When is there usually a crowd at the Zot Zone, anyway?
well, midterms are just about done, i think, so, if all is normal, check from around 11 am to 2 pm. People start thinning out around 3ish, leaving mostly the people that pick the top tiers to try and beat their respective games.

that kind just leaves only eugene and doug…and a lot of “one move wonders”…and plus i’m not sure if doug is pissed at me or the stick or whatever it is when i play him…or if it’s just some habit he has when he plays fighting games…but it kind of takes the fun out of trying to beat him when he seems mad when i get close to beating him…i mean geez…he’s good…i want to beat him…but when i get him with a super he always seems like that he thinks i got lucky or something…and not because i planned it out…(although sometimes i get lucky…that’s true…yea shut up eugene…you deserved those wake up supers…stop cornering me…lol)
oh yea…not to mention…the sticks there REALLY REALLY suck ass:mad: :bluu:
somethings i like to mention about my last day… i got a 17 win streak 
my best win streak yet…the first 4 wins came from GTO…
caliscrub:i think zotzone only has good 3S competition right now…most of the marvel players are gone or just come in rarely…a lot of the cvs2 players are gone…and the rest are blanka/sagat/cammy happy people who(for the most part) only kno how to use the two blue buttons(fierce and roundhouse)
i’d say RFC and camelot are better places to go for good comp…

Well, the thing is that UCI is only 3 miles away from my work, so I was hoping for activity around 7-8 pm or so. Also, I don’t know if I need THAT HIGH of a CvS2 competition pool; I haven’t frequented an arcade regularly for more than half a year, and even then, I can’t RC consistently to save my life. 3 random rolls, 1 non-RCed special, and 1 actual RC per 5 tries isn’t going to win me any games vs world-class competition anyway. I’m down for some “just decent” competition, and even that might be a little high for me.

People still hang on cvs2 (and third strike) long after the peak hours. Not everynight will you be able to play someone, but almost everytime I’ve stopped by at around seven, people are still at it. And, since most of the “good” people play during the day, this arrangement might be right up your alley as you won’t have insanely good competition coming at you (that’s right, marcass and allen are both scrubs. Nate’s alright, though), but probably enough to get you back in it.

Caliscrub: yea…no one RCs at zot zone…except for me, doug,and eugene…but i play K groove…and eugene thinks the sticks are too shitty to rely on RC’s…and doug…well…he’ll own you regardless of what tactic/groove/character he chooses…he just…too good, especially for someone who only play casuals…
7-8…there’s almost no one there…except for maybe the ddr guys who like to play cvs2…they like to play on the same team… as in switchin off between characters…there’s lots of people at zot that are fun to play…but they’re mostly around from 2-5pm…
11am-2pm is usually when some of the better players kind of dominate for a bit…or rather i should say doug just dominates for a bit…
but yea…zot zone is pretty good for fun matches…hope you have fun there…

It’s alright, I will accept a ratio one and half of my ratio 2 getting beat by your maki because you were pissed off that I “pulled that running shit on you” several times before. But why can’t you just tell me to stop playing maki instead of trying to fucking discourage me from playing the game ever again with your random (and lucky, might I add) 720 garbage. Goddamned joysticks didn’t let me do 720s …it’s just not fair.
Oh, and, Allen, you need to learn more punctuation that just straight ellipses.
In other news, it seems that arcades are getting all heated up, recently. Anthony told me that I absolutely must attend some third strike tournaments at interface and family fun, I believe? Besides those two, Regency is the current hot spot. I don’t think I’ll ever go there again, however, seeing as how I should quit while I’m ahead with my performance against some of those top players (no, I didn’t actually win a match. Exciting).

Yes, he is pissed at you. He is pissed at CvS2, 3s, and life in general.
The only truly fun way to play against him is to mess with his head like Cevant used to. Act really friendly towards him and watch him squirm.
hey hey, i’m one of the blue button users, but i’m actually pretty decent at it…except against doug. The bottom line is, the sticks kinda suck, and there’s very little chance of them improving, so yeah…get your s-groove on!
I recently saw Jack owning the CPU with a-groove sakura…he got like 1558 GP points, man. Nice sho-sho-sho action. Oh yeah, I saw some other guy trying to do the blanka super cross-up…failed everytime he tried…ahh man…
Anyways, my boss told me that I would be able to run a CvS2 tournament either late this quarter or sometime in the spring. Anyone interested? I think I need a certain number of people to show up, but I didn’t go into depth into the specifics yet, so yeah…just a heads up.
But considering that the sticks probably won’t be in proper condition for most of the complainers, I’m considering making this…an S-groove tournament! Ha ha ha! It will be fun, yes?
No need to complain about missed RCs, activations, JDs, whatnot…maybe some missed dodges, but so what…haha

