Exactly. If I put the time in to learn a character in a vanilla version, and suddenly my character does the same things but it is less fun, why would that be good?
maybe the salt jokes are a bit much, i mean look at the name of the thread, do you expect reasonable arguments or “omg x pisses me off when im fighting get rid of it” salt is in the title.
[details=Spoiler]Those are some horrible nerfs lol. IMO Weskers HP nerf was enough to make him less derp. He’s what, 800-850K Now? That’s a fairly easier 100% one touch death for him. Also didn’t his speed get decreased? I read somewhere if he puts sunglasses on he’s faster/normal speed.
Tron/Hagger Assist nerf: Looking forward to this a lot. Any assist that’s almost impossible to hit/stuff + makes someone so much better with little to no effort should be nerfed. (So only them really) Tired of people barely using their characters options at all, and just walking back + Assist, or during a blockstring mashing assists and me getting hit/rant. I can’t punish the Assists either + they can just be reused after 3-5 secs iirc.
I’d rather have ‘‘dante, ryu, akuma, and hulk’’ instead of ‘‘Magneto, Zero, Dante, Wesker, Wolverine.’’ TBH in a reply to the PSN/XBL char usage lol. The first 4 are def. more obnoxious, but turn alright after a while. Im surprised that I barely meet any Wolverines/Phoenix’s/She-hulks online and I have around 2k matches. Im lovin’ it. Tadatatataa[/details]
Yea it does say ‘‘Ultimate Salt’’ in the title. Which is also what I define this game as
LMAO. Yeah, I think that Capcom has nerfed Jean too severely.Atleast other characters get stuff in return for losing stuff like Storm and Mags.Is it really true that she can’t do anything after one move? Like not even a Hyper combo? That is kind of lame.I feel like Wolverine got nerfed to much too, but that could just be me being biased due to how much I have used the character in the older games of the versus series.
Well, the hitboxes in the game are pretty crazy. I mean, Seth Killian confirmed on the stream at EVO, that the characters are all basically joined by a semi bubble/oval shape for the hitboxes, and he was going into some indepth stuff about the maximum wesker super. Hopefully they are a bit better in Ultimate. I forgot what match it was or what the exact time it was, but it was something akin to that.
Assuming with such dogmatic certainty that Ultimate Phoenix will be dead weight purely based on what you’ve heard or read…and without even testing her in the new game…is very very stupid.
That’s all I gotta say about that.
You are assuming the premise of your argument that she will be less fun. That’s no way to make a valid argument. Reread what you wrote and try again.
If shes the same as she was at comic con which I did attend by the way then she is dead weight, No speculation necessary. you assuming that I assumed anything with such dogmatic certainty could also be considered very, very stupid. You should tread carefully when addressing omnipotence.
That is all I have to say about that!
You are implying (in a condescending tone) that I am complaining about Phoenix nerfs, instead of just nerfs for all characters in general. Reread the previous posts and try again.
I don’t think anything is super serious of a nerf other than H shot making her much more liable to snapbacks.
For those talking about her “health nerf” there’s no official word on her health nerf. It could be coax nerf like the Sentinel “health nerf” where they just brought him down 5,000 more k so he’s at an even 900k instead of the random 905k. Nerfing Phoenix’s health even a whole 100k doesn’t do much anything because if you couldn’t kill Phoenix on a solid hit when you hit her you probably have the worst fighting game hands ever.
What made Phoenix so tought to deal with was mainly the fact that she has a bunch of hard to poke at hit boxes for normals and specials and when you try to snap her in if you don’t get an immediate mix up to land on her you have to deal with a potential of 3 different H shots stuffing you in the face. By that time she can call assists again and raw tag back in. Now with only one H shot any average character will be able to take advantage of her because once she throws the shot she must come to the ground and won’t be able to call assists or tag out for 5 seconds after the snap.
Air XF…if you used chip to kill Dark Phoenix that strategy wasn’t used once within top 8 at Evo so it can’t be that good any way. Dorm and Akuma were the only 2 characters really hyped for the chip kill on her and nobody really decided to go to them at Evo for that specific purpose.
nerf Trish’s hands
I’ve no idea. It was like that in TvC as well, and a risk of using the Shocking Pink. It is kind of funny to play Shocking Pink Pong though
I always said Trish was designed after Uma Thurman. Go back and watch any of her movies and tell me I’m wrong.
Anyway yeah, this thread is pretty much dedicated to venting. MvC3 is a fun, frustrating game and we’ve had 5 months to experience the joy and bullshit that comes with it, so give us a break already. **The nerfs are coming anyway, so mocking those of us who are actually looking forward to them is pretty much beyond the point now. ** We’re playing in a post-arcade world now where patches and updates (or new version releases) are going to happen. Telling everyone they just need to suck it up and play with the version they’re given and developers shouldn’t alter the game for the sake of overall balance is living in the past.
