UFGT7 - Evo 2011 Tournament Season Qualifier - Chicago IL - May 27-29, 2011

Hey everyone, I’m back and ready to announce the sequel to Midwest Championships 2010. As many of you know, I borrowed the “MWC” name from DreamTR last year as he decided not to run one. While my tournament was fundamentally different from past MWCs, it was very successful overall as an entry into the modern style of console tournament. I am running another tournament in a similar style, but DreamTR has asked for the MWC name back to run something of his own, perhaps at his arcade in Tennessee, so we are changing names!

Back in 1997 all the way through 2002, I ran a series of 6 tournaments under the name Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament (UFGT) out of Cincinnati, Ohio. So now, I bring you UFGT7: Resurrection! I’m giving you 9 months notice on the dates, so no excuses! Get that time off and make those travel plans!

Website? Visit us at Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament | May 27-29, 2011 ? Chicago, IL - You can register for the event here!

When? May 27th, 28th, and 29th, 2011. 3 full days of tournament madness, including an evo-style Sunday finals day. Tournaments begin on Friday at 11am, so be in by then or risk disqualification.

Where? Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook. Same hotel as last year, though many of your complaints have been addressed. We are moving to a bigger ballroom, and getting two smaller rooms across the hall for byoc and side events, more than doubling the amount of space we had last year!

Address:
2875 N. Milwaukee Avenue
Northbrook, IL 60062
Click here to book your rooms at the amazing rate of $69/night!

Flying in? Please fly into to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, IL. From here, you will be able to take a shuttle or a taxi to the venue. Details on the shuttle service will be posted at a later date.

The hotel would like me to collect arrival and departure times for my guests, so that we can arrange the airport shuttle service. This hotel does not normally run a shuttle to the airport, so this special setup cannot run as often as a normal shuttle. If we can pin down the arrival times, we can try to make it convenient for as many people as possible.

The hotel also has a list of cab and limo services to help shuttle people.

So, please email me keits(at)shoryuken(dot)com your flight information and ill start a database, so we can try to make this work for as many of you as possible.

Event Registration? Event Registration is ONLINE ONLY. At-the-door registrations will be allowed only in emergencies at an increased price. The online registration is available now, so don’t wait! Payouts?

The Ultimate Payout Structure (UPS) for UFGT7, Summary;
Note that, while this is close to finalized, it is still subject to small changes

The goals of this system are
1.) To pay the top 10% of tournament entries, rounded based on double elimination’s massive ties.
2.) To ensure that the lowest available payout is your entry fee +
3.) To ensure that everyone who is getting paid always gets paid more each time a new person enters the tournament.

The payscale changes when a new entry benchmark is reached. A scaling pot bonus will also be added to the total prize pot at every benchmark.

A Tournament With * Number of players will have payouts to the top * with a pot bonus of *.

Entries ----------------- Pays ----------------- Pot Bonus
8-15 ------------------ Top 1 ------------------ $0
16-31 ----------------- Top 2 ------------------ $50
32-63 ----------------- Top 3 ------------------ $100

Venue Features? Spacious hotel rooms with two beds each. Each room has an LCD TV you can game on, though they do lag a little bit, and you must plug into them via RCA. The hotel will be selling cash concessions in the ballroom, so no outside food or drink will be allowed. It will be the same reasonably priced, pretty damn good stadium style eats as last year (hot dogs, burgers, etc). The hotel has a bar, and I do allow you bring your drinks back to the ballroom so long as it doesnt become a problem. Anyone seen giving alcohol to minors will be ejected from the tournament without warning.

**Rules and Regulations - **

All participants who win money must be over the age of 18 with ID, or have a parent or guardian present at time of payment. All participants who win $600 or more will be required to fill out legal paperwork before their winnings can be collected.

All participants are responsible for knowing which tournament pools they are playing in. Pools for every game start at 12 noon on Friday May 27th. Participants must check in at their pools within the 15 minutes before the pool is scheduled to start. If, for example, you are in a 3PM pool, you can check into your pool at 2:45PM, and you must be checked in BY 3PM, or you are already disqualified from your bracket. We will not wait for you, we will not call your name if you have not checked in. Your time will be carefully scheduled. We will be on time, and we expect you to be too.

2 participants will advance out of each tournament pool. One in the winners side and one in the losers side. This will enter both into a semi-final pool that is scheduled later. All semi-finalists are required to check into their semi final pool 15 minutes before it starts, just like a normal pool.