BTW, if anyone knows the zz worker who blasts the Roland speakers (the one at the counter) all during his/her shift, then please tell me…that person has been jacking up the speakers for TOO LONG!

hmm. when you have a more solid date, make a post on the tourney & events section. Make some kind of sign at zz that basically asks for people who are serious about entering the tourney to leave their name and srk name (if applicable), so you can get a roster to show your boss. i’ll be happy to enter. As for the sticks, ask if it’s possible to get a technician to redo the wiring, 'cause the problem may just be that the wires have long since past their life expectancy, or they may have just burned out a long the way. Which could explain why buttons won’t respond, sticks won’t register directions, etc.
As for marvel, the okay’s been given to use the donated sticks, and give marvel the 3s treatment it’s been needing. No more 8ways, it’s all about the 360s. IIRC, cvs2 already has 'em, but they’re acting up 'cause nobody’s really taken the time to check 'em. The technician that rolls around usually only runs the diagnostic menu and then resets…lame.
Hopefully this will go smoothly, and we can get the word out on a new area for the games that people want to play. Everyone always wants arcades closer than ff, or camelot.

Hey wepeel. Let’s set our sights a little higher. Let’s try to get a tourney for all three going on one day. In order to do this, you’re going to have to persuade your boss to make the machines a quarter for that day only. It would be too much of a hassle to hand out quarters for all three tournies. Abel and I can help you get this thing started. But we got to set some priorities. 1) Persuade your boss to make 3S, MVC2, and CVS2 a quarter on tourney day and 2) Fix the machines.

okie dokie…I got some facts today:
My boss isn’t able to set the machines at one quarter because Primetime Amusement controls that. The tournament has to be pay-to-play. There were a few times, like during some elementary school field trips, or the beginning of fall quarter, where ALL the cabinets in zz (even Stryker) were on free play, so I’m guessing I just don’t have the right kind of authority to ask for a lowered fee =\
But anyway, the “huge bag of quarters” system will have to suffice for now…so yeah, it’s a bit of a hassle, but at least you only pay 1 quarter to play.
About that multiple tourney thing…if people can run the other 2 games (Kaising and MutantXP come to mind), then I guess that’s cool, but we would still need people to sign up, so sometime this week (hopefully soon if I have time), I’ll post up a flyer that will be posted on those 3 games that will tell you where to sign up for the game(s) you’re interested in competing in.
Hmmm…the fee will be $5 dollars per person, per game (if we can pull that off). So yeah, sign up only if you are serious about competing!
Now, in terms of fixing the machine…ehehe…
I dunno what I can say to the technician. I don’t know too much about joysticks, so maybe if one of you guys see him browsing the arcade, ask him to take a (good) look at the CvS2 wiring…heh, I didn’t even know CvS2 had 360s in them. Which brings me to a point that no one addressed…

Cuz if the sticks aren’t gonna be fixed…then I think this would alleviate a lot of frustration due to the executions, and would just make it more fun in general, cuz I don’t see any S-groove regulars…
And maybe some sort of anti-top-tier tourney for MvC2, since watching a bunch of sentinel/cable/commando games doesn’t sound like fun…how about “capcom only”…haha…Abel owned my MSP with shotos ^_^;;;

The last, and probably most important thing is the date of this event. I’m guessing that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday would be the best times (since no one is there). I was thinking maybe…7th or 8th week? Something that wouldn’t conflict too much with future plans and midterms and finals and papers and whatnot…if the majority of people think that next quarter would be better, then it will be next quarter…
So in closing, the “majority” I’m talking about really consists of you guys. Not GTU or Rock-scrub or OneSource, but you guys, the people who post about the games they like to play. In other words…

about the S groove tourny(since sticks are broken):
-one button characters like blanka, guile, sagat, cammy are favored
-RC is completely nulled out
-throwing becomes more effective
-there are no parry or Jd system to stop abused fierces/roundhouse
-no CC’s to destroy someone easily
so i’m gonna have to pass on the s-groove tourny since everything mentioned favors you
and plus…all the characters i like to use have no way to get in without JD or RC moves or rolling…well except mai…so…no S groove tourny for me…

i think we should really get the sticks fixed, especially if want some “known” players to show their face at zot zone…i’m pretty sure about 90%-100% of the people at zot zone would like to see a alex valle vs doug match…i kno i would.
it should be anti-top/high tier characters then…
but then again…might not work out either since a lot of other character have big advantages over the rest of the characters…(i.e. iceman, ken…etc…etc…)
sure, ill get my ass kicked for $5 plus pay per play. Maybe ill even play 3s!!! watch out for the krazy ken kombat komboes!!! and watch out for the “suck” in my playing, its hard to miss.
