Aren’t they? They’re both characters who either start, or end the DHC glitch (Dante doing both), have considerable/good damage, mix-ups, combos off of throws, more mix-ups, good team synergy… Aren’t they A tier? With Wolverine and Phoenix being A+ ?
That’s what I thought. I’m curious as to what Reruns means by they’re not even close.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Literally none of these things you are getting at follows from my post. Where did I decree that no characters should be made weaker ever? I said that the S tier (Wolvie, Phoenix) should be heavily nerfed and the cast worked closer to the strength of the A tier. I also asked for tweaks to be made to the A tiers themselves (eg, hammer nerfs, health nerfs, adjustments to Wesker shots etc). You’re way to quick to jump into arguing with something I’m not saying and end up fighting a straw man.
And the idea that I’m asking for 50 Magnetos? Really? Where did I ask for anything close to that? Saying you want a good deal of the cast to be buffed is not the same as saying you don’t ever want nerfs and that you want everyone to play the same.

My guess is the reason Wolverine and Phoenix are the only ones in S-Tier is because you can have the execution of a squirrel and still end up winning against someone who practices five hours a day. Dante and Wesker at least require some thought (No matter how brain dead their execution can become with practice).
What I am getting at is that you can’t do that because character strength isn’t linear. Or it could be, but it shouldn’t in a good game.
And yeah I see the point about Wolverine being ridiculously easy, I’m just not sure that he actually has anything that Dante doesn’t just do better.
Im just hoping that umvc3 isn’t a brain dead zombie fest like vanilla.
He has beserker slash. Which gives him an amazing crossup that rivals, if not defeats the ease of Dante’s Air Trick + Assist. And it is invincible (assuming we’re talking about vanilla Dante and Wolvie). This is what he does better.
Dante has a lot of tricky setups. Wolverine is tricky from the moment the round begins. Be it a dive kick, a berserker slash with berserker charge behind it to make it safe/comboable, or a throw, anything Wolverine pops out of his arsenal can make even Dante think twice about throwing out a hammer. He’s just overall a cheap character. Not even Magneto can get cross ups and ground bounces as much as he can.

If Dante has the right assist, you’ll be thankful that BFF is only a 50/50 mixup. I used to think Wolverine was the best too, but after playing Richard Nguyen and Duey and seeing how crazy broken Dante/Haggar setups are, Wolverine Akuma has gotten a lot lower on my list of cheap shit.
Also, shoutouts to whoever designed hammer. We should make invincible specials like shoryuken in SF +20 on block too.

the nerf I’m looking forward to is grand master zombie tank logan…to much going for him and not enough against to balance him out.
Insert character Here with OTG’z and Hagger are also godlike and have dumbass mix-up that a 3 year old could do…just saying.

This. I was working on a new snap mixup for Dante the other day because all my other midscreen shit was escapable by doing the right move and then I stumbled upon the magic of combining two of the best mixups in one package. PR Rog’s Acid Rain>DT snap setup with drones as back up.
B/S mixup has fallen off the mix up charts imo. It only provides one mix up(which is very good) and doesn’t lead to a lot more mixups if it is blocked. Meanwhile you got 3way mixups like magneto/Viper, bullshit like Zero unblockables, dante who can put you into 4 50/50 situations in a row, x-23 and her ambiguous as fuck mirage feint .
Still, BS has other uses than mixup if you ask me.

Also, why can’t the robots have nice things in ultimate anymore? Tron got fucked, Iron Man got… weird (that changed airdash confuses me, and double jump was always nice to have), and Sentinel lost even more health. Though Sent actually got something back for that in the form of faster… everything.
PR Rog showed everyone why Wolverine is so stupid just like how Viscant showed everyone why Wesker is so stupid. Wolverine doesn’t have ‘all’ the tools, he is THE tool to get in. Stick an assist behind that bad boy at the right times along with a confidently player and the only thing you’re going to be doing the whole match is calling your invulnerability assist or spamming hammer until he screws up his ez-mode inputs. I just don’t see how anyone has a Wolverine fight in their favor unless they can manage to throw him first.
