all joking aside, to any new players, or people who have been inspired by watching daigo play guile and want to learn how to use him. if you have PSN and live in europe or the east coast of america, i’d be happy to let share my knowledge/teach you some stuff.
Lesson one: The motion for sonic boom is not QCF + P…
Lesson two: The motion for flash kick is not OCB + K
Lesson three: Guile only has 2 special moves… (I’m tempted to say that air throw is 0.5 and aviator taunt is the other 0.5 LOL)
First thing I’ll be doing is getting that FK --> FADC --> U2 Ultra motion down PAT
Diago played a great zoning Guile, but I would also urge new Guiles to go through the video thread and watch some of the Amazing Guiles from this board to give you the full spectrum of what he can do all around.
if i am playing someone who’s already a level or two above my own personal skill level regardless of who they pick, then on top of that they use a character who can basically stun guile in 2 combos (like sagat/ryu/seth/akuma), then no, i don’t see beating my guile as a big deal. lol
Seth vs guile is heavily in seths favour at least in vanilla sf4 like wikum said he can stun you in two combos you have to get in properly about 4 times to ko him, he has a lot more options it’s like fighting a super fast dhalsim that rapes up close and with guiles low stun it just doesn’t help.
I’m not trying to come off like a scrub who cant fight seth but seriously wikum did say the dude was a lot better than him and using a character that really has the tools to destroy guile almost free in that situation.
lets get two things straight. firstly, guile CAN cope with seth. in fact, guile can really get to seth. i always see a lot of seth players talking about how they struggle against guile. sometimes i even think it’s 5-5 against turtle seth. but it’s definitely not 5-5 against a rush down seth who doesn’t miss combos or make many mistakes. not only does this seth happens to have ridiculous skill, but the most championship points on the whole of psn (over 125,000gp). so it’s not like i struggle against the “character” seth, more who’s using him. for example, my friend and srk poster kanta kun is also very good with seth. but i’ve got a much better record against him.
i think where seth becomes a huge threat is when he scores that first knockdown. he can change his trajectory in the air with the dive kick (d,hk) so that’s one guess you’ve gotta get right. it’s not a very easy move to anti air with guile when it’s being used from up close. he was using it almost like rufus would. when crouching, you have to hit cr.hp REALLY early, otherwise he flies behind you, or it hits you. if you block right on his jump in, then you gotta guess again very quickly. if you try to jump out of there and he goes for low short into bnb combo, you’re fucked. if you don’t jump out of there and he hits you with command grab, you’re fucked. if he does a dive kick into nothing at all and you jump backwards/back dash, he has enough time to do ANOTHER dive kick. so really you’re always just totally guessing. we don’t even need to go into corner pressure, do we? lol
i think that THIS is exactly what endless battle is for. i was sceptical about this mode at first. but now i think capcom have really pulled a stroke of genius with this one.
for example, i can message my friend on psn who uses sakura to join my room. then they can invite their friend who mains blanka…and so on. this way you get a nice variety, with a lot of good connections. don’t like someone in your lobby because they have a bad connection? flowcharting? kick them out!
if you want a 1 on 1 like the old player match rooms, just set the endless mode to private slots with 2 players.
It’s still annoying when some is like “lol all they did is beat guile wat do I care”. He has every right to gloat in your face, even he’s the biggest asshole around.
Also lobbies are nothing new, they’ve been in fighting games for a while.
yesterday I got owned by a seth in champion. He was very good and did not miss any of his combos, I got stuned in both rounds, I was able to do Nothing but didnt feel bad to lose against him. Guile can still put up a fight against seth, but 1 mistake will cost guile a stun and 65% your health, you have to guess right on seth crossup and mixup. Anyways, I think Guile just has to work harder to win, seth has too many tools to get away safe and to go in aswell. I do give this guy my recognition, it is not his fault his charcater has some advantages over a low stun character. He did what he had to do, win. And I enjoyed getting owned this time, it was almost perfect, lol.
in super the seth match is probably going to be harder, due to ultra 2 being better than ultra 1 in the guile match (imo).
anyways, this isn’t even the thread for the seth matchup. i don’t even know why i’m still talking about it.
i’m gonna move on to daigo.
you know what i really enjoyed about watching daigo use guile? not the justin matches. the valle matches were awesome. they really gave me the feeling that guile can now go toe to to with ryu and sagat. and to all us guile mains, that’s music to our ears.
i absolutely loved those sonic hurricane/hadouken punishes. that shit got me hyped! sadly i don’t get to play super until friday (where as all you bitches are getting it today) .
the other thing that i liked about watching daigo/valle was that even though daigo is obviously a bit rusty with guile, he was pulling out back fist, cr.mk, st.hk and sobat like it was back to super turbo all over again.
guile looked a lot quicker than he used to. i can’t really put a finger on why. but the fact is, valle is one of the top 3 ryu’s in america, right? (i personally don’t think this is even an argument). the fact that daigo faired so well against him with guile definitely gives me a lot of hope that guile is now much more competitive.
SH is a thread to ryu and sagat spamers, Daigo proved it in action. I loved it. From a different perspective, Ryu has the same tools orless, does his c.mk combo into fireball still?, no more easy trades to ultra? and guile has faster booms and sonic hurracane. I am not saying guile > ryu, but watching the second best character against the 2 shittiest character is over. SSF4 today in 5 hours baby. Sry wikum, Ill beat you to it first. LOL.
I will go to training mode, load both meters and try bnb FADC SH. Thats #1 in my list, I heard gilley saying it is difficult, so might take me some time.
That’s the thing that makes me a bit sad because it’s true.
I main Guile and have for quite some time. I even enjoyed Vanilla Guile as it meant every win was well deserved. Now I’m gonna be just another Guile scrub when I enter a Tournament with him. I know I shouldn’t care…but strangely enough, I do
lol. On my way to my local my friend and I were taking bets on how many band wagon Guiles there would be. We were not disappointed at the free win streaks. XD Although, I am bummed because I seconded Guile in Vanilla and now -I- will be called bandwagon. I feel your pain Extra.
Nay. If you’ve been maining Guile for a while, you won’t just be “another scrub.” You would, in the very least, know what you’re doing. The difference between you and the other people is that you already have an understanding of how to use Guile, which should be beneficial to you.
Oddly enough, when I played online yesterday, I faced NO Sagats, ONE Ryu, two Kens, ONE Guile. Not much of a bandwagon so far.
Oh yes. I’ve tested: Sonic Hurricane will get beasted by EX Green Hand on reaction. I know. I had this happen twice on me. So that’s a tip for next time: No Sonic Hurricane (Kick lol) when Gief has EX Green Hand.
id have to say its about time Guile got the superstar spotlight. thank you capcom for SSF4.
But definitely, it depends on where your going. if you’ve mained Guile for a while then the people at the scene should know you well enough not to label you as bandwagon, so attest the 12kgrind to G1 and back at 0 in SSF4.
