Ultimate mvc3 iron man

Same reason they buffed Zero and Viper and put Firebrand in the game…

… It’s Capcom…

And sunglasses…
Love your post man, btw your vanilla IM tech vid was soo dope even though I didn’t play him due to execution. Could you possible make a similar vid for UMVC3 Confirms and setups? IK your busy with nova and rocket raccoon stuff but man would it make me so happy.

EDIT: IPhone autocorrect sucks soooo much

I’ll make a vid if I have something different to show. Most of the stuff is pretty much the same. I am thinking about one showing off the fuzzy guard stuff KJunk mentioned a few pages back. It’s pretty nifty, but you have to overcome all IM’s issues to even enforce it.

Yeah I see. Do you have any notations for neutral jump level confirms? The old ones I’ve been finding only work off of jumping m or use a double jump which he no longer has

Also are there any reall solid incoming mixups that are different using his dash cancel? I saw KJunk saying something about it but I don’t think you got into much detail

While I strongly agree with you on that, it’s just sooooo hard sometimes not to slot him in as cleanup depending on your team. I’m trying to work on a new main team for exactly that reason (Cap/Spencer/Tony is/was my main), I’m also working on a team to have him as my point character though I used to have a Tony/Chris/Doom team in vanilla.

I’ve toyed around with Tony/Storm/Doom just to get used to Storm, and see what Tony felt like with a keepaway/frustration style setup, but that would only be a matchup dependant team since Storm is just too good to relegate to assist slot full time. (she is soooo fun btw)

I think the thing I hate the most about this game is that…there are just too many good characters to whittle a team down to 3 lol.

Kei

Do you play on XBL? Some nice guy I was facing used this team and merked me…inspiring me to pick up IM lol

lmao…why yes…yes I do. That nice guy was most likely me as I’ve NEVER run across anyone else (on around 7k matches between both games) using the exact same team.

Kamukix is my XBL name, hopefully that was me (what’s your tag, did we run a set or just a single game), I try to have as much fun as possible while helping everyone (including myself) get better and better

Kei

Haha we played like a first to 15…me winning only 2 games if I recall lol. At the time I believe I ran Firebrand/Ryu/Ammy.
BUUT I do remember getting my first win with my lime green colored Hsienko/Firebrand/Hawkeye team =p
My gt is Untitled66

Ahh, I see. So basically for Iron Man to be at optimal position, it’s best if he’s not anchoring. Man, this sucks. Spidey has better DHC synergy with Nova when Spidey’s on point, and neither really have any assists to help Iron Man get in. T___T

That’s what I’m gathering. It seems like it’s possible for him to anchor, but it’s an uphill battle against anyone who knows his limitations. Against someone who rushes in all wildstyle with no plan, it might not be such a big issue since they’re closing the distance for him and opening themselves up to Cr.:l:.

WOW, I remember the set we had. It was at the shrine kinda stage with the temple in the back…I remember you hardcore racking up frequent flyer miles with Firebrand.

If I remember correctly I ran my main team for the first 5-7 games, then switched to my Spencer/Tony/Doom team instead. I still have your messages in my inbox after I gave you some tips. I’m down to run some more sets/training/talking any time I’m online. Eventually you’ll close that gap to me…though I’ll be even better by then
Glad I brought in another to the Iron Man team, I can’t wait until I feel as comfortable with this version as I did with the last one (I loooooved the last version). I think this version has significantly better tools than that last one, the other one just had a significantly greater ease of movement. I’m working on kinda ‘setting up’ camp on the screen now instead of trying my hardest to make him move like the old one. Of course I can’t stay totally stationary, but with his range and tools he can occupy a smaller portion of the screen while still dealing a lot of damage without ever landing a single big combo…if he does though of course you’re likely to die.

Btw, you also inspired me a lil bit even if it seemed like I just ran through you. I’m practicing Ryu in the background, with Firebrand in the back of my mind to learn about very soon. I’ll eventually get around to Ammy especially for her assist, but after I saw sooooooo many in the first game I couldn’t stomach learning to use her lol.

Welcome to the forums, and the Iron Man team friend.

Kei

(wow that set was back on 11/27)

Haha thanks SOOOO much for the reply, welcome, and the set :p.

You bodied me preeetttyy bad but honestly were one of the few who did it without using Wesker/Zero/Vergil ect :p. REALLY wanna get some more tips from you and I remember you said you were still getting used to IMs movement haha.

I too (only at a hell of a lower level) am trying to learn how to just fill the screen with crap using Tony. Hopefully we can have another set considering I dropped pretty much every day one character I had learned (hope to get back to ammy and hsien-ko) and started using Doom/Ironman/Sentinal. I also might pick up MODOK…please don’t ask why :stuck_out_tongue: I just like chars that take way more skill then I have ATM to play.

So your saying you don’t like to stay stationary with IM? Say I hit them air to air with a heavy…is there anyway to confirm into a combo? Also what assit, on your second team, does Doom have?

That’s just my opinion on it so far. It makes sense in my head, but I could be wrong! Unibeam assist could be so good for some teams that it’s worth playing his bad match-ups when he’s alone.

What types of chars would you say unibeam is best with (besides teleport characters) also does repulsar blast warrant any use in your opinion…trying to find the best way to use IM assists for my team(s)

You have a lot of options if it’s not a trade. If you beat whatever they’ve done with the j.:h:, you could do something like j.:h:, ju.:h:, qcb:s:, :m::m::h:, airdash, j.:h:, ju.:h:, qcb:s:, j.:h:, ju.:h:, qcf:l:.

That’s just me guessing. They might fall out and you’ll have to get more clever with Tony’s positioning.

Thank you so much, some reason I never thought about canceling the normals into fly…(I’m stupid) =p

No problem. I can’t promise that whole thing will work, but I know you can cancel air normals into Airdash, Fly, Unibeam, and Bombs, but I think only Bombs will completely whiff and/or ruin any other chances of additional damage.

I just threw out the first thing that came to mind. I haven’t tested this and I don’t have the option to test right now. If you want to, try it from normal jump height and super-jump height. Normal jump height might be low enough for a fly/unfly ground combo into launch into nice damage. Super jump height might just be something like the combo I wrote up.

*Edit: Also, you’re not stupid. Just new. lol. At least you’re asking the questions. lol.

With my team Chris,Arthur and ironman i build meter with Chris. Then DHC into Arthur and just raw tag with ironman. With iron man on point I would do cr.c while hitting the Chris assist (machine gun) and I would fly cancel the cr.c and fly towards my opponents and depending where they at I would use his command air pokes. Most of the time I’ll get a full combo.

It’s best to fight with ironman from the middle if the screen so you can poke with H. Repulsive blast.

Unibeam assist also holds people in place for high/low tridash mix-ups, and it’s pretty easy to convert off of since they don’t budge from the spot they’re in. The only downside is that it scales the combo a bit due to all the hits.

Repulsor Blast is a great assist for a few characters (like Viper and Firebrand) who utilize unblockables because it catches incoming characters as soon as they fall into the screen. Repulsor Blast actually drags them down into the unblockable unless they advancing guard at the right times.

More characters seem to benefit from Unibeam than Repulsor Blast on average, and I’d say that even Viper and Firebrand benefit more from Unibeam despite the unblockable stuff they can do with Rep Blast.

I’d use Rep Blast if you have like, Doom with Plasma Beam in the back of the team or something.
