in my travels to other characters that could apply to Gen, and it’d be cool to get back sharing info with you guys

everyone was always very helpful and receptive

not to say that other forums arent helpful. some on srk actually arent and are dead for the most part. but tech development was always on a different level here

Gotta agree with this. I lurked here for a couple years before I started posting a comment or two. This forum was the bomb when all the oga setups and unblockables were found. And that some of you understood
Japanese and found tech they were coming up…very cool…helpful forum…although there were some rough spots from time to time…a little elitism of some who posted that don’t anymore…for the most part it was and is a very helpful forum. I don’t feel that way always on the some of the other boards…as people who are knowledgeable about a character or are veteran players of a character can be a bit egotistical to newbies trying to learn their character.
I don’t really see that here. You guys who’ve been posting here today have been instrumental on this site with this character. Cheers to ya’ll.

I joined like thirty minutes ago, but I’ve browsed this character forum for a few years now specifically because of this. Before the last Final Round, I spent a long time stepping up my execution and set-ups and this forum was the biggest help (even though I still got blown up by a Yun). Regardless, I’m glad ya’ll devoted so much time to unlocking this deathly old man’s secrets.

One of the reasons I’m still playing Gen in USF4 is because my friends still go “holy shit!” when they see some Gen technology I shameless yanked from here. Kinda discouraged about the nerfs, but I’m excited to start exploring Teiga options because U2 looks like something worth playing around with in Ultra.

don’t worry Guys even if Gen gets nerfed to oblivion we are here for ya. i am betting my lunch money on soft unblockables.

please some should test the double unblockable on ibuki weather it still works.

if it does then surely Gen will have more of it.

My arcade stick died so I’m slow on my tests, but Ex Gekiro is still good. Capcom had mercy.
Ryu can’t low profile with cr.mk or anything.

Air Stance change is in.

Cr.lp recovery is what has been reduced I think. It’s not like in the pc mods where you have to wait a year and a half for the link.

Ex Red focus crumple is equal to a lvl2 focus, so no Crane j.hk for us after Ex Red Focus.

Gen’s FA is really nerfed? It still looks really good right now. I’m feeling exposed really, as I never knew exactly how much range it had. It’s still good guys, though Hands xx Ex Red Focus won’t work at footsies range.

Anything you want me to test?

Edit: I’ll keep this post update as I find things out.

i think his focus is nerfed just enough for far range hands into RF not to work. i agree it still reaches really far

gonna need to see how many characters you can get crane cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp into hp roll to work on. combo does 248 without a jump in

all the old super juggles work. whatever potential they removed was only in the arcade version

I’ll update this post like 2 hrs later when I rly start testing it out, but Mantis cr.LP into TC link definitely has a different timing like I felt long ago when I went to a location test.

Yeah I tested that link at a location too. Maybe they shaved some recovery frames? Wonder if it’s + on block.

please let us know about gekiros because if gen really ends up without any reversal at all (considering they already removed invincibility from LK gekiro) this gets way beyond fucking ridiculous
