LMAO the finals between Justin and Marn was funny…it told me that Marn wasn’t as good as he hyped himself up to be lmao. And no, not because he was losing to J.Wong …I know most of us will…just the fact that his Karas play was comparable to how I was using him a few weeks ago before I started using certain “other” mixups that I won’t bother mentioning here hehe. Also I saw no infinite, he had a few chances but he went for the easier Mega Crash combo instead on Chun Li. I mean I would do that too if I wasn’t confident in my timing for the infinite but dam… I hope I do well at Winter Brawl in light of all this though.
Also he Baroqued his j.C for no reason at one point and lost like 50% of his red life which was really stupid but I’m certain it was a tech mistake…

because he’s not really that good. he has no overhead to my knowledge,and has shit ass range, and is easily punishable on push block. i can see him at higher levels of play just kinda not being that top tier. just hold down back all day, he cant do shit, and his bird stance throw is easily techable. his grab super is good, but you can only do it in the air, his level 3 needs 3 birds stances also, and his car super is just plain retarded and practically useless without a partner, unless your opponent just doesnt want to jump.
the worst part, is i can agree with ken in that position from watching early vids of demon hyo, and playing the computer randomly. i think his shenanigans are going to be a problem. i dont think to many people will disagree with doronjo, and i cant say much on yattermanlookslikeagirl.
im assuming because theyre console only, and this is a arcade tier list. as you can see, saki, joe, and ippatsuman are also not in this list. unfortunately it was not because they realized how stupid giants are. my hate continues :lovin:
marn was still in the grand finals. i want to see who he had to face to get there, because im pretty sure top 8 were solid tvc competition from the east coast. even in my interview with him, he kinda admitted he was just talking mad shit because he considered most people he was clownin to be scrubs, not because he had god like tricks, which he might have had at the beginning, but that obviously went out the window as we found more stuff.

im pretty sure it was an execution error. he probably tried to call in his assist to finish the air raid and kill wong, and get karas out so he can heal, and marn can bring him back in later. thats the most logical route of that situation, and im pretty sure thats what he was aiming for. i do that shit by accident too.
Polymar forward+C is an overhead, and down+C is a low. Both have range and can combo into dp+C, C, qcb+C (for 8k damage) and super cancelled into airgrab vs some characters for another 10k. His assist is also one of the best, and Variable Air Raids with him are probably the best too.
Thats why these lists are starting to label themselves with “S, A+, A, B” instead of “S, A, B, C, D”. The tiers are pretty close together, and every characters, right now, can compete. I wouldnt sleep on any of them.
Giants aren’t console only, they’re in the arcades. I think it’s a bad decision to ban them, but it’s probably just because they figure some unfair shit will arise? The giants are weird in that they can either be really good or really bad depending on a few things. I think they’re banning them pre-emptively more than anything else.
Also yeah, sinsation looked pretty sweet. Jwong shows us all how to beat a karas, AKA block his shit and jump lol. Seriously though, good shit to both of those guys, good matches.
But yeah, polymar. He doesn’t have very good approaches, and he also has no range. So while I might put him a little higher because of big damage, I think he’s probably not great. Definitely not as good as some people have been saying.
I’m surprised Yatterman is so high on jp’s tier list for damashi or whatever the crap that is.
Honest real talk. Good shit to Marn for making it to Grand Finals, and even with the trash talk he backed his shit up. Jwong was just a more solid player. I saw that with his Jun, and I don’t think too much of that character but meh. Jun against Karas was a surprise in itself.

As far as Polymar goes, he’s hard to play. He tends to drop combos a lot due to his poor range, he’s easy to pushblock and punish also because of his poor range, he doesn’t have good approaches.
Some characters in this game like Ryu have strings where if the first hit connects from any distance the later hits will almost always connect, with Polymar it can be tricky.
Like I said before, Jun beating Karas is just a show of how fucking solid Wong is. Nothing fancy, you just can’t hit justin.
But yeah I THINK when marn baroqued into j.C he was trying to kill justin. Why he didn’t baroque into uppercut, I don’t know, but I guess he was under pressure.
Polymar is no way that low though. Yeah he lacks an approach but he seriously does have good mix ups when he’s in. And yeah Tekkaman / Batsu are too low IMO. Batsu is just as good as Ryu if not for the assist.
But yeah Ken has some beast mixups. My friend can stop “hiding his shit” and post up a vid now that sinsation is said and done, so you guys can see the Ken craziness and my Karas.
Oh also on Ken, kinda crazy but his 2A is one of the best anti airs ever. Karas CANNOT beat it jumping in. You just can’t jump at Ken with him.

i wonder if they took assist into ranking here, because i dont think you should use a characters assist as to whether they are good or not. i think it deals more with what can this character do by themselves. i know its a tag game, and assist is a major part of game play at times, but in my personal opinion, it would make more sense to be like, this is what this character can do, and, oh yeah, his assist is good. assist means shit if the character still sucks. it plays a role in the rankings probably, but i would think minute.

well, in all fairness, i think when those claims were coming out, and people were making him out to be a super god, for the level of play as the game was at then, i think people thought he was unstoppable. i mean, he had an infinite early on, serious combos off megacrash, he had the ability to assist/combo into his chain switch side throw, and infinite off that, block string infinite, and a pretty serious offense, which is still serious. that was a pretty big deal at the time, and still is, but at the time, if i was doing that shit, i would have considered him unstoppable, especially if no one i was playing was stopping it.
yeah, if you stay stagnant against him, and especially in the corner, you can eat some stuff. i will try to test this later, but i want to see if you can get between like, a, f.c, or anything into his overhead, because if so, then bleh, he aint got shit. i cant tell from training mode. right now its looking like you can easily get between it, and the fastest transition is, a into f.c. i’ll try it out later on my roommate. his rolling shit is slow and dumb. when you first play polymar, he seems fancy, and filled with mind games, but for me that went away pretty quick.
actually now that i think of it, the only person to really adapt to marn early on in casuals a few weeks ago, was justin wong, and look at the results. hmmm. im curious on where steve h, demon hyo, perfect sin, and other people placed. i bet top 8 is well known players. someone put wong in losers too. i wonder who
yeah, but in mvc2, you could block and call out your assist, and in this game you cant at all. so if your sitting there getting pressured down, especially against someone like karas, you cant call out your assist to help you like in mvc2. sometimes its not worth the risk to just randomly call out your assist to help you between getting pressured. depends on the situation

not to mention you also had two partners to spam all day, and not just one. plus the reup time for your partner in mvc2 was a lot shorter than in tvc
Yeah, I guess the corner loop must have seemed like a big deal at the time too; megacrash -> baroque -> megacrash -> baroque, in a combo that killed and built heavy meter for you (not your opponent)… if I saw that in person, might have looked like a game-killer at the time to me too.
Either way… it’s been revealed now; Marn was intentionally over-hyping to screw around with the people here, who he apparently thinks are dipshit scrubs. Let’s get back to business and try to stay optimistic about the game.

I suggest you ignore the infractions, they tend to bring about unnecessary anger depending on the situation. A lot of people are stupid on these boards and give you infractions for stupid shit so I can understand… getting an infraction for saying tripping in Brawl sucks for example…but yah that’s besides the point.
