Any news of Haggar getting any good stuff for being on point? HE REALLY needs to become decent on that front, because it looks like his assist is still going to be hella important, even moreso despite its change now that Tron will be too great a liability.
I’m surprised there isn’t any salt for the Captain America and Ryu buffs. I expected more raging for ordinary guy and super soldier.
Is it just me or does her pendulum’s seem easier to stuff with normals in that game?
In anycase I find it amusing to find people bitching about Dante’s normals and not be bitching about Trish’s or Zero’s. Largely the same bullshit in some cases its actually worse, I hate Zero’s j.h with all of my chaos tainted soul, maybe less range but a lot faster. I mean some of Dante’s specials I can understand why people have issues with them especially hammer.
Well, Zero got the soft knockdown on buster nerf, and that’s pretty big. Some teams are gonna need some modifications or some combos are going to be weaker on some teams because it doesn’t cause a hard knockdown anymore.
But I think they might have gave him the best buff in the entire game until now, he can now cancel specials with buster. This is going to give him even more ridiculous mixups with things like Setsuizan (dive kick) and TK Command Dash. Zoning is improved also, Hadangeki>Buster>Hadangeki is going to be pretty hard to get through.
Hope they nerf him a little more.
Yeah, they are. In her home series, the hitbox rotates around her.
As for CapAm/Ryu buffs, I don’t think anyone’s bit hung because those two could’ve actually used some buffs. It’s the kind of changes we should be seeing more of (not that they were terrible to begin with, but they definitely needed a boost).
Cap is faster, and can OTG, AND got his double jump.
He is at least high tier. Which is awesome cause he’s been my co-main with Hulk and Skrull (Obviously Cap is on a different team :P).
Another thing, did Jill get any buffs at all? IMO she is a char that could use some.
what does cap have now that otgs?
Light shield slash.
She probably got some mild stuff but I doubt much. She has one of the best mix up games in the entire game. She just relies on assists and people don’t wanna build her around assists to maximize her. You can make Wolverine a problem just by mashing on stuff so it doesn’t leave much reason to play a character like Jill ATM. Once Wolverine is less mashy and doesn’t have an invincible special move to get through zone Jill IMO has what she needs to be very competitive with the correct assists.
The main problem with this game is that some characters are like Fisher Price easy to play in a game where easy combos and building 5 meters kills off characters. Once that changes there’ll be more reason to use the other characters.
My main issue’s with her is more how awkward she is to use esp in Mad beast mode and how quickly she dies. I am not saying she should be Wolverine herp derp easy for the record but atm she kinda feels like an even more awkward Iron Man.
There’s plenty of awkward characters in other games that are good. If you don’t like an awkward character then just pick a less awkward character. It doesn’t really stop a character being good it just forces you to confine your gameplay around their character traits.
When you play Dr.Doom on point you have to deal with not being able to cancel your dash into normals, having a slow start up j.H that’s a projectile (though has some benefits from a range), having to cancel your dash into a jump and then dash back down to simulate a wave dash…all kinds of funny awkward stuff. Doesn’t really stop him from being good. You just have to work a gameplan around it and it usually involves using strong lockdown assists to cover your strings so you can push people towards the corner and TOD them.
The unique benefits you get with Dr.Doom of course are being a character that has a bit of everything. Only character in the game where all 3 assists are strong and have real purpose, the ability to play a very strong non DHC synergy reliant offensive game on point where you get TOD combos on the entire cast once you push them in the corner, the ability to cancel your normals into a dash to always push through advance guard and really safe supers to keep pressure off of you. Plus a lot of solid XF3 tools.
Plus anybody good is pretty much dying quickly in Ultimate. Most of the characters that are good in Vanilla MVC3 have low health and the ones that didn’t will pretty much all have low health in Ultimate. MVC3 is a game of basically protecting yourself from dying. If you’re getting hit a lot by attacks that clean set up full combos you’re probably doing something wrong. That’s just the way the game is. You gotta figure out a general spacing and movement with your assists to get in without getting tagged by clean hits that will kill you. Maximillian said Strider probably has no more than 650k health so you know he’s going to be good just because he makes Jill look like a tank. LOL.
(Yeah, Mad Beast Jill is uh…“interesting” to try to control.)
Ugh. The forums went down for me as soon I try to start that post I promised. It sensed its doom, which is inevitable…though it will still have to be delayed since now I have other stuff to, not just on SRK.
Might as well answer respond to some recent posts, though.
Those sound decent enough.
Too bad he still gets owned by Trish even with those, especially since she’s said to have been buffed. I guess I’ll just have to give in and use Dante (or Virgil) if I want to fill her dark soul with light (while filling her body with bullet holes) if I want to keep using Chris. Fun times.