If you are disqualified from any game, you are not entitled to a refund of any kind. Be on time and in the right place.

All controllers must be wired to the console. Wireless controllers are prohibited at the event. If you use a wireless controller connected to a console via USB, you must go to the desyncing station IMMEDIATELY after each of your matches and sync your controller to it using your USB cable. Failure to do so will result in your disqualification and/or the confiscation of your control device until the end of the event. Do not be selfish or lazy. Pausing someone else’s tournament match because you didn’t want to properly sync to the desyncing station can ruin their weekend and is unacceptable behavior.

Turbo and program functions on controllers are banned. If you are caught using them, you will be disqualified on the spot. If a match is paused during play, press nothing and get your pool judge. The player who’s controller is responsible for the pause will take a loss for the match or round. If you have a controller malfunction, stop playing and contact a judge. If the controller is actually malfunctioning, you will be allowed a re-start. If it is not, you will take a loss for the match.

All raffle drawings will happen on Sunday during finals day at approximately 5PM. If you are not present during the drawings, you cannot win. Raffles are ticket based, and you ARE allowed to give your tickets to a friend and let him win for you, especially in the event that you must leave early and your friend can stay for the raffle drawings.

Individual Game Rules are as follows;

Marvel vs Capcom 3 - Default settings. 2 out of 3 matches. At either player’s request, matches will be played on the Daily Bugle stage. This request must be made before the match starts. Loser may change characters/assists. Winner cannot change characters or assists. Both players may alter their order by holding A1 or A2 during loading. Top 8 will play on Sunday.

Super Street Fighter 4 - Default settings. 2 out of 3 matches. At either player’s request, matches will be played on the training stage. This request must be made before the match starts. Loser may change character/ultra. Winner may change ultra after the loser changes characters, but before he selects his ultra. Top 8 will play on Sunday.

Mystery Game Tournament - Default button settings unless otherwise instructed. Controllers will be provided. Number of matches in a set will vary. A different game will be played every round of the tournament (Winners 1 is all GameX, while Losers 2 is all GameY, etc). Every pool will have different games. Top 8 will play on Sunday.

NICE! TFA will be there

2nd post again just like sb5 lol adam as usual lemme know if you need anything MWA will be there
LEMME ON DAT STAFF!

Adam, you still put the FGT in UFGT.

Damn. It’s that time already? Just Joking. The Fighters Alliance is looking forward to this, that’s for damn sure.

Green Bay!!!

<3 <3 <3

Hope you UFGT OGs can make it out.

keits you’re missing an awefully dark man in that staff list u got there.

100000000000000000% hype!!!

I’ll be there.

Already on my schedule. Adam let me know if you need some additional help.

For sure. I’m definitely excited and looking forward to this. I think having more than double the space will definitely be great. Hopefully it’ll run a lot smoother as well.

Don’t worry, we’ve learned a lot from our mistakes and oversights.

Tekken Ball should get a $500 pot bonus

Missed it this year, will make sure to make it next year. If you need help, I’m always willing to lend a hand.

Needs Jojo’s with Shadow Dio banned and Darkstalkers with Oboro Bishamon banned for the reason of “because John said so.” Also needs Ooga Booga and Sonic Shuffle. Maybe Mario Party 4 with Mario banned because the game just gives him stars. Don’t spam taunt or Keits will rip the controller out of the port. Luckily the game will continue to spam taunt on it’s own just to spite him. Lastly to truly recreate the UFGT, you’re gonna need KoF 97 keychains and Titan AE action figures. Just not the same without them. There’s nothing like sitting in a room with 6 TVs all playing the Last Blade 2 character select music.

I’ll be there with my revamped cabinet.

Mow - So I take it that means you are coming?

Look at that staff lineup. Shit’s sick. Especially that TuboWare guy… I heard he’s pretty good at getting shit done on time

It’s gunna be hella fun. Last year was great, and this year will be even better. Save the date!

I’m taking Mystery Game this year BTW. Kurasa better pray that we don’t have a HHH rematch!

May 2011? I’ll be there

Sounds good, Keits! I will try to make it, for real. I’d definitely like to see that GGXXAC. Also, if you’re doing pools, it would be cool if there were some way to get seeded for that. Maybe just by using Tonamento, or perhaps by using rankings from other tournaments. I have a feeling you’ll handle it.
