Ralph, man, it’s not just shittalk over games. This guy was the aggressor, and he is the one who constantly furthered the issue. I have no problems with any of the people who were at the last tourny. You guys were cool as hell, and you can also vouch for the fact that I was a completely mellow guy. I even played some rounds with Amakusa, who promptly handed me my ass. If someone at the tourny had said “Hey, man, you suck at games.” I wouldn’t have cared, because I pretty much do. But if someone had called me a shittalking pussy, I would’ve been pretty angry. You gotta see the difference. We don’t all live in harmony, people get pissed, and everything that happens on the Internet does not stay on the Internet, not if it’s personal.

What the fuck kind of logic is this? We throw tournaments to get better, we wouldn’t need them if we were already the best.

We’re not trying to prove anything, we’re just providing another place for tournament-starved New England players to compete and have fun.

Also, about DeepThroat slipping you the top-secret insider info that we suck, we’ve already plastered that all over this thread. Dave posted “I am a scrub,” Stu admitted to a less than stellar performance, and I’ll tell you right now that I’m not very good. We’re all still in the learning phase, but I think that we have some serious potential. However, that potential isn’t going to manifest without competition. If you’re that much better than us, come to the next tournament, we could learn a lot from you.

Oh snap, peas out and such. I would like to reiterate what Rich had said earlier, in regard to LiquidSwordz. If you really are good, you should come up to play. Not only would you win your money back, assuming you are as good as you say, but it would be nice to learn any new tricks on our end of things.

Dave, Jay, and Stu :

I want to emphasize the fact that Phil’s original post was “if I went, I would have gotten 1st/2nd…,” and Jay’s reply was “how about I beat the shit out of your face for about 3 hours.” Maybe I’m too much of a Cowboy Bebop-watching pussy to get so offended over increasingly standard post-tournament “would have” talk as to feel the need to physically retaliate against it, but no one can deny that this is getting blown way out of proportion.

I am not siding with Phil. I am not saying his shit-talk wasn’t out of pure malice, nor am I pretending it didn’t get under my skin. Just keep in mind that although Phil was an asshole for writing the post that started all of this, the one under it was the first to take it beyond games.

If you still feel that Phil’s posts were so personal as to warrant settling the conflict in the manner you’ve threatened to, I would really appreciate it if you did so outside of Barnage. If not, I’ll just hand my responsibilities over to Jay. It’s nothing personal, I just don’t want to assist in the running of a tournament that promises real ass-beatings to be dealt under the same roof as their electronic incarnations. It would be bad for our reputation, and bad for the Street Fighter scene.

Instead of stomping it out, you fueled the fire by calling their bluff. You had the power to end this, but, instead, you were a prick in your following posts, whose contents do merit an assbeating. This is not a personal threat, I’m over it. I’m just saying that, in my opinion, Jay’s threat lacked foundation until you took it upon yourself to retroactively build it. It was only unjustifiable until you justified it with your responses.

hey phil…you talk shit…you shit on a tourny i worked hard w/ rich and matt to throw. EVERYONE there said they had fun, and said it went smoothly.

this was the FIRST fucking tourny we threw and we had a decent turnout, and according to everyone there it went great.
me, rich, and matt took time to throw it, and i put up my place to host it, and EVERYONE there showed so much respect that there’s no way i would even question not having another.

seriously…thanks to all you guys, i was nervous about maybe the smoking thing or just w/ shit getting trashed or something, and you guys treated my house like it was yours…that was really fucking cool.

then we post our results, and some kid who didn’t go, and doesn’t know me, or what our tourny was like, comes in and bashes all the players in it…while at the same time bashing the tourny itself, and the hosts.

i took that very personally…i mean there’s talking shit and then there’s just flat out being an asshole, and a crappy human being. (that’s you)

I’m with Rich on this one…just calm down. I did a lot to help run the tournament and I didn’t take any offense to what Phil was saying. He can think what he wants. If he really was good enuogh he would’ve shown up. The end. Physical violence over this stupid shit-talking is the stupidest bullshit I’ve ever heard. Let’s just all let go of it, get together at the next Barnage and have fun playing some video games like we did a few weeks ago. If this violence shit keeps up then I refuse to have any part in the tournament. I won’t show up to play, and I sure won’t help run the thing.

I’m not saying that if you guys end up beating the hell out of eachother at an arbitrary location, I won’t help with/go to the tournament. However, if I have to worry about things getting violent during a tournament that I am involved in organizing, that’s when you can count me out.

frankly rich he has put me in a spot where he has questioned if i will follow through w/ what i say.

if he apologizes nothing will happen…if he doesn’t apologize then frankly i don’t want the kid at my house cause i won’t tolorate disrespect like that.

nothing will happen at the tournament…i can in fact say this because it is on my property and i will not tolerate people fighting on my property. (including myself).

for that reason, if phil can’t reach some understanding, he and only he is simply not welcome at my house, which is really not a big deal seeing how he says our tournament is a “waste of tiime” and he “won’t show up” and what not.

me + phils little thing here will not affect out tourny, outside of the fact one of us won’t be there if this shit isn’t straightned out before the next barnage. seeing how we host it, 3 guesses who won’t be there.

Agreed, Phil has the power to stop it all now, one way or the other. If he wants to further everything, then he may. I’d settle for him just not posting anymore, I don’t even care about an apology. I do feel as though maybe I’ve lost a little respect over this, because it is stupid, but stupid is relatively insignigicant when it comes down to a matter of personal pride. That’s just the way I am, the way I’m built; when someone else gets aggressive, I’m like I dog, I get aggressive. I can understand Matt’s points, and I know Matt is more or less a pacifist, so that’s cool. I also understand Rich, in that no, Phil didn’t decide to make it physical, but Jay has an excellent point in that there is a difference between boasting and leveling personal attacks at people. I think shit talking in general is just anout the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Do you really need to put yourself up on a pedestal, and put others down? If you’re good, then that’s great, come play some games and win. Beyond that, keep it to yourself. It just breeds bad feelings, and for me and those like me, especially Jay who seems to almost mirror my tendencies in many, many ways, it breeds anger. This probably is a black-eye for New England SF, but those who came to the last tournament know how we are, and now that our tournys are fun. I’m sorry to all my friends who help to organize these events, in that I’ve probably caused more headaches for you than before. But at the same time, that’s just the way I am. Don’t insult me, no matter how insignificant it might be to you. Don’t make me angry…you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. BUM BUM BUM BUUUUUUUMMMMMM. So, barring anymore noise from Camp Phil, I’d like to consider this matter to be closed, dead, and all manner of over. I’ve gotten the feeling that my friends have been hesitant to talk to me over this, and that’s a bad thing. Except Jay, he called me, but I was out by the time he called. Sorry dude.