Maybe this is just something that is easier to accept for me since I come from a background of mostly playing MMORPGs, which were constantly patched and changed, whereas back in the arcade days the game you got was the game you got, even if say only 4 characters out of 20 were dominant and totally broken.
Nowadays characters and the game in general is able to be tweaked and changed to closer match the vision the developers originally had in mind. The best example I can think of in the case of Marvel would be Magneto. Maybe Capcom didn’t want him to be super rushdown guy originally but instead wanted him to be more of a zoner, which was why they played up the speed of his Disruptor so much. Perhaps they never realized he’d be able to close distance so quickly, so UMvC3 gave them the opportunity to make him closer to what they originally intended, by slowing down the speed of his dashes. Also, by slowing down the speed of his Disruptor slightly and giving him the Magnetism skills, they are actually giving the players more tools to achieve this. I mean really, if you go by his source material, Magneto has never been portrayed as an in your face brawler anyway so these changes actually make sense.
Ultimately I think UMvC3 is going to be a better game overall because of the nerfs. No one has been nerfed into the ground to the point of being unplayable, especially with the change of X-Factor being usable in the air. The nerfs and buffs being introduced will just even the playing field a little more amongst the cast, and I believe make the game more fun in the long run.
I agree.
And to actually answer the question posed in this thread. Very happy to see the nerfing of Gouki, Wolverine, and especially PENIX… maybe we’ll see some more originality among PS3moters online and elsewhere. Before the game was released I figured Gouki, Wolverine, Dante, Zero, and Ryu would be cheesed-out. Didn’t see Phoenix turning into PENIX Mode being the salt that ended all salting coming. Having experienced that cheese… anything that forces what was once BS into a much more tactical approach is a good thing.
lol @ that Sentinel “nerf” in Original Recipe MvC3 though.
I assume that with Phoenix people will just start to actually get better at blocking and rush down… I mean since she is an all or nothing type of character going ALL IN would mean rushing down with teleport mixups, and using an assist to cover an H shot and either going in with it by your side. or dash in then Teleport… i mean there is just a different way that you are gonna have to play her … just stop and think about the new ways that you can play a character before thinking that all is lost for her. I rush down with her when I use her cause people expect most phoenix’s (it seems) to jump and fireball until they get killed and reborn. or that there is a Teleport coming from behind w/ those floating Fireballs on their way over to you. I think that this will just give her a completely different style of play instead of being able to play keepaway she will be an ALL IN rush down Destructive force like she is supposed to be.
What if she was like that from the beginning … people would STILL play her for the same reason.
Yes, a past where Gen wouldn’t lose his MK(MP?) XX Hands loop because it “Didn’t feel like Gen”.A past where Sentinel wouldn’t get his health dropped by around 1/4th because new players can’t adapt. The problem isn’t patching, it is stupid patching. It is patches that are done because people don’t want to deal with things, not because they can’t.I am not saying that all the nerfs in UMvC3 are like that, but that happens way more than it should.Especially with Capcom. When Capcom makes balanced games, they make games with neutered characters ala SSFIV and MSH V SF(either this or XM V SF, it has been awhile).
Nope. There are too many references to MVC2 in MvC3 to suggest that Capcom didn’t make Magneto the way he is currently on purpose.Mags got his awesome tridash and wave dash back. There is no way that Capcom didn’t want him to be that way.I don’t know why they made his disruptor so good of a move. They probably weren’t thinking. Also his dash isn’t slower, it just travels less distance if I recall.
Let’s not bring the source material into this. Alot of things would be different if they followed the source material too closely.
The way I see it, two things will happen; everyone who has been complaining about the PH nerfs will be right and she’ll be useless, although I don’t see that happening because she still has mobility and all that stuff. The second thing that could happen is that she’ll still be solid but not as easy, and all the shit Phoenix players will slither away. A lot of people up in arms because the one extremely basic tactic no longer works, why don’t you buckle down and “work” to find a solution like the characters on the lower end of the spectrum have to do. Your character still has good tools.
The thing about patches and updates is that they aren’t always going to get it right the first time around. That’s where players voices are needed.
The only way I see it’s a buff to her is if she’s the last character coming in without all 5 meters…and even then she’s pretty much forced to use it in a bad situation, so Dark Phoenix is gimped.
and if you think it’s a buff because she gets snapped in and she has the option to use it, it’s not. She just gimped her team if she doesn’t survive it, and even if she survives Dark Phoenix isn’t nearly as much of a threat without it.
Hardly a BUFF : |
Dark Phoenix is probably gonna die competitively after Ultimate drops, especially if people start counter picking Morrigan. Astral vision combo draining 5+ meters, lolwut.
