Now, as for bullying in general, people who get bullied generally tend to bring it upon themselves (think highschool weeaboos)

My point is that this is a hazing/bullying that EVERY new recruit goes through. It’s not this one guy being singled out because he’s Asian (like thousands of others in the military). That’s a subtle but important distinction.

While I’d love to see bullies who torment their victims to the point of suicide get punished for their imbecilery (not a word, I know, I don’t care), this isn’t reasonably enforceable. The deceased’s mental stability will always, always cast doubt on the bully’s impact, which is a good thing: this isn’t Mexico and we shouldn’t be punishing based on anything but real, solid evidence.

(Fully aware the US/Canada/other first world countries have legal systems all too often influenced by money.)

They’re no longer allowed to touch/grab/shove you. They can only say “Hell”. This is from mid-1997 when I was in basic training in Lackland, and no doubt has been watered down even further from back when they informed us of the changes being made by pampered over-priviledged kids contacting their parents about the mean T.I.'s not acknowledging that they are each special shining stars like their parents told them they were. Bleeding hearts are trying to turn the armed forces into a mess…like Afghanistan troops.

"I had the good fortune to command a battalion that was racially very mixed. Towards the end, I had five company sergeant majors who were all black. They were without exception UK-born, Nottingham-born men who were English - as English as you and me.
"They prospered inside my regiment, but if you’d said to them, ‘Have you ever been called a nigger,’ they would have said, ‘Yes.’ But equally, a chap with red hair, for example, would also get a hard time - a far harder time than a black man, in fact.

There was no hazing in my boot camp or my Station. Really our hazing is if a private came in from boot camp and thought he knew everything we would just do something that would make him look stupid. Have him go around asking for a PrickE-8 or check for blinker fluid in the Humvee, shit like that. They might look stupid for a min and have to do some pushups but nothing major. Hazing itself is a stupid practice that needs to die out.

Bullying became a problem because schools took away the ability for kids to defend themselves. Kids used to learn to stick up for themselves but these days you get arrested and suspended for extended periods of time for even shoving someone. It used to be that if someone was a problem, you dealt with it and you moved on. But these pussy ass schools took that away just like they took away dodge ball.

Sorry for the double post but this. I got into a few fights in school when I finally stuck up for himself. At worse I would have to run some laps or sit by himself for awhile. Now if I would have done that I would be getting 2 weeks suspension and probably expelled after my mom would have went up there and tried to beat up the principal for getting onto me for sticking up for myself.

Also all these people who still think the Military is nothing but white people from the sticks just show they do not know shit about shit. The Military now is racial diverse to say the least and if anything the biggest problem is gang members. My unit alone up to 40 pct of the Unit were involved in an active gang. We had a well known Crip who slept right across the hall from a Blood but there was nothing either could to to each other without getting thrown in military prison. If you think Civilian Prisons are bad, they don’t have a damn thing on Military Prisons.
