im telling u it can be escaped…and if u wanna know wat every one is hiding…it the fact that u can’t swing coming in when a character dies and all he has to do is toward C unblockable into baroque into infinite. Im assuming thats wat he is talking about.
It means you play karas and i’ll keep beating you with Chun :bgrin:. Has anyone noticed what i like to call “reverse crossups” where you go for a crossup but you hit with the back of a ground based move so that it attacks as if you didn’t crossup. Hard to read and hard to block as the next attack will attack the correct direction and must be blocked the other way.
S Tier
- Chun-Li (She’s the magneto of this game thanks to reverse crossup situations and air lightning legs)
- Karas (Just BS on everything he has, but dies like a little bitch to any baroque combo and often has to burn all his meter on burst unless he gets an oppurtunity to kill the opponent with a super)
- Ryu (Best secondary character in game thanks to amazing assist and being a strong point)
A. Tier
4. Viewtiful Joe. (j. C is gay and if infinite is gay, but crappy range hurts him against karas/chun/and ryu.)
4. Polymar (retarded good assist and strong point though a weaker point than ryu cuz his dmg is more meter dependant for roughtly similiar dmg though he can do more air to air than anyone in the game thanks to air reset super)
5. Ken the Eagle (really a sleeper imo lots of assist crossup setups great jabs and brain dead infinite, and one of the most dmging lvl. 3’s in the game Ken/Karas and Ken/Ryu are very strong teams)
6. Doronjo (Very strong with tekkaman/ryu and team super with ryu leads to huge mixup potential and good dmg. Ifinites and mixup she’s good)
7. Megaman (great runaway/keepaway and good infinite, might become lower as his dmg isn’t all that high but probably the safest character in the game, really only karas can punish his backwards wavedash shenanigans)
B. Tier
8. Casshern (hurts and dogs are gay)
9. Tekkaman (he hurts for no meter and j. C once active is very scary)
10. Ippatsuman (air grab resets ftw)
11. Jun (really good, but strings into specials can be interrupted easily, dmg is not amazing and her ability to rushdown except with jab, jab assist hit jab, jab seems pretty weak has to fairy around more and seems to have problems controlling the match but her assist is very good for extending combo’s)
11. Saki (Unblockables godly but you have to choose between guaranteed unblockable setups and burst which makes playing her as point risky as she has little answers to rush down)

Edit: If your getting punished by karas ever think should try and do attacks he can’t punish on reaction to hurt him or cover yourself properly with an assist so he can’t get more than a single hit in on you? You aren’t going to beat him on the ground just attack him differently. Unblockabling a character into infinite is the only shit he has that’s really scary and he can’t even do that on every character. He has amazing tools but human component makes him beatable, otherwise magneto would win marvel off a single touch everytime and never get anti-aired and get the dead body infinite off the snapback everytime. That doesn’t happen 100% of the time for a reason. Also i haven’t checked but can you super armor his unblockable?
yatterman is good… he can beat out Chun’s iad with jab go into combo and reset.
if he doesn’t have the best resets in the game i would be surprised.
his air DP A is an extremely safe approach at anything but point blank and its still decent there.
I really expect him to be one of the tops.
Roll when paired with Yatterman or casshern is good.
morrigan is good, instant combo able overheads doesn’t use much meter except when doing her kill move.
about your reverse crossup…Karas’s 5C, 5B…beats it all day…all I gotta see is you leave the ground and you eat it.
Most characters can beat out iad B’s and C’s with jumping jab. One should be careful when abusing them.
If you were grounded than you could beat a “reverse crossup” but unfortunately it is done with a < <standing move or crouching move> > often against an airborne opponent or an opponent who has just landed as otherwise your character would be facing the right direction. You CANNOT hit someone who does this properly with any standing move. Only way to do it would be to use a very active large hitbox crossup move as you fall (as this is the only situation i’ve found to set it up) and karas has no such move. Ryu and some others do but if they come down with a C you can punish this to if expected or done on reaction if your smart.
Example. You do 2A>2B>5C>3C>8Lightning Legs>j.B>j.B (no jump canceling) with chun letting you land long before your opponent will be able to land. As you left an opponent air borne from a combo he can’t move around he is forced to fall at a specific spot.
Now lets say we started on the left side of the screen and we are against karas. You can dash underneath him for a mixup (so you are now on the RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN and since karas has no good crossup air attack he cannot counter poke the following mixup as he will still be facing left. But if you do an attack while dashing you will still face right while doing the attack with lets say 2B. You can time this attack so that Karas lands into the the back end of the right facing 2B but he will be facing right upon landing, but so will you. This means that even though you are on his right he must block with the stick towards the right because your chun-li is not facing the correct direction, but when the following st. C comes out Chun will be facing the correct direction and your opponent will have to block with the stick to the left. you can add in assists and other shit and make this a blocking nightmare by doing a hadouken than dashing under than recrossing up. It’s hard to block several situations like this with chun.
Also you can do a j. B to a grounded blocking opponent with her than do Lightning legs and sometimes the Lightning legs will recross up sometimes just for a single just hit. It’s very very gay. When i play people they constantly think they stopped blocking and i have to tell them no, chun just crossed them up than did it again. Hell with Lightning legs you can do a crossup j. B j. Cancel back airdash Lightning legs. Karas has no defense directly above him fast enough to deal with chun.
People assume crossups are jump attacks that isn’t true lol, just generally true.
Karas is gay but far from god tier. Also you can Beat both of Karas anti-airs if your jump attack is active before it reaches karas (at least with ryu and chun) reason 5B,5C beat jump ins is that the move isn’t active before the anti-air hits them. They don’t have much priority if they actually collide with an active hit box.
If karas is beating your jump-ins with attacks than you aren’t jumping at him properly, sorry mindless IAD’ing doesn’t beat everything.
If this is really what their hiding then those dudes are seriously bad at karas. I figured that shit out weeks ago, and have plenty of new shit waiting for a tourney.
Karas doesn’t scared of Lightan anymore, by the way. Rope grab > infinite.

