A balanced character doesn’t necessarily mean a weak character. If people preferred every character having as many powerful tools as Ammy then she would be their concept of a balanced character. For the record I think that she’s decently balanced since she’s incredibly strong with some Marvel bullshit, but it doesn’t break the game for real characters. I think there are some incredibly stupid things about her for sure, and rank her as top 7 just under Wesker. She’s competitive and has a lot of tools to grow and develop as opposed to just stagnating.

@WooooShooee13: Cl0ck’s not even the Ammy that made it farthest at EVO, the character definitely does have a lot of BS that isn’t commonly used yet. Her super as part of a team hyper combo is pretty close to an I-win button with strong mix up characters that get to have invisible ground forced high low left right on you. Marlinpie makes the best use of this. The dog has a lot of ways of dealing with other powerful tools in the game and with sword stance has normals that beat Zero and pretty much everyone else. She’s definitely a potent beast.

Magneto can damage you pretty damn good from fullscreen, most of what dante does is safe and if it’s not he can cancel into something that is safe, while you take chip all this time. His strategy is literally to bully you into thinking that you can do something about what he’s doing. The fuck are you on? Switch to De-caf
Ammy abuses X-factor so badly by not getting any speedboost and an 150% damage boost at best…“whoa”.Maybe we should establish what the difference is between something that’s good and overpowered, but conveniently we have no idea what characters you use.

Also XF of any variety is useful for Ammy because of how it screws with damage scaling thus why players like Chris G can often kill a character then mix up a second with it.
On the chip discussion Dormammu and Viper definitely contend with Chris and Task. There are other characters with good chip too.
X-factor of any variety is useful for any character in the game, doesn’t mean it’s being abused. Again it’s important that we establish what the difference is between something that’s good and something that’s OP. I believe everyone should have the tools they need in order to complete their specific task. Ammy is a rushdown character but can also be played with pokes or zoning, which are not as strong.
If we want to go by what some of the arguments are i can point out that MODOK can use an unblockable on incoming characters, proceed to nearly kill that character, mess up their controls tag him out and proceed to do it to the next character until all 3 of the opponents characters have low life with screwed up controls trying to block unblockables. Can setup a DHC glitch off of a throw as well and can outzone ammy or trish if he wanted too.

Why you keep talking about an air fireball into teleport being brain dead is beyond me seeing as that was not anywhere in any of my statements.There is more than one way to play jean but obviously you still are missing the point.(if you still think thats the only way to play jean my invitation to your ass whuppin still stands so I can prove you wrong) At this point I’m starting to think you are being argumentative for the sake of being so, seeing as they did nerf her teleport by removing the option (Whole fucking point of discussion) of doing it twice or three times while in the air. Yes I can still teleport twice in the air because you said I can. If I am whining a lot then you are definitely being purposely OBTUSE alot.
Technically, yes they did nerf her teleport, as you can’t do two per jump now. Jump shot, teleport isn’t even gone, it gained 18 frames of start up. I’m not kidding when I say Phoenix and Dark Phoenix were both free to Strider’s Vajira assist in the sdcc build though, the only buttons or move you couldn’t hit on reaction with that assist were L and M, everything else you could watch her go into start up on, hit the assist button, and get a free ground bounce into death.

I don’t see that being too ridiculous because character like Spider-man can also block during his air dash because of his awkard startup. I’m pretty sure Spencer can do so too, I think.
Spiderman also gets a +19 advantage if his glide hits you and +17 if you block. There’s another example of a rushdown character that works(he’s not perfect) so it’s a good comparison. If they neutered webglide then the character would REALLLY suffer and even though i don’t play spiderman, i wouldn’t try to justify it by pointing out that a bottom tier character has it harder.

I dunno what games you guys come from, but from what i’ve seen, a character with a tracking teleport, tracking fireballs, 3 frame normals, traps, an invincible full screen super, who can turn into dark phoenix will never be ass. Sure she might be less dominant, but that’s a good thing. If you have to worry about something other than hitting the other guy once to ensure you win, that’s definitely a step in the right direction. She got nerfed, no ones arguing that. But she will still be good. Like Dante and Wesker who got nerfed too! Guess I should start crying that Dante is gonna be ass because I heard he got nerfed in a loketest of an unreleased game?

There we go with the fireball thing again and no one is debating Dark Phoenix yes that is a broken character. No one knew she had the tools she possessed pre release now we do. We also know which major tools are being removed along with which other options are being added to prevent having to deal with Dark Phoenix in the first place. In case you missed it. Even if she has 5 meters in Ultimate that does not mean she will get to DP… there are several new options to remove some meter or in other cases an entire bar. Dante and Wesker are horrid comparisons because in the long run their nerfs dont matter… at all. Dante sill has access to his 1,000 moves and year long combos along with modest health and ridiculous hit boxes, Wesker is pretty much the exact same minus 100k health and what another 3 frames on his teleports? (Nerf my ass) Now its not about a 400k hp gimmick character which is what she was if you were relying on the Dark Phoenix transformation. It’s about a 300k hp Joke character. This has gotten old, So how about that Hawkeye guy?
I kind of miss the Damage scaling from MVC2 because the only way TOD combos worked is if you went for resets
Hsien-Ko can force nearly the whole cast to move in to attack her she beats, character like task in the zoning war, but on the rush down side task and other character delivery more damage. Hsien-Ko firstly should be the main assist in any team she is in, are Henkyo ki and anki hou in very good in the zoning war but most Hsien-Ko insist on spamming senpu bu which will get her killied because you want to be at the other side of the screen.
The only option I’ve heard of so far that removes meter that isn’t TAC is Morrigan’s fireball and that only removes a 1/4th of meter at most per fireball. TAC is just going to get forward countered all day. Expect to only land up or down tags on Phoenix teams.
I still stand by Phoenix still being rather competitive just requiring more work. The balance changes don’t hit her where she really is her most threatning. The balance changes so far IMO will only seriously affect people who play her in more gimmicky ways like on point. She’ll be more susceptible to snap back kills but that’s the way it should have been from the beginning any way.
You mean the Henkyo Ki and Anki Hou assists? No. Henkyo Ki activates behind your point character, and it doesn’t go very far. Anki Hou has low durability and the fact that you can get a bomb adds unnecessary risk. Same is true on point.
I want to point out that Hsien-Ko IS NOT a zoner.
Same reason MODOK isn’t. He can comfortably zone or rushdown, but Hsien-Ko absolutely cannot do either unless your opponent is paralyzed.
Hsien-Ko is only classified as a zoner because she is completely incompetent at rushdown.
Hsien-ko is a character that can’t accomplish what she was designed to do…and on paper at this point it’s abit difficult to tell what exactly that purpose is. MODOK can comfortably zone but zoning in general in this game isn’t too threatening and he makes things easier for himself and tougher for opponents by going in.
I said she was keepaway zoner because 1:) the design guide says so 2)way too slow to break in like a rushdown character, low damage and health is not very high either
but yea…there’s a reason she’s low tier.
