You know the more I play tekkaman blade against good players the more I think he’s not actually that good. High level matches, there is NO ROOM to breath. If they get on top of you, you’re gonna have a hell of a time getting out and getting some room to breath. If he just had regular ground dashes he’d be fucking amazing but as is all he has is block, 236 super, or go for the risky auto guard on 4C. I’ve switched to polimar as my second for Zero and have had a LOT better results.
Yeah serious, the inability to do multiple 623A/B/C in the air took away some of his air combos and his ability to play keepaway. He’s still very solid though. I could still do my main Ken/Tekka combo I learned from those a-cho videos a long time ago so I’m happy about that. Still, other characters are beginning to look like they have more potential than Ken but only time will tell I guess.
Lol Blade handles rushdown fine. Learn to advanceguard into crash interlude, and learn to use the A-mashy-move.
also, Ken gets a fully combo off his overhead now without BBQ or assist. He is still good.
Not speculation: Zero is the new Karas. Post megacrash corner combos that give him two bars coupled with the fact that his corner loop builds his meter at a faster rate than the opponent.
Speculation: …granted it is early, but the game may very well turn into Zero or who can fight Zero.
Couldn’t it just be that the tactics you use don’t work against good playerS? Not to insult your skill level or anything but Blade is legit. Also what is this high level of play you speak of ?
PTX players have been placing high in tournaments, well for the first week. I guess this is because PTX can advance through the campyness with his riot tackle, and with the new wavedash technique that hasn’t been mastered yet, and his baroque combo probably causes the most damage more so than any other baroque combo. It can cause 40-45 billion damage with 30-35% red life. Or it can either be because nobody knows how to play against the giants… well they can… but they aren’t absolute masters of beating giants, its also character dependant, some characters are good vs giants, others aren’t. I can see most people having a giant prepared for either their secondary or third main team.

Out of 20 people.
1st: Xian - PTX-40A
2nd: Magic0722 - Casshan/Roll, Casshan/Yatterman-1
3rd: Nameless9999 - PTX-40A
4th: Seiba - Ken/Morrigan, Saki/Ken
5th: Fats - Alex/Tekkaman, Polymar/Chun li
5th: DynaDash - Saki/Zero
7th: Vivid Distortion - Gold Lightan
7th: The Umby - Tekkaman Blade/Ryu, Tekkaman Blade/Zero
If Gold Lightan was the worst character in this game, he wouldn’t have placed. Show’s proof that PTX is a very viable for top level play.
every character is viable
lightan’s still the worst
Um… 7th is not really placing. And people just dont know how to fight him yet. I promise you Lightan is the worst in the game. (And yes, I’ve place with him before too, raping people who just dont know what to do yet)
oh LOL! I clicked the link… that was an ONLINE TOURNAMENT?
That shit 100% does not count. Online is a totally different game from the real game, where giants are very very stupid godlike. This is not ‘top level play’ in the real TvC.
damn straight
A poorly organzied one at that. I like tournaments where I sign up days in advance and don’t even get put on the bracket…
I mean he’s legit I’m just saying, his ground movement is definitely a liability when going against the extremely offensive characters in the cast. It’s harder to make space with him without taking a risk. But yeah other than that he’s great. I just imagine the strategy at tournaments is going to be to get on top of blade and never let his ass get a chance to move and work his game. I guess the Tekkaman player will just need good patience and a rock solid defense to succeed with that character.
I’d like to think two people who placed at final round in TVC is a decent level of play but that’s just my opinion.
Recorded some matches last night so I guess once those get up I’ll let you be the judge. (no t-blade in the videos though since I didn’t use him in money matches)
I see what you’re saying his ground movement is a huge turn off for me that’s what I was saying. I wasn’t aware of where you from or who you was playing so thats why I was like what high level of play LoL. But still who knows how the tourney scene will unfold for this game. Also can’t you just like push blcok then use his super ?
Is his super completely safe? I haven’t tested it yet to make sure. Either way, I don’t like the idea of having to blow meter where simply back dashing and super jumping away works for everyone else. Would rather save meter for mega crash if I could.
I just hard that it’s ridic fast. So it seems like a good punish to me.
Yeah I’m just saying that’s still not that great of an option when you’re risking getting punished for ridiculous amounts of damage because you just spent meter and now can’t burst. That is, if it’s punishable. Otherwise you’re just back in their face with no momentum again in the same situation only with one less meter. I mean it’s a good whiff punish when you’re outside of 2B range but I’d rather 2B into a relaunch combo for more damage and build meter if I was just push blocking and they whiffed something.
God I hope that’s not the case. Alex and Zero is my team. I don’t want people thinking I’m a tier whore. :bluu:
