You should have a VOOT tourney, Keits.
That Force post on the front page got me all pumped to dig this out again.
We have done some discussion in the past about running VOOT, but there are a lot of technical issues that give us problems in setting it up. Now, if there was a large amount of interest in it, we might re-consider.
What technical issues are in the way besides having to setup two stations for each game?
Also, what would a sufficient amount of interest be? 'Cause I’m totally serious and would shop the idea around to some VO/mech communities myself.
EDIT: Wait, I recognize your gamertag. We’ve played against each other before, haven’t we?
Two setups is the main issue, also uncertainty as to how 360’s link up (I’m sure its not terribly hard to get working but I personally have never tried it), and streaming it is unclear since you would only get one viewport. None of these are necessarily difficult to overcome, but they are concerns.
As far as sufficient interest, it’s hard to say an exact number and it would be more of keit’s decision than mine. That said, knowing keits, if you can get enough people, he’ll run it at least as a side event. So if you want it run get people talking about it and posting.
And yes, we have played together before. I don’t play VOOT often anymore but occasionally.
The question becomes, is it worth giving the space/equipment for 2-4 stations for what will inevitably be 8 VOOT players or less? I honestly cannot see a good number of people coming out for VOOT, even though I’d love to see it. I’m open to discussion about it, but I’m honestly leaning toward a ‘no’ right now. Sometimes, you have to ask if the juice is worth the squeeze!
Well if not VOOT, I could see VOF being there due to not having to have multiple consoles for local multiplayer.
Don’t get me wrong. I know the numbers are almost definitely not there. I just had to pose the question, you know?
VOOT system link is as easy as hooking an ethernet cable from one console to another. You just have to have a copy of the game on each console and make sure that one of them is set to 2P (RNA) side. You can also link up with just one purchased copy of the game if you jump through some authentication hoops on Xbox Live when you start up the game.

You should ban wireless controllers unless they get a wavier from you. That way you can explain to new people how and why they turn them off and you can just let the wolfkrones and vangiefs play.
How will seating work for this tourney. Mwc was a bit heavy with heavy hitters on one end in ssf4 not that it matters cream rises to the top but just wondering if it will be random or what.