Sephiroth: I know what you’re talking about with those cross ups, and yeah you don’t have to change up your blocking. I accidentally figured that out, but it’s pretty easy to see, just keep blocking the way you were before they crossed you up, then when you land, block normally.
As for your stuff on Karas, you must not be fighting a karas that can infinite you. Ryu’s dead if I touch him with Karas and he doesn’t have burst. For chun, I can still carry her from one end of the screen to the other with an infinite and end it in the 3 slashes follow up for the dash attack. Haven’t seen anyone do that yet, but it does great damage, and you can baroque it and continue back across the screen to the other side if you want, which depending on the life, usually will kill or almost kill them. Also chun is pretty easy to zone. With karas. I mean yeah she can block all day if she wants to but she’s gonna have to move or press a button eventually.
As for baiting 2B from Karas and IADing over it, that doesn’t work. I bait people into trying that. The great thing about this game is that you can whiff cancel, so he has the option of either uppercutting, sword spinning, or counter supering when they get smart and try to punish the whiff.
man, yall gotta just get yall karas’s on vids. i believe you, but all this hype is bananas. its so much hype, im starting to just think its being over hyped, and something is missing.
I mean it’s not really over hype, same thing applies that always had before that keeps him balanced. If he gets hit and he can’t burst, he’ll die. At the tournament yesterday I had a guy down to his last characer (souki) with karas at full health. Soki did a very easy baroque combo with 40% life and I died. Luckily I still had my other character but my mouth dropped.
You just gotta make that shit count when you hit him. Staying in the air also helps since he can’t do much to you while you’re up there. You can also hyper jump out of a lot of his ground pressure, so that keeps him from going into block string infinites if the karas doesn’t do it right off the bat from like a 2B or something. Just have to avoid face to face confrontations in a neutral situation vs him.

Only true if you don’t leave blockstun. You let them leave blockstun by late canceling a normal. you can switch it up just slow that shit down.
He can’t really jump over it that easily, but he can block it. And if he has meter, he can usually jump on reaction and do stomp super. But you definitely have to watch out if that infinite works, since that would mean one fuck up is dead Lightan.
I might have to mess around with that then, sounds pretty good. Wonder if it works off any of the assists that knock them up like Batsu / Polymar / Chun Li etc etc?
Also on the Lightan infinite thing, it confuses me because he stays in hittable state where he actually takes hit stun during the infinite, but the combo counter doesn’t go up. But, if it didn’t combo, I know Lightan would go back to super armor mode, so I’m not sure what’s going on.
And yeah i didn’t think about it, but he can air stomp super vs chain. That really saves him vs most characters that give him a hard time.

well u can start infinite on any side…if ur on the wrong side of the screen u can make the character go to side u need them to be on…any thing else u hiding?
