I see the comparison, and it’s absolutely fucking stupid. The Wii as a console just doesn’t have the power to run MvC3, not even with with all the magic in the world (seriously, the Wii is like 2 times stronger than the Gamecube). The raw power simply isn’t there even if the game was running at standard resolution. The game could very well get a Wii U port and that would be fine, since the hardware is more on par with the current gen consoles (final specs aren’t out yet but it should end up being slightly more powerful). What would be the issue here?
As far MT Framework goes (which is currently on every current gen console/handheld except for the PSP), it seems that it functions similarly to CryEngine 3 where the development is done on a PC, with the ability to compile the final result for the platform of choice. If true, then this means that compiling it for PC shouldn’t be much of an issue as the code should already be in place (that and there’s like 5-6 other MT Framework games on PC as it is). There are optimizations that have to be made for the PC version, such as allowing customization of settings and such.
The stupid in these PC game request threads hurts.
Whatever gets more people playing is good, I guess, but my impression from comments that Svensson has made about the SFIV games released on PC is that he really doesn’t care for that distribution model, but that is just my interpretation.
i voted no becaue i would smash my lap top in frusttration

jk, but i did vote no, only because i doubt i would enjoy it as much as xbox.
I don’t understand this, why would you not enjoy it as much as Xbox? This doesn’t make sense.
Only stupid if you don’t like making money. You have an engine that is capable of taking the games and outputting the desired result in a way which doesn’t really require any outside work other than making the game once. You don’t have to remake the game each time for each console as the engine is designed to handle that work.
It’s only a bad financial move on Capcom’s part if they release the game and it ends up selling less than expected, or if the development cost of said game for PC is too high and they would need to sell an unrealistic number of figures to break even. Or if they shift their focus from PC only to multi-platform, release a consolized game on PC and the game ends up selling less on all platforms than the first did on PC only (sup Crytek!). Not releasing the game at all is merely a neutral decision, it leaves them exactly where they were before at no risk involved (they lose any potential high or low number of sales they could have made). Anything about financial decisions coming from Capcom’s mouth should be taken with a grain of salt as they were still trying to push the whole 1 copy pirated = 1 lost copy argument before SSF4AE PC came out (which is also getting the 2012 patch, oh and this shit doesn’t even run on MT Framework).
…any retail stick would work by just plugging it in. So would 99.99% of customs. And if you’re on pad, well, the 360 pad just works, and there’s simple drivers for PS3 pads. This might have somehow been sarcasm, so I’m ending there.
What I don’t get is how it seems none of the detractors have ever used a computer for anything but posting on SRK before. A fucking 5 year $900 pre-built Gateway off the shelf at Best Buy is more than capable of running SSFIVAE at higher options settings than the 360 or PS3 without sacrificing any frame rate at all. And there’s no way in hell Capcom would be giving away free copies of AE PC if it had sold poorly enough they had taken a loss. And given that MvC3 is an MT Framework title, and the fact that they can easily get away with never putting a PC versions into a retail box, they’d hit profitable sales insanely quickly if they just go with DD. Stating that no top players play MVC3 on PC is silly as well, considering the amount of top players who switched over to AE PC.
People are just regurgitating the exact same shit they did in the “SSF4 for PC!” threads for a goddamned year. Including why it’s “stupid” and Capcom will “never do it because everyone on PC is a pirate LOLOLOLOLOL” shit. The only reason it’s not already on PC is because it was developed by CoJ. CoA fully embraces the PC market and DD, CoJ…does not. If there’s enough vocal demand, for long enough, we’ll see a PC version.
Whats expensive too is buying a console for a single game. It’s even worse for Xbox with paying for fucking multiplayer. If UMvC3 gets released on PC I’m not going to hesitate on selling my 360, it really does not fit my gaming style at all.
Consoles have very low anti aliasing to keep the FPS up, PC will always be a better version of the game if ported properly. AE on PC is solid after they patched the issues.
I got a PS3 mainly for fighting games because I wasn’t going to pay to play online, I normally borrow all my games from a friend though. Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit, paying to play online games where 99.99% of the games are P2P and are hosted by the players anyway? Then they double dip by adding ads all over the fucking dashboard which they get paid for? NOPE. Xbox players should have told MS to fuck right off just how the PC crowd did when they tried to make GFWL a paid service.
I’d buy it if it has good online, which is totally possible due to removing the limitations of the hardware of the consoles, but probably won’t happen because Capcom still doesn’t care.
well since ima pad player and i play on 360 im not sure how to get my pad working om my pc or laptop. i heard you have to buy something like a cord i dunno.
if you could mod stuff on umvc3 like on sf4 pc would be cool
You charge your pad via the USB cord right? Take that one, plug it into your PC, watch the driver installation stuff, and wala, you’ve got a pad that works with any pad supported game for PC.
Huh… Looks like you’re right. Sorry dudes, my PS3 only needed the charge cord and a little custom made driver to work. There might be a driver out there to get wireless XBox controllers to work with the cord, but I’m too lazy to look.
