It’s not so much that I think every character should be as good as any other character. Having diversity in tiers *is *what makes fighting games fun. A totally balanced fighter can tend to get rather bland after a while, regardless of how well-made it is. That said, a fighter in which 1 or 2 characters dominate the majority of the cast can also get bland.

What we really need is Hyper Real Life fighter 4: Taint Kick Edition: Fate of Two Testes.

I agree with yun being too good. I am using him for a reason. I haven’t liked sf4 since vanilla honestly. AE is horridlt unbalanced and needs a change.

i think capcom’s balance team is probably scrubby. With every new iteration they’ve been nerfing Ryu lolol. Like wtf?? Ok maybe from vanilla to super wasn’t that bad but AE ryu is sooo bad. Have you guys seen the new low forward? it’s so pathetic. They almost halved the active frame on it. They probably play a lot online and just nerf the shit out of any characters that they frequently get bodied by or get annoyed by. Just look at Abel, Blanka, and Cammy (im sure there are more), there were no reasons to nerf them so hard as they did lol. Same story with gen from vanilla to super. The balance team just nerfs any characters they find difficult to handle (mix ups, shenanigans, etc etc) when in reality they’re not too hard to handle once you learn the match up.

btw did rufus change at all in ae except the ultra 2 nerf.

and i like the list, with the best iterations of each character and just a few nerfs on the twins(mostly yun but yang has some stupid stuff too) then i think it would be a balanced but still aggressive, but can still play lame game

Hmm… I can’t remember, but I’m pretty sure that was the big thing. Pretty shitty that characters bounce out now if it anti-airs. Another example of a pointless nerf in this version. :bluu:

Mike your list is gdlk, though i’d make minor changes.

AE Bison is plenty strong. Super Bison was just stupid. Scissor your ass all day long in corner lol.
Super Guile was too strong IMO, a good blend of Super and AE Guile would be perfect. Return his damage nerf and meter nerf by 50% would be just right on I think. The air grab in AE should be kept.
Finally, Fei in Super was near perfect. Just get rid of invinci heavy chicken and give him some(not all) of his new tools in AE and he’s good to go.

Yeah, there were definitely some minor changes I’d like to add to the list.

I’d find a happy balance somewhere in the middle for Abel and Fuerte’s Ultras. I also agree with the Bison Scissors. LK Scissors all day is no fun. Guile should definitely have some adjustments made, like you said. I’d say give him the original damage back on Sonic Hurricane, and increase his meter building by 25%. I counted how many raw Booms it took to build one meter: twenty…freaking…five. :bluu: Maybe a sliiight tweak to Honda’s LP Headbutt, too. It doesn’t have to be as amazing as it was in SUPER, but it’d be nice if Honda players could once again use it as an anti-air to some degree. I also wasn’t a fan of them making Gouken’s backthrow scale the damage of his Ultra, considering the throw doesn’t actually do damage. If they’re going to do that, maybe just don’t make it scale quite so much.

As far as the new characters go, I think E. Ryu is just fine the way he is. Yang is really good, but I think he’s pretty much perfect the way he is – not too much, not too little. Oni could benefit from a move property change or two. For instance, maybe make Demon Slam safer on block by a frame or FADC-able, or make HK Demon Slash jugglable after a successful hit. Really even a little buff would make Oni feel much more well-rounded.
