Her team is sick, for sure. I’d say hear team would be together with the bros+D for runners up, on bets. This year’s SBO looks great, I can’t wait to see who comes from US and what the brackets will be. I wish they could have double elim and more matches, for a longer ST action.
Hd Remix results don’t really mean much. Hd is a different game than st.
Exactly. I don’t think we’ll see pad Gief winning any real ST events. No, offense of course to Snake Eyes, he definitly deserved to win HDR this year.

ST is an entirely different game, a game that only real men can play. HDR players need not bother.

I have a HDR background… and you know me well now and as Blitzfu said, i play both games and i support SF2 scene.

No pad player is going to win SBO or X-Mania. Those events are on arcade cabinets. And no GGPO Zangief, pad or stick, is even half as good as Jodim.
Well, I don’t see a round-gate-only player winning either, would he manage to qualify. The highest level play just punishes mistakes with cruelty. The fact that what you have said about Jodim is most certainly true does not improve their situation, specially knowing that he is actually worse than other top Japanese Giefs. It will be a tournament of active top ST players with access to the highest competition at arcades against players who depend on small gatherings or GGPO to practice.
It’s a bad idea to underestimate pad players. If a pad player won an American ST console tourney, I honestly wouldn’t be that shocked. Pad players are just as good as stick players. I originally started out on stick at the arcades, moved to pads for a very long time, and recently came back to stick. I would only use pads with 6 face buttons for ST of course, and I could do everything I can do on stick. IMO sticks players only have a slight advantage in mashing out of throws and dizzies faster and slightly easier execution of Juice Tatsus. Everything else is the just as easy to execute on a pad though: 720s, Super combos, pianoing, option selects, etc.

Yeah, but in this case, the bar is so high that I believe VF4 is right: it will not happen. The lack of the extremely competitive environment they have in a game where match-ups matter a lot. Even if pad to square gate was easy, there are the players.

From the matches I’ve seen, Yaya, more than anyone else, is really deserving a spot. Very solid play.
Cabinets are dead almost everywhere, even in japan, they’re closing some of the most famous places to play.
I’m not discussing the fact that pad players can’t play on a cabinet, of course not, that’s not even my point, and don’t tell me that SBO is played with cabinets, cause, damn, i KNOW!
With due respect, Kuni attended evo this year and he’s well known as a very good/tough zangief, and he’s from japan, we all know that japanese level is out of our league, but!, when you have talent, it doesn’t matter if you play on pad or stick, besides, again, as far as i know, Snake can play with stick and pad, with no difference in his skill level.
Just for the record… the cabinet thing is about nostalgia factor and everything, as a matter of fact i want a cabinet so badly!, it’s a relic, i love it.

Oh my god more HDR crap polluting the ST section? Don’t you have an HDR section to discuss your game? Why do you continually post pro HDR and pro pad play stuff in an arcade game’s sub-forum? If HDR was actually a good game you’d be busy playing it and not trying to defend it every step of the way on a forum of a different game. Why is it that HDR players are so insecure about their game that they have to constantly talk about how it’s so amazing and so balanced? (rhetorical question please do not answer).
This is the ST section. This is the thread about SBO. SBO being an arcade tournament played on actual arcade cabinets. Stop talking about HDR and pad play in this entire sub-forum. It’s pathetic.
Arcade ST is the ideal ST, it’s not just nostalgia factor, there are no arcade perfect ports of ST (DC is close). I don’t know why you’re mentioning Evo or pad players when we’re discussing SBO, an arcade tournament (and a HCB SPD is a absolute joke in my opinion, I don’t care if you’re a pad player that shit is mad easy to pull off).
