U.S. soldiers charged over death of 'racially-bullied' teenage Asian-American who 'committed suicide

Is bully beatdown still around?

Throw these guys in their with Jon Jones one at a time.

i saw a lot of hazing and fucking with new guys in the marines. anyone who showed the slightest sign of weakness got ruthlessly mocked. the new guys to infantry units, their life was fucking hell for them.

this shit is way more common than you think. there are a lot of assholes in the military.

EDIT: I originally thought that there could be a different angle to this, but F it, this is messed up and speculation is only wish full thinking. Military life can be a rough one.

That’s pretty much child socialization in a nutshell.

Of course they’re idiots. That’s why you have to interfere with their free will sometimes.

I had read about the rocks in a couple of articles since the UK one, but not the “pseudo water boarding”.

Even so, it seems like a hazing thing more than bullying him because he’s Asian. (And I mean, there are thousands of Asians in our armed forces) As far as hazing goes, neither the rocks nor the pseudo water boarding are that extreme. Honestly, some of the stuff I’ve seen at my friends’ fraternities is way worse.

hazing at a frat is completely different bcuz pledges choose to deal with the brothers nonsense and can leave at any time. not to mention the fact that a college campus is nothing like a warzone.

I dunno. If a girl made a face like that at me, I’d eat her tongue out (no cannibal).

Yeah, and hazing in the military is even more of a tradition than it is for frats.

Anyways, you can agree or disagree with whether hazing should occur in the military. My point is that this case looks like a simple matter of “hazing” instead of “racial bullying” or whatever.

Heh, I can’t tell which statement you’re expressing disapproval with!

Nothing makes me happier. Caveat: it shouldn’t become a witch hunt though; punish actual bullies.

Also, hazing is bullying.

It’s already bad enough that you are in a warzone, and it sure as hell doesn’t help that the guys who are supposed to have your back in battle are making your life a living hell day in and day out.

He should have just joined the Taliban…

To me, hazing is a temporary initiation all new members must go through.

Meanwhile, bullying is singling out an individual for potentially endless torment. It’s not even close to the same.

Oh man no he wouldn’t have lasted ten minutes in the Taliban.

“Welcome, YOU TALIBAN ACOUNTANT NOW!”

I see no point in hazing if you’re end up all buddy-buddy with them in the end. It’s stupid. “Oh, you publicly humiliated me and then expect me to be your friend? Fuck you.”

I’m glad I don’t have to quote all the idiots here like slayerofbodom since their own stupidity is doing job tightening the rope around their necks. We all know the world is becoming more pussified in fear of hurting other people’s feeling but that doesn’t excuse immoral and illegal behavior. You would think those who choose to sacrifice their life for millions they’ve never met should know better than to act like they’re in highschool, whatever happened to standards of decency?

I’m just glad the fuckers were caught and are getting punished. Also the “look I was bullied so that other guy who was bullied shouldn’t complain” argument is as immature and laughable as the conduct of these “soldiers”.

Wrong. “To you” means squat; this isn’t a subjective matter. Hazing is bullying. It’s unwanted harassing behavior, whether or not it’s for initiation.

Well said, but try not to get too hung up on how idiotic other posters are. It’s a tad… ironic.

Hazing is a part of the military, the Army in particular. There have been tons of incidents like this in the past, that never saw the light of day in national news, and I know this for a fact. If this is the case that finally changes the system, great.

I’m not excusing anything. Hazing sucks. I think it’s a retarded practice. I understand why it occurs, but I’m not condoning it, either.

However, it’s not the same thing as “racial bullying”. Not even fucking close. Next time, actually read my posts, instead of instantly pissing your pants in rage and assuming, dude.

You can define things however you like. Fine, call hazing bullying. Whatever.

My point is that this is a hazing/bullying that EVERY new recruit goes through. It’s not this one guy being singled out because he’s Asian (like thousands of others in the military). That’s a subtle but important distinction.
