Ultimate Salt - Nerfs you are looking FORWARD to in UMvC3

yeah, i mean, from current knowledge and show, the rest of the cast sucks balls. But this game still has a lot it could give us. I just hope U is equally crazy and versatile.

Yeah Ammy is definitely not a high damage character like literally every other character that people say is high-tier.

Hope, but will not receive.

I agree as well just that if hitboxes are re-done, chun’s better get redone as well. There’s no reason for kicks to hit from behind. Not to mention that if you land behind the kicks and get hit, it turns into an infinite bc her legs aren’t pushing u away -_-

And I don’t mind dante being the center of attention but some of the stuff that’s said apply to more people than him. Like all his canceling into safer moves (besides bold cancel) is the same as others canceling into a special. Trish’s dive kick xx fly, berserker slash xx berserker charge, any normal xx tatsu, etc. The only problems I see with dante is his hitboxes and hammer.

Mags - too good. Crazy rush down with insane mixups, good zoning and a level 3 that can punish anything
Wesker - 1.1 million health, easy combos and dmg, easy combos off air throw, has multiple counters and his hyper one can be combo’d off of, zones with a fucking bullet
Wolvie - might as well have made this a cpu controlled character since he’s so easy to use. Most of his combo only require a qcf here or there with little to no timing at all

Yeah, I think so too.

Well, i guess her butt’s big/strong enough to do some damage behind her.

On a more serious note, she can infinite with that? Wouldn’t you just fall out after a little while? I don’t think I’ve gotten trapped by it for super-long periods of time.

And concerning Dante making everything safe, well, it’s certainly not getting better with Zero and his new buster.

No hard knockdown on buster. yay!

IIRC yea. Except that the opponent has to actually get hit while she’s facing the other way so I doubt there’s an intentional way to do it. From what I could tell, you keep getting hit bc of the hitbox but bc her legs aren’t actually hitting u, u don’t get pushed away. It happened once while I was playing another user on Ign.

I’m pretty sure you eventually fall out.

For the most part it’s a good thing. My and my fat thumbs… =/

Edit: Alot of the time when I get twister going for acid rain I find you can just roll with it and get decent results.

I love the taste of words in my mouth. I never said I CAN’T do anything on the pad. I said its just much harder on the pad vs the stick. After having gotten used the stick, being on pad feels like aaaaaaassssssssssssssssss… That is all I am really complaining about.

Honestly, Magneto is just about as strong as a character can get without being overpowered.

“A posterior surface”? Nice one.

Spoilers: A wall of text that few people care about.

[details=Spoiler]I actually skimmed through the Trish forums once and I forgot that you posted there. In any case, the Trish players I play with (and apparently some of the other people in the Trish forums) believe that Ammy is positive against Trish. Okami Shuffle does do a pretty good job at clearing traps and grounding Trish. Every Trish I’ve seen so far prefers to dive-kick down instead of just dropping to the ground as their last air action. Anyway, you play against different dogs and I play against different Trishes so our point of views are different.

I brought up her character matchups because some believed that she’d be unplayable without air-dash guard. I just made the argument that it’s helpful but unnecessary for the most part. I also think it’s a good joke when people don’t believe that Ammy (or Viper or Zero) is S-tier.

As for my “snarky” comment, damn near every dog player rushes down with her non-stop instead of actually thinking about how the match-up works. Whether or not this applies to you, I don’t know.** If I offended you, my bad.** Rushing down certain zoners can cause unnecessary damage and frustration. It’s only necessary to rush-down with Ammy when you’re behind. If you find yourself on the other side of the screen with a life-lead, depending on the character, you can have them come to you instead of rushing down.

Amaterasu actually does one thing in the game better than any character in the game to date: not give a damn about zoning. Her crouch is low enough to avoid a good number of beams/projectiles and Solar Flare reflects/negates everything else. She can literally take 0 damage against non-hyper projectiles/beams. You can argue that other characters can get around zoning but that usually involves a teleport (which can be anticipated and countered) or jumping in and blocking. Ammy can just sit there, duck or hold a button, and not care.

