TVC UAS Tier list speculation thread

Tekkaman Blade is an auto-loss.

For characters that are good at controlling their aerial descent through special moves, it’s literally impossible for him to win unless the opponent makes a major fuckup.

I want to go to an official Tourney someday and play with my Alex/Frank Combo. I want to prove Frank West is just good if not better =P than everyone else. (Not the best, but still PRETTY darn good. Found out some good cancels.)

My Spec Tier List:

High Tier:
Alex, Batsu, Casshern, Frank West, Kaijin no Soki, Karas, Ken the Eagle, Polimar, PTX-40A, Roll, Ryu, Tekkaman Blade, Yatterman-1, Zero

Normal Tier:
Chun-Li, Doronjo, GS Lightan, Ippatsuman, Joe the Condor, Jun the Swan, Megaman Volnutt, Morrigan, Saki, Tekkaman, Viewtiful Joe, Yatterman-2

Because that’s all it MIGHT need, if even that. All characters are pretty balanced, so with random, you’re pretty much set for a more-or-less even game. Plus it also matters how GOOD you are with a person. I’ve known to do some really extensive damage with VJoe. And this is all pretty much speculation, but anyways~

Unless you’re willing to go into specific detail about that tier list, I have to say that’s a pretty crappy list. Zero worse than PTX? Yatterman-2 the worst character? Frank West the fourth best character? That’s just a few specific examples. Your list is just wrong all over the place. Did you play this game for 10 minutes and go “yep, I can make a professional tier list now.”?

Looking at it, I don’t think he put them in rank order within the tiers, it all looks a bit alphabetical to me.

yep, it’s alpabet. he just is stating what class they are in- he hasn’t sorted them on who’s better then who in their respective tiers yet.

Yeah, I notice it now, but it’s still a very poor tier list. To be a bit more specific, Gold Lightan has no right to be even in the same tier as Volnutt, Saki, or Tekkaman. All three of those characters can curbstomp Lightan without much difficulty, and both Roll and Frank are too dependant on a specific partner to be in the top half of the list.

Why don’t you all just stop fighting and just agree that everyone is A-tier and Lightan is FAIL-tier.

That would make thing too easy. This is serous busyness

Who’s Miss Elizabeth then?

Serious people.

Is this not what happened with the last game? We (America) were only into the games tiers and never got any good at the game while Japan showed us all kinds of crazy things in the game.

What teams are looking really good? Because Casshern/Polymar and Ken/Tekkaman really did run the last game. Outside of those two teams, no other teams really had those kinds of tools and team dynamic.

I would go with Casshern/Alex more than any other teams in the game. I think they both work well with the other and have ever team option in the game at their fingertips.

Who do you guys see as the best team in the game??? and why. If I need to open up more on why I feel like this team is the best I will but I would really like to see this thread go somewhere positive soon and I think a team based tierlist would be better.

Saetan, that opens up an interesting question. While it is generally agreed on this thread that Zero and Jun are very high tier, both of them have low health. Does that mean a team consisting of Jun and Zero would be relatively weak due to the small number of hits it takes to kill them?

For example, I’ve been playing Jun Morrignan lately. Both have below average health. Does that mean I’d be better off swapping Morrigan out for someone beefier like Ryu or Tekkaman?

i use Alex/tekkaman two very slow characters but they hit hard and take forever to beat it’s like fighting two tanks

How do you fight Zero/X, rushdown or projectile teams? The most I can do is try to just zone with Tekkaman and block patiently with Alex.

I also really like Frank/Alex just because Alex is a Hardcore Wrestler like Mick foley while Alex is a SMASH MOUTH HOSS like Sycho Sid.

Hmm I do Like the Alex/Casshern team because of that whole Cash Assist into Level 3 HYPA BOMB

I’d like to throw my hat in the ring here, but please keep in mind I have minimal experience with high level offline competition. I also never played CGoH. As such, take whatever I say with a grain of salt and please call me out on any BS I possibly say. I’d sooner be corrected than be ignorant.

On the subject of teams, if you put two good characters together they’ll probably make a solid team. It just may not be the ideal pairing because they don’t really work with each other that well for whatever reason. That Jun/Zero example for instance would probably have issues ,especially with heavy hitters because low health is now a problem with the whole team rather than just half of it. There would be much less margin for error at least.

I haven’t had a chance to try this team in anything big yet, but I think there is some potential in Soki/Blade. They seem to compliment each other pretty well. They can get big damage without much effort, their hyper combinations work especially well with each other, Soki can Issen people into Blade’s assist (which might lead to Soki’s loop) and his own assist can cover Blade’s recovery on blocked moves. Also, since Soki doesn’t really need meter to do good damage he can make a really good point man/battery for Blade. I’m sure there is a weakness that I haven’t run into yet though, there has to be. Any thoughts guys?

I’m honestly surprised Soki is often ranked so low on lists. He seems to have some really good stuff going for him. He’s obviously not one of the best, but I can’t see him being as low as some people put him. He seems a lot like Tekkaman in that on his own he’s average but he can make a good team asset.

At mid range Alex can punish a projectile move with j. C, Two boots, or my favorite, Stun Gun Headbutt. Just jumping in on any any character as Alex will spook most characters, especially when Alex’s has 3 bars. For rushdown characters, Adv. Guard is your friend.

He can’t mixup/overhead to save his life. I can imagine I’m using him wrong, but both Soki and Casshan have trouble getting that one hit in before they can start dishing out damage.

yeah zero die incredibly fast, 2 combos really from Alex once you get in on him it’s over. with tekkaman i sometimes get aggressive with i don’t see as to much of a problem though, a good mix of defense and offense really messes with people.

