If you get close enough after it lands you can OTG with sentsuizan/dive attack + assist and sent them up for a death combo. That shit was stupid as fuck. It was basically a half screen projectile that covered his attack whiffs and assist calls that lead to TOD’s.
Since my definition of braindead (hopefully that works) is apparently very different from everyone else’s I completely disagree on the game playing itself.
This. I do not even play Dante (All of my friends do) Dante needed a hard Nerf. Someone at capcom however thought it would be a good idea to make him even easier to use. This is just plain dumb His hitboxes and moves all need to be re evaluated. Some cast members cannot do anything at all against him.
You can add me in as the third person who subscribes to that definition. Berserker Slash and cL Feathers are the only things I feel are actually brain dead in this game.
you know i wasn’t arguing or calling anyone stupid, so to insult me didn’t make sense and it was uncalled for. I was explaining what I experience, but I figured there was a reason people complained. I was just trying to understand why people thought he needed nerfs, thats all >_<
While I agree, I also see why people complain. I spent all my time learning Dante, and I don’t regret it since I believe I have found the best character in the game, but I can’t help but facepalm when I watch a Wesker do a full screen gun shot and pick up a full combo from it by doing 6H>L.
I understand the idea of having characters who are capable of winning without too much work is good for bringing in new people and preventing them from feeling shafted, but I think those kind of characters make the community as a whole lazy when they’re the best characters.
Speaking of the Ammy air dash nerfs. I main her so I’m a little biased on this one. The biggest problem is not just how it might change the matchup against characters like Trish and Viper, but where it leaves her when dealing with all the bullshit the rest of the game throws at her.
Stuff like Akuma’s insanely fast beam, Magneto’s crazy good shockwave/Grabbity Cheese, Dorm’s pillar game/huge and fast chaotic flames, Ryu’s multi direction Shinku and Sent’s hard drive could be real enders for an otherwise awesome character. I rushdown with her because she is the only character on my team with the capability and nerfing it the way they did was just unnecessary.
They could have given her an quick air cancel with a button press(and a second quick press for a normal move) to avoid nerfing her so bad. They could have shortened the distance of her Konohana vine so that diagonal+up+3x qcf.l+slow hyper runaway tactic weren’t so good too. It just seems like a completely thoughtless nerf when her Dash is the most conspicuous one in the game and her health is ass.
This nerf was just as kneejerk as that 400K health Sentinel nerf and I really dislike that character…
Personally, I’d like to see characters that have some simple, somewhat-effective entry-level stuff to ease new players into the game, but that also have access to harder, more rewarding techniques that require some dedication to master. That way, it’d force those players to analyze why they’re losing against better players in the long run and evolve their game. That’s incredibly general, though, so I’ll just leave it at that.
Dante(yes, i’m all over the second son of sparda’s nuts) is the perfect example of this. Zero too to a lesser extent.
I think games need all 3 ends of the spectrum. Basic characters(entry level) with basic tools yet are still good(Ryu/Sagat/Ken in SF4), intermediate characters with basic tools and advanced shit too(Akuma in SF4) and advanced characters with ridiculously hard shit to do but which is very strong(C.Viper/Fuerte)
personally, I’d like to see more characters like magneto and Viper. Hoping Nova or Vergil or whatever are like that.
The ‘difficulty’ should be what really dominates this game which is getting that first hit. Tron and Haggar really made rush down characters think twice, but thanks to the assist cooldown, there was still plenty of time for Zero to drop an assist and apply enough pressure to make any confident player block incorrectly. Worst part of all, Zero’s pressure game is so damned easy that even a pad player could supply another finger to charge the buster while they :h: all day long. It might take a noob ass Zero 3 combos to kill off a character, but what difference does that make if he gets in every time?
Point is: Zero can be as noob as you want him to be in combo execution (Which is where the hard shit comes in) with only the general idea of block and spacing to back him up and still come out on top against someone who can link 3-frame reflex memory combos that ToD.
Ammy almost fits this to a T. Zero to a lesser degree because his H is too freaking good in this game, but has tons of more advanced stuff you can learn.
See this is the problem. You CAN learn it, but it’s not like you MUST learn it. he still does respectable damage and is scary with simple stuff.
Exactly why I said “to a lesser degree”. Zero would be one of the more well done characters if it weren’t for his crazy good H and projectile game.
I find it hilarious and sad that Ammy was nerfed that way when the only spammable tools she has are a hyper and j.H(which doesn’t have nearly as much priority as Zero’s btw).
You’re overrating Zero. Noob zeros get bodied, he has a harder time getting in than it looks. He can get zoned pretty easily if the Zeero player isn’t competent. I’ve been playing a lot against some really lame teams, and Zero has a relatively hard time getting in. Good thing he doesn’t HAVE to get in as Zero can be surprisingly lame.
Basic Zero is a lot less scary than basic anything honestly. Ok you hit me with J.H but you’re gonna do a 500k combo lol.
I’m looking forward to Dante’s “nerfs”.
Building meter during Devil Trigger, where now I’m able to triple jump and double air dash? Man I love those nerfs. Wish they nerfed Wesker this bad.
Wait, wait, wait, Devil Trigger builds meter now? What is this bullshit?
I think Zero is much like Phoenix in that aspect actually. Like, if you fight against Dark Phoenix, you are scared as fuck and everytime she moves you think you’ll die, but when you use her you feel so vulnerable and fragile, you’re the one scared because of her health, any random stuff and you’re dead lol
Sorry if that makes no sense at all, wasn’t sure how to put that feeling.
Makes perfect sense. Too scared to ge randomed out.
Looks like every power up hyper now builds meter.