Most characters require a DHC, the DHC glitch, multiple hypers or X-factor to TOD a character. X-ray’s combo would have killed over half of the cast. The fact that Ammy passed a million damage without X-factor surprised me. By “destroyer”, I’m guessing you mean on-point character since they are the ones who deal the most damage in an ideal match. ChrisG uses Ammy on-point and continuously proves to me that her XF1 BnB is just as retarded as Wolverine’s XF1 BnB. Clockw0rk put Ammy on point when he started and he’ll put her in front for certain matchups. Choisauce (Task/Tron/Ammy), an Ammy player that I’m beginning to respect has her anchoring but sticks her in front for certain matchups as well. Her damage might be a bit low but she can definitely kill with the best.

I think my message might come off as confusing. I don’t like her nerf. I don’t think she’s the best character. I don’t think she’s broken beyond belief. That being said, her loss of air-dash guard isn’t the end of the world or permanent yet. She has many other options that are currently slept on and it definitely wouldn’t be a bad idea to learn how to utilize those options. Air-dash is still usable, just don’t get predictable. As of right now, she’s still the same character I know and love. At the complete worst, her solo game isn’t as solid anymore and she’ll need backup to work optimally.

As for the Viper matchup, Ammy isn’t free now and she won’t be free later. I take what the Viper posters say with a grain of salt. I can show you videos of Viper getting blown up by characters that are supposedly “free”. I can show you videos of people just jump-blocking through the Seismo spam to open her up. I can show you videos of Ammy air-dashing untouched over properly placed seismos and bashing Viper on the back of the head. At her best, Viper’s rushdown game is as potent as Wolverine’s and Magneto’s but just like those two, there are gaps that can be exploited. The seismo spam is the same way.[/details]

Also, I think I lied when I said X-ray’s Ammy is the best. She’s just his best character. Clockw0rk’s Ammy is the best post EVO.

Spoiler

He switches weapons more often than any Ammy player I’ve ever seen and the mind games he does with the counters causes many opponents to second guess themselves. He’s got combos in disc, sword and he’s even got some tricks with beads and hidden missiles. His change from offense, defense, and zoning is so silky smooth. I also can’t forget DAT DOOM.

Some people would like to see 8 characters get nerfed. I would like to see 30 characters get buffed. So far, I actually like the way U is going, which is making me sad I won’t be buying it, and will only really have access to my friend’s copy.

I really wish people would quite complaining about ease of use for certain characters as:

  1. No one is forcing you to use certain characters.
  2. All bitching about ease of use says to me is: “I’m salty that I picked a character that’s hard(er) to use with equal or less rewards”. Get over it.

I can understand what you’re saying if said in the case of say, Dhalsim or C. Viper, but come on.

The most powerful characters by a decent margin are so braindead the game is basically playing itself.

A million damage after 2 assists, an unreliable TAC glitch if you know the matchup, and a Level 3? That’s pretty freaking pathetic if you compared it to the damage output of the rest of the top tier.

This game is so crazy fucking cheap already that I sure as hell wouldn’t want to see that happen. Fuck, if they made this game any cheaper then they might as well rename this game to Heads VS Tails Fate of Two Coin Sides because every match would basically be a coin flip.

People act the the “cheap” things in Marvel are some kind of mistake when that was the entire design idea they were going for. Everyone is supposed to be ridiculous and godly and cheap and broken and amazing and have something that makes them that way, whether by playstyle, tools, proficiency, or otherwise.

Having a cast 38 broken characters wouldn’t be boring or anything, that is for damn sure. As a matter of fact, it would make everyone roughly even, with only matchups being a large factor. Although by that point I’d think everyone would have much better matchups with everyone else. Or if they don’t, now we just have very condensed tiers.

Hey, you know what? That doesn’t sound like a bad game.

If that was Capcom’s intent, they failed pretty hard at it.

That won’t make a difference. Who OTG’s off of it anyways?
