Oscar does have competition- Hello- ARCADE INFINITY…and who is his main competition…HMMM A GUY BY THE NAME OF MR. OK, let’s have a history lesson. The only SNK game I actually played competitively was Samurai Tenka. A game I won easily at Texas Showdown 6, the only tournament you ever played with legit competition. I got 1st and Aznhitler got 2nd. I think you got 9th or something.
Fast forward: Buktooth returns to the U.S., and at MWC that year we ask you when Samurai Tenka is going to happen throughout the weekend. We show up on Sunday when it’s “supposed” to happen and mysteriously the tournament already started and is in the finals. You win, hooray. We didn’t really care that much but it’s hilarious that you wanted to declare yourself #1 at a game you couldn’t place Top 8 at in Texas when people were playing.
Next was some Evo tournament, where you were mysteriously in the finals vs Tokido, again with no notice to Buktooth or myself there was a Tenka tournament. Note that Buktooth was one of the more well-known Tenka players in Japan for inventing a lot of Iroha’s tricks that were then used by Mishima and the other Iroha users.
KOF 12 is a game I picked up casually because we had it at my arcade. The Answer, rightfully, whooped my ass at the game in the tournament thanks to Elizabeth, a console character I had never seen before. He also OCV’d me with Iori, though, so he probably would’ve won no matter who he picked. Anyway, he was much better at the game than me.
The fact is you consistently duck playing good players in tournaments (holding Tenka without me and Campbell). If you want a more recent example, there is you DQ’ing Keits in 98UM at Evo even though you knew he was at the Smash bracket. You are so obsessed with protecting your image in a community that doesn’t exist in this country outside of 10 people or so. The reason we let you have it is: we really don’t care at all.
You can keep not uploading vids of you losing, not showing yourself play against Japanese players you fly out to Mexico, and finding ways to not play against any players in tournaments that are a threat to your ego. We really don’t care whether or not you roll with it or not, it’s amusing to a lot of people now. The truth is: top players lose. All the time. Nobody wins 'em all, and even if you just sucked up your ego and got 3rd in a few SNK tournaments instead of 1st, nobody would suddenly disrespect you.
Yeah, I don’t know who Mr. KOF is, he’s probably pretty good. Better than medium-grade Chinese players, probably not.
Anyway, you’ve got a lot of work to do if you ever want to redeem yourself in the eyes of serious players, but I still think you can do it if you let go of the e-image and roll with some of the punches.
