TVC UAS Tier list speculation thread

I have been playing for awhile and I think Morrigan will be somewhere in A or B tier possibly. You can dash fast with her by dash holding up which allows some options. She is stronger now and can do more combo options. Saki will probably be up there but just like Cable if a fast character gets in you will have to run away to gain the upper hand. I cant really say what tiers will be who since it is kind of early. A lot of characters are good in this game. I have been using Casshan, Jun, Morrigan, Saki, Tekkaman and Yatterman-2.

How I see the tier-list now:
*changing my opinion in less then a week is just testament to the fact that tiering this game now is WAY too soon, but this is a speculation thread after all, so I’m not saying “this is how it is”, I’m saying “this is how it seems, please prove me wrong so I can change it again next week.”

S/Top-tier:
Zero
Y-1

A/High-tier:
Jun
Ken
Saki
Chun-Li
Y-2

B/Upper mid-tier:
Ippatsuman
Ryu
T. Blade

Karas*

C/Lower mid-tier:
Casshern
Morrigan*
Tekkaman
Roll*
PTX
Polymar
Souki
Frank

D/Low-tier:
Gold Lightan

*are characters I’m just sort of spit-balling on tier placement.

Any chance someone could give a brief explanantion as to why each character is placed where they are? What makes them good/what they abuse etc etc.

Zach, why do you feel that Ken is above Ippatsuman or Polimar?

Ken has more mobility in his moveset and jumps much higher then both Ippatsuman and Polimar. Ken’s supers are also more combo friendly and do lots more damage. If Polimar’s range wasn’t so bad, he’d be higher on the tier list.

Ken the Eagle
Joe the Condor

Gold Lightan

Opinionated Tier list.
This is how i feel on some characters made really short.

Tekkaman blade can MAKE REEEAAAAALY GOOD COMBOS if he has the right assist and doesnt even need his level 3. His level 2 is stupid though.
Ryu is way to solid. Nothing is wrong with him at all. He pounds away at your health.
Saki can be dealt with. Shes all about being far away but if some1 can handle that or do just as good thats pretty bad for her I think.
Yatterman #1s supers are hard to hit and really optional. I would just stick to shorter combos and be smart till u can do a level 3 or a hyper variable combination with some1 that has a good level 1 super. He also has a bad health bar which means you shouldnt get touched or its over. Zero has a better chance of come back.
Mega Man is reaaaaly solid. Hes like a slightly worse version of saki at camping reaallly slightly and a more worse version of ryu put together. Mega Man can deal with any character if used right to me. I love him <3 I think hes really middle because i dont see any bad matchup with mega man other than Polimar mabi. Probably Tekkaman Blade.
Batsu is like a really bad Ryu to me. So slow and his combos are ugh to me. I think you should keep it plain and short with his level1.
Frank West seems to be a bit = to batsu. He needs good partner. With a good partner his perfectly fine.
I really love Roll but if u think about it. Rolls all about 1 combo and nothing else. Other than that 1 OTG combo its kinda dumb to do anything else other than a level 3 super combo. Roll needs partners. She is extreamly fast and with a partner like casshan she can work u really hard.

Why people think Jun is the best of the three Science Ninjas? somebody can explain me please? I know she is good but she is THAT good?

She’s smallest, faster, has good hitboxes on her attack, and has crazy good combo potential inside and outside of meter.

more than that, its mixup potential and Ken and Joe don’t really stack up in that area

also that other list by oOTjayOo is lulz, how are you gonna rate Yatter 1 low because of his supers? Never mind that he gets 50/50 after every air combo and has great keepaway -_-

and the statements about Batsu… just wrong, you can’t approach him like you would play Ryu. In most instances, if Batsu touches you, you’re getting carried to the corner for 20k minimum, with no meter.
ryusei kick travels across the whole screen, giving him an easy way to get in, and if it hits, he can dash cancel it or use the bounce back to annoy you from afar. On block he can bbq. He’s not what I call a low tier character by any means.

I still think that we lack enough results to accurately have a tier list, but this is how I see it at the moment.

A tier:
Zero
Jun
Alex
Chun
Doronjo
Ryu
Morrigan

B tier:
Yatter-1
Yatter-2
Batsu
Saki
Tekkaman Blade

B- and below:
Everyone else

I am basing this on what I’ve seen from the events that I’ve travelled to and the communities that I’ve befriended. I no longer buy into there being an S-tier as the only zero player that fully exhibits its existence is Marn which is a fringe case due to his DP-Stature.

As far as i’m concerned, there is an S-tier, and Zero and Tekkaman Blade are both in it. I really have no clue how you’re putting Blade in B-tier. He’s got range, speed, power, massive combo ability, and Crash Intrude is pretty much unstoppable.

