lol I learned EWGF way before I could even understand wavedashing.
wave dash is important for oki situations and more in likely if you opponent doesnt understand the game well they will try to stuff your movement with something unsafe which the mishimas excel in…punishing.
even a novice can and will learn quickly to respect the wave dash in a few matches.
also light dash/wavedashing correctly will enable to decrease the amount of time you have to wait in order to block.
plus moves such as ff3 are increased in range when you wavedash into them.
and kaz being predominately unsafe as he is NEEDS EWGF the few safe moves he has can be stepped.
yes its safe and fast but remember that the hitbox has been improved and the fact is that it is very hard to sidestep it in this game.
LOL @ magnus. That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Tell Koreans and the Japanese that and they will tell you that you are an idiot because people who play hworang, Baek, Bob, AK, Mishima’s all wave dash because it applies pressure to your opponent. If you just sat there just doing standing electrics. You’re ass would get ate up all day.
I actually live in Korea for 2 years and traveled to Japan to play the Japanese. They all say that if you want to learn mishimas or the game of tekken you need to master the WD.
its because you arent as safe during a dash as you are during a wavedash and you dont have the options available you do during a wd sequence
hellsweeps, more safe blocking while moving, instant ws moves, ewgf, extended ff moves, crush moves.
the amount of reps you have to do it at a single point is overstated but its important nonetheless.
a great kazuya doesnt push alot of buttons, but uses his movement alone , coupled with the wave/lightdash to present the illusion of being hit from multiple angles all at once. he can make you play his game better then alot of other characters.
now being real i aint just gonna let somebody wd in my face all day so ill try and stuff your momentum with a mid. But rule of thumb is the safe mids can be stepped, and the ones that cover more options are unsafe which leads back to the mishimas making you pay… severely
its augmented oki!
all for the low low price of picking the character at the select screen
and hard work and all that jazz
Watch some of the youtube videos like I said of Koreans and Japanese players playing with Mishimas. Heck a lot of players are scared to attack because they are scared of getting launched with an electric.
Youtube: Tag 2 Light. He plays DJ/Hei.
Yes you are correct but the reason why a lot of top players and people don’t side step is because you need perfect timing to side step the electric and you can only side step it to the left. If you side step right you will always get hit 99.9% of the time.
Once again you need to side step the electric perfectly. One side early? You get launched. Side step late? You get launched. Side step right? You get launched.
Now you can see why players try not to side step when a mishima is wave dashing in your face. From what I was told, the best thing to do is try to db+1 when they are wave dashing, but you can’t do this all the time because you can get launched with a high like DJ u+4, Jin’s u+4, Hei uf+3,4.
^agreed
in tekken 6 the electrics were able to be side stepped with more ease
and i also forgot simple hopkicks from the mishimas
if im facing a mishima ill try to do a quick mid just to reset the situation but that doesnt always work as they can preemptively stop it and whiff punish
its all educated guess work and reading the patterns, guessing right can net the opposing character some damage IF they guess the wd mixups correctly.
Agreed. Even though I play DJ/Hei myself, I hate playing against other mishimas that WD in my face especially KAZ because my first reaction is always try to electric them out of the WD and 80% of the time I always seems to get lit up first =(.
How does this make any sense?
You can do anything from a dash that you can from a WD, what part of that do you guys not get? Not only that you can actually move while not WD’ing, side stepping back dash cancelling all of which you can instantly cancel into…anything. I feel like you guys are watching Koreans WD’ing a lot but not getting while they do it. It’s the fear of, ok is he going to HS/EWGF/iWS all of which you can do anytime outside of WD. It has it’s use I’ll give you that, but if you want to be a good Mishima player I would rank it last on the list of things to learn.
Yeah you are correct but I can bet you money its a lot more safer to do HS during a WD rather then throwing it out there. Why? Because you answered our question you have the guessing game of doing HS/EWGF/iWS. Boom try just ducking in front of an opponent and see if he will duck. If you just ran up to me with DJ and just ducked I would be like wtf is he/she doing?
Look this game is hard enough to learn without mis information. Instant while standing from a WD is a JUST FRAME, outside of WS4. You can instant while standing from ff by doing all kinds of methods, for instance a qcb 2 gives you a instant while standing 2 for DJ.
EDIT: Dashkid, that is just a complete guess and there is no logical reason to that. If you can explain to me why WD is superior to the safer alternative I would move from my opinion.
If your in norcal i would be happy to play you, I am terrible at this game and thought what you guys did about WD’ing initially as well. After talking to a lot of seasoned players who felt differently I have come to see why they feel this way.
you cannot do iws moves from regular dashes which are important for launch
you are mostly unsafe while dashing.
of course you dont just mindlessly do wd
that goes without saying.
ask yourself if someones backdashing
what am i doing to close the distance, what is the safer method
doing a dash into a ff move is more more risky then wavedashing into it
also thank you for stating what i just said in my last post that fear/respect is what a kaz needs especially since hes unsafe
I’m heavily considering picking this game up for my PS3, but I just thought I’d ask any PS3 users out there, how does the online in this game compare to other fighting games in terms of connectivity/lag such as Blazblue, Persona, AE, or (dare I say it) MK9 or KOFXIII? I figure it can’t hurt to ask since I’m in a small town and a good chunk of my fighting game experience these days stems from online play.