Ok so I wrote a tier list. I’ve played in many local tournaments and won (though I can’t brag because most people that I play against are either Melee/Brawl players or Blazblue/Sf4 players who just play this on the side). Also taken from tournament footage from youtube and my own personal feelings on certain characters. I’m sure I’ll get flamed and people will disagree and call me a noob but whatever, until EVO I see no concrete tier list. Also I’d like to point out that these tiers aren’t as strict as lets say BlazBlue: CT. A lower tier is a lot closer to high tier in TvC because the game is so balanced, so I’m not saying blank is crap and blank means auto win. Enjoy

God
*None/*Yami

  • The only really God Tier would be Yami, but it isnt a playable character

High
Zero, Alex, Blade

  • Zero gets my vote for best, so many options and play styles to use, using your burst to extend combos is just mean, almost no bad matchups
  • Alex is a tank, insane damage, viable lvl 3 ultra, great hp, once in hes trouble
  • Blade, wasnt sure to be high tier or mid-upper, I guess Ill go high tier for the sheer variety of moves he possess, also has insane high level combos, does not possess the power of Alex or the options that Zero has

Mid-Upper
Ryu, Jun, Saki, Tekkaman, Yatterman-2, Morrigan, Doronjo

  • Ryu is insane, great combos, insanely easy super to pull off, good damage, can play range or close up, hard to not place him in High Tier but I feel he cant compete with those 3
  • Jun is a beast, you could argue her into High tier, very good combos, long block strings to bait a counter
  • Saki is great, especially as a partner, mostly as an in air switch to extend/finish off an opponent, obviously a great keep away character, can turn many air combos into one combo kills
  • Tekkanman is the non-Giant tank, great as an assist, has options, does insane damage, has a great DHC
  • Yatterman-2 is a good partner for just about anyone, she does great damage and the robot super is always helpful, can take care of turtle players easily
  • Morrigan moved on up since CGoH, she does great damage, has good specials, all around a good battery
  • Doronjo was a hard one to place, some people say shes terrible, some say high tier, I would say she rounds out mid-upper, can be very using against rush down players as well turtle players, doesnt possess the sheer power and options of the characters before her

Mid-Lower
Souki, Polimar, Yatterman-1, Roll, PTX, Frank, Volnutt, Ken

  • Souki is my favorite character in the game, it was hard to place him so low, I feel he is an absolute beast with high health, the best poke in the game, great combos that do good damage and do not require any BBQ, can zone almost anyone, his downfalls are lacking a good overhead and doesnt have the best anti air defense
  • Polimar was another hard to place, he does insane damage, has a great assist, but his mobility and range game is lacking, I know with wave dashing he can get in very fast for a high damage combo but still lacks any range game what so ever, but he is a great partner and high damage
  • Yatterman-1 is the definition of battery, so so so fast, sometimes I wonder if he couldnt be any higher, I feel he has a lot of safe moves, great speed, only real downfall is lack of power, also his supers leave a lot to be desired
  • Roll is my second favorite in the game, she has the smallest hit box, fastest jab, and can heal herself and any mechish partner, waterbucket is a great money in the bank move, I would have her much much higher but the low health and lack of range hurts her, also she really can hang with a lot of the cast damage wise
  • PTX is the best giant, we all know this, also he can be a viable high level character, super armor is his friend and BBQ all you want because you dont have a partner to help you out, not as good as his CGoH counterpart but still a viable threat
  • Frank is another hard to place, I feel he just doesnt have a variety of options, I know he can send shopping carts and summon zombies from anywhere but he can also be zoned very easily, I could be wrong about Frank
  • Volnutt is a great character and has great combos and can do good damage, second smallest hit box and can play a mean range game, I just dont feel he is as good as everyone ahead of him, he has a great air game but seems to be easily overpowered by other members of the cast, like Frank I could be wrong
  • Ken fell pretty hard from CGoH, from being easily God Tier to this, he is definitely still a viable character and can spit out damage and teleport around for good mind games but just doesnt cut it combo and damage wise

Low
Chun-Li, Ippatsuman, Joe, Batsu, Casshern, Karas, Gold Lightan, VJ

  • Another CGoH powerhouse to be this low, she gets zoned too easily and combos do not seem to do as much as they did in CGoH, just not as good
  • Ippatsuman is someone a lot of people might disagree with me on but he really doesnt have much going for him, compared to the rest of the cast his options do not seem as viable, maybe a more defensive player might disagree but from everything Ive seen he can be wrecked easily
  • Joe was hard to place this low, because when the game came out I had him at mid-upper, he doesnt seem to have as many options as I thought, his range isnt anything to write home about even with the gun, can still do good damage but I feel doesnt cut it anymore
  • Batsu is good, just not good enough, I mean he has a great air combo, outside of that he doesnt really have much going for him, bad recovery time on projectile, his supers arent anything great, has an ok ultra depending on partner
  • Casshern was my main in CGoH but he just doesnt seem right anymore, his combos are still there but I feel he cant compete anymore, can get zoned easily by ranged characters, has a great super and can wreck giants but outside of that gets eaten up by the rest of the cast
  • Karas was the biggest CGoH to UAS fall, he almost isnt even a viable character anymore, can easily get one combo killed and without infinites and links that he possessed before, you can just turtle and countdown his doom
  • Lightan is Lightan, what else is there to say, Im sure someone out there can whoop my ass with him but really, he is the worst character as far as zoning goes, some of the cast can run and laugh at you, grabs can be teched out of, and he gets eaten up alive by the entire hire tier
  • VJ gets my vote for worst character in the game, the guy is just awful and Ive honestly yet to see him perform against the best of the cast, he cant really do much and seems like a bad Roll

Dan
None

  • Nobody is Dan Tier

That just looks so wrong.

Besides, you really cant make a tier list without going into matchups.
