Transformers TV/Movie Thread - WAR FOR CYBERTRON: EARTHRISE (A Netflix Original) Streaming Dec 30!

ROTF is not good, but The Last Knight is the worst Bay film by a wide margin. There are at least moments in ROTF that are worth watching (i.e. the Forest Battle) and the music was at least decent overall. TLK is the only movie I regret purchasing because of being a completist.

Speaking of music, the movie score is actually quite decent until movie 3. Lockdown’s theme was the only part of the score I really remember. The track “We Have to Go” in TLK was solid, but that’s about it. Someone did a video essay about the score and how the music was used.

Honestly, Bumblebee’s score is extremely generic. If there was one thing to bring back from the Bay films, it is Steve Jablonsky.

Lol @ Herbie jokes. Def not herbie… there is some weird sexual tension running throughout bumblebee lol

Bayverse is officially dead. . . . .

Thank fuck. Never should have gone as far as it did.

TLK was the one that broke it for me. It felt like Bay honestly didn’t care. He should have been gone after the 3rd one honestly. There were things about each of the other movies that I did enjoy. TLK has 0 redeeming qualities.

I was offended by how had the first one is I never bothered seeing the other 80 that were made. Id just see commercials or hear people talk about them and be like “why?”

Hell yes! Saw Bumblebee twice, almost a 3rd time but got side-tracked.

This definitely needs to be part of a reboot. Don’t jump to an Optimus Prime movie right off the bat. Maybe do a Bluestreak or Sideswipe flick or something next. Then do Prime to finish off the trilogy.

Edit: Dare i say it, a Megatron origins movie? A Prequel to Bumblebee, showing how the war started?

If they do anything pre-Earth, it’ll be 100% CG. Not an issue, but it won’t have the same box office draw as the other movies. I really don’t think they should do any other side stories, unless this is part of a grand setup. A Megatron origin story may be one of the most interesting ways to push the lore forward.

You could even use the skeleton of the story he has as a solid base for establishing his bad assery. Megatron is the start of the resistance from the Quintessons after being forced into gladitorial combat for years. Megatron succeeds removing the masters but has bigger plans. Bring “Orion” in as an antagonist from viewpoint but are working together for the common good. By the end, Megs wants all the power, Pax steps up to him, but gets slaughtered. The next movie chronicles Prime’s rise to leading the Autobot resistance and a force to be reckoned with.

He never cared. He’s admitted as much in interviews.

Two was worse.

So much worse.

It was like… well, you know plot, as a concept?

Bay tosses it out the window

Two was a bunch of set pieces smashed to bits and then scrambled worse in post-shoot, with heaping tons of racism spliced in for sheer fuckery.

Yeah. The twins were fucked up.

Also wasn’t Devastor featured in one of the films and his weakness was his balls?

Fucking dumb.

Same shite movie.

I remember because it was like Bay cloned himself, and ate his clone’s heart to manage to produce something THAT godawful.

And I say “godawful” as an Agnostic.

Because sometimes, sometimes there is something just SO BAD, that it makes one doubt the possibility for it to exist without some other, higher power, completely fuckin’ up.

The first and 3rd bayformers flicks were worth it. The first movie was a good, G1’ish introduction with the best story, and Dark of the Moon had the best action by far+Leonard Nimoy’s return.

Should have stopped after that though. Then the only bad one would have been ROTF, and 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. Although age of extinction was ‘okay’, it wasn’t really necessary and just added to franchise fatigue. And that goes double for Last Knight.

Albeit flawed, I liked AOE more as a jumping off point than the movie itself. Then TLK happened. . . . . .

I will say that the “Knight” Prime look may be one of the best robot designs. It however makes a terrible Transformer by franchise conventions.

Bumblebee was released today on Blu-Ray today. The ILM art team posted a slideshow of concept art.

I appreciate them referring to the source material for design inspiration.

Yeah. Bumblebee was great. It was a 2 hour apology to the fans for Bayformers.

Plus Hailee Steinfeld is a cutie.
I loved her in the edge of seventeen.

I had no idea she was in the remake of true grit until recently. Which happened to be her first acting role which given how good she was in it is fucking astonishing.

Bee is the 07 movie that should have happened. I found it to be a big juvenile at times, but easily the best TF movie made.

I don’t necessarily want a “sequel” if we still gotta deal with this mute B.S.

Yea… That’s a Bayism ain’t it? Why is it here?

I think that the production team had to make it connect in the event the movie flopped and they were going to just make it a prequel. This is the reason why Megatron isnt seen. However, since it’s considered another offshoot, then it may get fixed in the next film.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is clueless with what this movie is supposed to be. Any press statements by him are more than likely his alone. Hasbro (Allspark Productions) has more creative control on the movie side of the franchise now as I believe they made a new deal with Paramount.