Eh, you could technically make the more of the sword a hurtbox or at least cut down on the priority. Otherwise, yeah, it’s problematic, especially since you don’t want make him slower either. I’m really not sure, since I don’t play Zero like I said. Again, though, he’s hardly the only person I’m talking about and, despite how obnoxious his priority is on some things, he’s actually better about most of hitboxes than some people Dante or Wesker. I mean, at least you know just to try to block Zero’s aerial C because it covers his entirety. Meanwhile, Wesker’s S hits above and behind him for some reason and some people like Dante & Magneto can hit you from behind selves and keep a combo going off something that isn’t a crossover.
Haha. Nice joke.
Oh, right. I vaguely remember coming across a random page in the “official” UMvC3 thread, at least when it comes to the items since I remember someone saying it was the Steel Samurai (and I wouldn’t know that otherwise since I’ve never played a Phoenix Wright game).
Yeah, those seem…really underwhelming. I can’t say that I’m surprised, unfortunately.
Also, I was already aware of her Vampire Savior capabilities (given she’s probably third favorite character in that game after Buletta/B.B. Hood and Q-Bee), but thanks for the videos.
Why would there be bitching about buffing characters who actually need it (from anything but the absolute worst of scrubs), especially when Akuma can pretty do everything Ryu can, but infinitely better, in MvC3?
Hell, if anything, the more casual people are probably really happy about both too–and I’m not trying to say that all casual people are scrubs or that all scrubs are bad & complete morons–given that they know & use Ryu because he’s most familiar face from Street Fighter and Captain America just had a movie that apparently has been doing well. Capcom (read: Marvel) would be rather stupid to not have Captain America be buffed so to be more usable and to appear more.
Yeah, I don’t see her or Shuma getting much if only because they’re DLC, even though the latter probably needs it and it would be nice for Jill to get things that allow her to be (slightly) more damaging by herself. I’d be surprised if she got anything of substance, rhough.
Yeah, let’s hope so. I find it hilarious that Wolverine, who probably wouldn’t have been the biggest threat after a while but still pretty damn strong if the game was allowed to developed, ended up overshadowing people like X-23 and Viper who ultimately have better mix-up games than him just because of stupid easy he is to play and he does so much damn damage.
It’s just…ugh. I’ll be blaming him for part of the reason that I’m sure someone is going to be overlooked who probably needed to be “more balanced” when it comes to whose top tier next.
continues to be mystified as to why they would give Trish any buffs beyond a faster Round Harvest
I’m worried about Trish getting better, I really struggle against her
Oh, no problem, heheh. Well, I guess they’ll be there for those who wish to understand the story behind the salt. Just… Ugh. Missed opportunities, Capcom, missed opportunities…
And I suppose the Trish buffs are a big part of Capcom’s shift toward zoning. Meh. Least-favorite character in the game, both to deal with and to look at, but I’ll learn to cope.
GOTCHA NOW!
They had to nerf Dorm…why? Seriously Dorm and Trish are the only characters have a legit zoning tool that shutdown MVC3’s typical rushdown.
Much like Magneto, Dormammu lost a couple of minor things in comparison to what he was given in return, which will likely make them much more dangerous in the long run. The only ‘nerf’ that Dormammu received that I can recall is that Flame Carpet pushes the opponent out more instead of holding them in place.
You could argue that this is both a nerf and a buff - it makes it harder to combo off of, sure, but it is now an excellent space creator which boosts Dormammu’s zoning capabilities. This change, combined with his ability to use Dark Spells, Liberation and Purification in the air make for an overall net gain for Dormammu.
They didn’t really nerf Dorm in any way from what I’ve heard that kills his defense. Flame carpet can’t be used as well in combos but that doesn’t hurt his defense. All of the defensive characters got buffed. Doom has faster start up on plasma beam, photon shot and his j.H heavy gun laser. Chris has faster start up on his gun specials and can cancel his gun normals into gun specials. Arthur got more health. Pretty much anybody that was reliant on zoning to space themselves and set up offense has gotten buffs for the most part. Iron Man got faster beams also. Plus at least 4 or 5 of the new characters being introuduced seem like they’ll be heavy on mid to long range fighting.
In general the game is shaping up to be a game where defense is stronger. Hopefully it works out like console Super SFIV where there’s a good balance between offense and defense finally. Watch people complain about the lame out from the new characters and then Ultimate MVC3 AE comes out and all the zoning characters get nerfed to shit so “offense can be good again”. LOL.
The hell o_O I missed this change. Jesus that’s crazy.