Also, Alex in high A tier? I’m begging you to explain that one to me. I know Alex is good, but he’s not THAT good…

Blade is a gimmick. Yes, he is strong, but he lacks actual mixups and is very linear. He is good online but that is laughable and not a valid holding point. The tourney results support this and until I truly see otherwise I can’t put him in the same group as the other chars that I listed.

As for zero being s-tier, I don’t buy it. Marn’s zero is s-tier, not the actual char. Jun is far more scary as she has equally good pokes, a high/low game, equal speed, and more health. Oh…and she hits harder.

Zero is great, but he has his flaws…and they are numerous. The community at large just can’t see through the smoke yet.

Watched the Final Round stream and saw Chuns and Juns all over the place. Yatterman-1 was also popular. Batsu and Blade got scraped. Ryu, Zero, and Alex got some good screen time. MVP goes to Doronjo, that was unique and fun to watch. Didn’t really understand the Gold Lightan match.

Hope to see more major TvC events soon.

Just noticed that I did not address Alex. He is the strongest char, has incredible ground speed, has a high/low game, has a ton of life, has an assist that causes massive block stun, has anti air grabs, can reset his air combos with grabs, and does 30kb without supers, assists, or bbq. That seems like an a-tier stat list to me.

Oh…and he has game against the giants. And 20% bbq = 45kb damage off of a 9 hit combo.

Since this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this sentiment I have to ask: what does “S-tier” mean, then? I’ve always thought of it as “top-tier”, i.e. the character(s) at the literal top of the list. Every list has a top and bottom - that’s the inherent, unavoidable dichotomy of a list. So, at least when I say S-tier, I mean that those characters are at the literal top, and there’s some degree of separation, some thin gray line, that creates the other notches.

Another thing. Most of your list makes sense to me, but I can’t see how Y-1 isn’t near the top. He has range, speed, priority, damage, mix-up, mobility/air-control, and his reset game is one of the best in the game, if not the best… I just don’t see how he’s ranked below linear (albeit good) characters like Ryu, unless your calculating Y-1’s usefulness as a partner. Even then he has one of the best VC’s (after Karas/Ryu/Morrigan/Zero, or “DP-tier” VC’s), and his DHC potential is great in the corner. His only drawback as an assist character is his assist itself, and even then certain characters can extend ground chains with it (Chun makes great use of it w/ 2A, 2B, 5C, xx 41236C, call Y-1, dash, 2B, 5C…).

I’m really interested in your opinion on this, because you actually have experience against the best players we have. Myself, I won’t get any games in against known players until MWC come 'round.

I view s-tier as being without equal. The degree of separation between the character that I listed is too low to separate them into another tier set imo.

Yatter-1’s assist plays heavily into my ranking him. If it were better I’d put him in the top rung.

I’ll agree with that for the most part. I do think both Zero and Blade can be total beasts but I don’t know how much of that is just because they are new. Zero seems to have the Akuma affect. He can dish it out but he can’t take it. Blade seems to just throw off people who crouch-block all day. Everything about him is about screwing you up if you’re defensive. I’m more afraid of him than zero.

blade has a mini AHVB… he can punish wiff’s from screen. I’d fear a good TMB over a good zero.

Cray Int is not AHVB. It is a good punish at 1/4 screen or less, but so is a lot of other supers. Outside of thay range you can bbq to stay safe or call an assist to have them shield you. It is good though.

I would think that rather than makeing a single tier list, we should make more a a team tier list. This game is two players per team right? Any way, the best teams in the game as I see it so far and I an not basing this off anything besides the actuall way the game works.

I will rank the top 5 teams as I see them.

T-Blade/Tekkaman
Ryu/Tekkaman
Chun/Batsu
Casshern/Alex
Batsu/Alex

Now, as you can tell zero is not in there and most teams have the high health players in them. Certin things that are really profound in MvC2 just have not made it to this game yet. We have no americas favorite DHC to take care of the 40K and below players. No teams use safe DHC’s or even effective tag methods yet. All I am really saying is with things like Baroque and offensive megacrash, or megacrash in general, it is hard to make a single tier list. Someone like Zero can not use Baroque at all, but he really does not need it to stay mobile or make things safe, more of just to make him hit harder, but he also needs that red bar health because he only has 40k.

I just got bored and wanted to shake things up. No real meaning behing any of this as I know I will have to prove any of this as fact. I will be on the mission to prove this to be fact at GAMME or EVO or some other major I might actually get to go to.

Best teams in the game

Tekkamen
Team Wipe me down

Below them is going to be a Batsu/Tekkaman or a Ryu/Tekkaman. Again I am just talking shit so do not listen to me.
