wouldn’t call KO’s team stacked this year
one of the underdogs(?) imo
wouldn’t call KO’s team stacked this year
one of the underdogs(?) imo
true but considering they were able to make it to the semi’s 2 years in a row, that must be a pretty strong team, i mean KO alone OCV’d Boss’ team (i cant get that shit outta my head lol)
indeed
vidz plz
we’re gonna have to buy the dvd
after what happened this year, we HAVE to support Arcadia by doing just that
Wolfe Brothers in ST
Wong’s team in 3S last year(I think)
Nothing else comes to mind. Not sure what Ghostal is talking about by saying “quite a few times”.
the only way the ko curse ends is if he plays with kuroda
kuroda mov ko…if there is 3s again that is
i thought the SAME exact thing after the famous team of K.O, Boss and MOV
i suggested that to MOV at Sunroute Cup (him, K.O, and Kuroda) and he didnt give me a straight answer about it
There are some others I’ve seen from some older Tougeki DVDs (2003 - 2006) I got from eBay a couple of weeks ago:
Justin and Hello Kitty (don’t remember the team name) got to the second round in 3rd Strike in 2005
Floe got to the second round of Tekken 5 in 2005
"Team USA" (Tovy and Shin; I would ASSUME they’re from the US with a team name like that, but I don’t know for sure) got to the third round in SamSho VI in 2006
US teams getting to the second round or beyond is still pretty rare; I’m posting this more so people can learn the glorious fighting game history of the US (getting to the second round is pretty glorious).
IIRC:
2003: Fetz (SC2), placed 3rd, losing to Dekka-Chou
2004: Pyrolee/Frankie3S/Arlieth Tralare (3S), lost 3rd round to J/Xiao/Issei
2005: JWong/Ricky (3S), lost 2nd round to Kuroda/Hayao, Floe (Tekken 5) lost 2nd round (forgot who)
2006: —
2007: Wolfe Bros. (HSF2) lost 3rd round to Sako/Nekohashi (This is the year the US was given 11 spots)
2008: JWong/Gootecks/KOFiend (3S), lost 2nd round to Boss (forgot who was on the team)
2009: Gustavo (TvC) lost 2nd round (don’t know who)
2010: Ganelon/Damdai/Rambo (3S) lost 3rd round to Ito/MAO/Futachan
i mean hell…kuroda mov and insert name here can win sbo…why not just give it to ko right?
still the best hypothetical sbo team is:
kuroda (go) ino (ke) mov (ry)
seriously tho…i just wanna know if it was hype enough to warrant another year
Since when is 3S never not hyped enough?
sf4 semis ( x=loss/o=win)
semifinal #1:tkd/umehara/bon chan vs denpa/nen/dashimaki tamago (last chance qualifier i believe)
tkd x - o denpa
bon chan o - x denpa
bon chan o - x dashimaki tamago
bon chan x - o nen
umehara o - x nen
semifinal #2 RF/kindevu/momochi vs nemo/mago/tokido
RF x - o tokido
kindevu o - x tokido
kindevu x - o mago
momochi o - x mago
momohi o -x nemo (this match was brutal)
sf4 grand finals: TKD/bon chan/umehara vs RF/kindevu/momochi
RF o - x TKD
RF x - o bon chan
kindevu o - x bon chan
kindevu o -x umehara
the national champs take sbo!
don’t get me wrong…i think its hype enough to run sbo, but we all knew it was hanging in the balance.
I’m sad for TKDs losses without getting anybody. He’s a helluva player and a really nice guy.
Hooray, Kindevu you sexy beast…
^
they did.
jwong put on blast.
i think the last match was decided when RF defeated tkd game 1, gave their team a chance to see the order of the others and counter accordingly. finals were great, really hype. momochi destroying nemo was toooo sick
SBO 2008 3rd Strike 3v3 - Team Inoue JAPAN (Kuroda - Q/MOV - Chun/Empty) - MOV never played until they were in semi-finals where they lost. That, coupled with their placements in past SBOs individually and as a team, makes MOV/Kuroda pretty much the top team overall in my opinion.
Also, I think the tournament is more than hyped in Japan; the Japanese players practice hard all year for this tournament specially as well as local tournaments. It’s only since the release of SFIV that the American crowd has taken a stronger interest in SBO from what I can tell.
Kindevu’s Rufus beat a Vanilla Sagat and Daigo’s Ryu, but he switched to Cammy for SSF4? Wow.
I’m buying the DVD this year for sure.
