Ultimate Dante Combo Thread. Jackpot! Yeah baby!

I was wondering, does anyone know the weird mechanic that prevents dante from doing cold shower right after a hammer hits? You always get his c.h if you dont delay it a little bit, and this never
made sense to me. Is there some sort of timer on cold shower after specials?

Pretty sure there isn’t. I’m not quite sure what you mean in the first place.

I posted above about a corner carry via Rapid Slash assist. Since, I’ve at least gotten it to WORK, but definitely not consistently (womp womp). So I was wondering if there were any other methods by which a Rapid Slash can corner carry. I saw ShadyK do a different one that looked like he called RS, then just did sMHS and cancelled S into a teleport(??). If so, I’m assuming that was via some kind of jump cancel or something. OR if the one I’ve already been tyring is best, that’s fine. i’d just like to know. lol

But the main thing is I’m trying to find some ways to make Rapid Slash functional for positioning. Rather than just a way to sneak in an extra 20k or whatever, I like that idea that I’ve optimally set up a DHC or put them into a corner, or whatever, with my stray un-used assist. Thanks!

I mean a full screen corner carry would be
…volcano > j.h air play killer bee > shs tk acid rain > hammer > dash RS+cold shower > stinger > teleport > skydance > reverb shock super.
Saves GB and WB for Vergil DHC.

Also for s into teleport I’m sure you know but you just SJC.

You could try RS then Volcano SJC teleport.
or
volcano beehive dash sh + call vergil (during the s or if you do extra shots the h) then teleport skydance.
That might work but no promises.
Honestly that (cold shower RS stinger) is one of the better extensions and I think it’s worth learning.

To corner carry off of a bnb with volcano do:
Ground series, stinger BC volcano, j.H airplay j.H dash M+Vergil H S xx teleport ( you are correct you have to jump cancel it). Then j.S. Then I usually am in the corner and can do Beehive xx million dollars. That way I save both bounces for vergil

Another question I imagine is pretty easy: when I hit and go into a normal BNB, but it’s a happy bday, I find the jH xx air play drops the point. Is there a standard alternative sequence for this situation? Is it just the ol jMH xx Killer Bee? (thought of that while typing this, will try it) or something else? Thanks again!

XF1 and XF2 are different, XF2 and XF3 are the same. no prob.

2 quick questions:

  1. Does Dark Hole give Dante any kind of fun extensions of note? I tend to run Dante Vergil Mag, but also like to put Dorm in Vergil’s place now and again. And since I’d gotten quite used to Rapid Slash extensions, was just wondering if there’s anything substantial we get from a Dark Hole instead. I assume we can call Dorm, then 2 hits of Cold Shower a la RS, but then is there anything much better from that than just Stinger into something, or Reverb Fireworks Super? Since we can’t Sky Dance off it like we can off RS. Just curious. <shrug>

I’d admittedly never really attempted learning Shot Loops, thinking it was ‘too advanced.’ But my Dante combos have leveled up significantly recently (yay, me) and I found myself, after a corner combo that goes Volcano jcH xx Air Play, jH, land, S, sjH xx Killer Bee, landing and thinking, “OK, now what?” But I’ve seen in some vids people dashing back and doing S xx Shotssssss, S xx Shotssssss (the s’s denoting many shots), and then in the case of CoosCoos’s vid at the top of the last page, he calls Vergil and goes into sj Sky Dance, etc. My question is, in doing those Shotssssss, does it need to be a specific number of H-presses to work properly? Or do you just mash em out till they fall and catch em w/ another S? Does it require exact precision? I’ll tinker w/ it when I’m able, but figured I’d ask so I don’t end up trying to practice the wrong stuff.

Ohhh there are sooo many better options than doing those 2 dark hole extensions you listed. You can look at the strange/dante video I posted in the other thread for a couple extensions in there.

The one I use is Call dorm, cold shower, prop shredder, SJ, skydance, Beehive -> Volcano~Beehive.

The optimal extension for dark hole is shown here. (NSFW Language in this video, it’s a joke video, so just mute it lol)

There’s another 2 extensions off shot loops making them easier, but they’re unoptimal compared to the above.

Shot loops into S~HHHHHHHH call Dorm

From here you can do 1 of 2 things, dash j.S or revolver. I prefer revolver because it’s my favorite dante move.

There’s another one in the strange video that you can use if you have groundbounce available still.

Volcano~beehive Backdash + call dorm, stinger+volcano SJC grapple. From here you can do the easy reverb~fireworks or you can stinger, Volcano~beehive.

Re corner shot loops: They are the hardest version of shot loops imo, as far as the timing, its the same thing as normal shot loops, but in order to get that down I recommend using a set amount of button presses to keep a rhythm.

Ive just never done shot loops, period. Midscreen or otherwise. lol it doesnt even need to be shot loops, I was just lookin for a decent ender after that corner sjH xx Killer Bee. Nuthin fancy, my execution is NOT my strong suit in this game. lol

As for the Dark Hole, when you speak of prop Shredder off it, are you talkin early in the combo, around when I might be Shredding anyway? Or are you saying Hole allows for a 2nd Shredder later in the combo? I’m assuming the former, but have to check. :slight_smile:

Edit: oooh, watched the video, it’s the latter, nice! lol now to see if I can do even 25% of that combo. hehe After that ‘late Shredder,’ can we just sj and Hammer like usual? or does HSD force us to go into the Acid Rain and all that?

No, it’s the latter. Check out the combo, it’s at the very end.

You can also see what I do for the groundbounce -> wallbounce in that video. Backdash, S~HH~Stinger. The extended double shot loops in the corner are an unnecessary risk.

No, you can super jump hammer post prop shredder. I think its one of the only launchers that has a set Hitstun. The groundbounce reset is easy enough, so I just naked skydance instead of hammer because it does more damage and builds way more meter.

@Gefen, are you asking me about the combo in that video? If so, that combo is off a throw so the j.H air play, j. H killerbee part doesn’t connect.
