TN Thread: Now hiring managers and shift leaders

Sorry I missed the party, memphis. It’s been a fucked up weekend.

Saw the finals for mvc3 and ae. Great stuff.

Anything happening at GG on Tuesday?

Fei is good but I think he has a few more bad matchups…

I still think Yang is not up there…if anything, the tiers IMO look like this:

Top:
Yun

Upper Tier
Sagat
Viper
Fei Long
Akuma

Upper MIddle Tier
Yang
Makoto
Bison
Cammy
Balrog

I honestly don’t think there are characters better than that group of 10, after that it is mix and match
I

There is only one character better than all of them combined.

You don’t think Gief is up there?

Problem is, while most reasonable people say Yang is pretty much fine, all of the bitching which caused the balanced change are the people lumping Yun and Yang together. They just say “twins” as if they are the same character, or Yang is almost as good. IMO If they just nerfed his meter building ( it is absurd ) and maybe his ultra one and two damage he’d be fine. He’s a top 5 character, but he’s not nuts as fuck like Yun. Hopefully they look to EVO ( no yang players even made a ripple ) for some of their balancing decisions.

Also I think Viper is nerf-bound. Japanese players think a nerf on her ultra damage has been needef for a long time, and honestly she’s a pretty dumb character. She’s got everything going for her and nearly no bad matches anymore. Crazy damage, and honestly to be 100% effective with her takes nothing fancy. When it was really getting down to the wire on Latif’s top 8 matches he played much simpler and more focused and it was really paying off. Overall I think it is two early to change the entire cast around, because nobody really knows what will happen and everyones like freaking out hoping they re-buff certain characters, nerf so and so… Its dumb. They should have just slightly tuned Yun down, maybe Fei, and left it at that for a while.

OBVIOUSLY Seth needs to be on that list Jason… :looney:

but yeah I’d have to agree with that list, although I really dont know much about Sagat and his matchups so thats kind of a ??? for me. I know supposedly hes a good one against Yun…

Nerf Viper? Nah I’d say she’s right where she needs to be, getting ultras on people is no cakewalk (except maybe on jump ins/point blank ex seismos) so the damage is fine. Sounds like a bunch of whining to me. And besides they nerfed her damage from Vanilla to Super. It used to do ludicrous damage, now it just does ridiculous damage lol.

How about when “balancing” they actually bring up the lower tier chars as well. There are some ridiculous issues with some of the lower tier chars that should be fixed/addressed along with possible tweaks to a few of the highest rated folks.

Edit: Also what happened to Diago and MvC3? From the results I saw he wasn’t even in top 20?

Pretty solid outside of missing Ken. I think he will probably be top tier when the game is rebalanced.

That’s like how I was gonna go to Final Round this year and then my lady got ovarian cysts that made her feel stabbing pains the night before - I feel your pain.

Another set of balance changes is just going to bring more bitching and now they are finally gonna bring the nerf king to Bison for real and I’m gonna be a sad man, which reminds me - why the hell is no one blocking now? I think Latif is a good player, but he seriously almost never blocks on wake up: EX Seismo, backdash or Focus + backdash - Fuudo noticed and was doing U1 and EX Rekkas when Latif got up because if he didnt jump in the air, Latif was going to do 1 out these three things almost every time. Daigo, lost to Latif because he just didn’t block in that last set on wake up - I’m not sure if it was ego, but I was watching it very confused. It’s possible that I missed some new methods that are best options since I haven’t played a lot lately, but what the hell was that about?

A lot of the EX Seismos on wakeup were canceled into block / throw / etc… He used it on wakeup for the invincibility, then cancel…

shit’s so gawdliek

I’ll agree with this list. I still think Deejay should be somewhere up there (Maybe right behind Balrog or so), I don’t think Gief has what it takes to be in the top 10, or close to it anymore. He’s still a strong character and I gay love him to death, but he is starting to fall through the cracks as new shit is getting pumped out by the other characters. Not to mention, T-hawk is the better grappler of the two, he would be higher up than Gief is. But eh, its whatevs.

GRam: Outside of Gief getting jab pile driver range, what else does he have that shifts the balance back to him being top tier? That stuff doesn’t “help” his bad matchups…The glove NOT knocking down is ok but you can just hold up/towards anyway to get out of mixups and even if Gief can glove you again he has to burn meter after that (EX Glove)…once you get used to the range (especially with Giefs jumping a lot) you’ll see it’s nothing special.

He still has the same bad matchups (Chun) and the matchups he was ok at got BETTER for the other characters (Vega, Bison) He also is NOT a Yun killer…definitely not a top 10 character…

I agree Ken and Deejay are very solid characters…Deejay I think is untapped right now, Ken no is really taking advantage of the jab as they should, but all of those other characters have something dirty up their sleeves…if anything Balrog is the only iffy one on that list (shockingly) but there’s a lot of misconception about the best characters sans Yun…

Heck, even Fei Long…as solid as he is, he got frame advantage on EX Rekka, but lost invincibility on his kicks for the most part…not sure how giving him + on EX Rekka makes him godly because the matchups didn’t change much and he wasn’t this jumped on in SSF4…not saying he’s not good but he’s not a simple character to win with either…

About the whole Phoenix thing…

PR Rog definitely could’ve won, but he dropped several combos against a pre-5bar Phoenix, which singlehandedly cost him the match. Also, he didn’t use a single Dante teleport against Phoenix while she was throwing salty balls.

Personally, I can’t remember the last time I lost to a Phoenix team. This can be attributed to Hulk and Dorm being anti-Phoenix characters, but there are a few characters that can pressure her decently. I believe the problem is the characters that can easily mixup and build her meter so well (Wolverine, Wesker, Magneto). Nerfing those characters, which has been confirmed already, would effectively weaken Phoenix. There were 8 out of the top 32 teams that had Phoenix, and 6 of those 8 had Wolverine, Wesker, or Mags.

In short, it’s not Phoenix that’s the problem. It’s her teammates…

I have a sudden urge to pick Ken back up.

Let’s see how long it lasts…

So Fei FinAlly wins Evo…

Don’t know people thought he was never good in the past…I’m suprised he didn’t win Evo When he came on console,I knew what he was caple of , that’s why I used him as often

The Fei threads are more filled up thAn that time Sanford got perfected by Pad-Fei

Not now…I’m enjoying all the negative feedback I get when Fuerte wins … How. Did I get all the way up to top 10 fuerte online?

It was a pretty big day for Blazblue yesterday, as a Hakumen player took first while 6-0’ing one of America’s best players. For comparison, that’s like a Gouken player beating Latif 6-0 in grand finals.

Ken is a beast in this game. He does well against the twins, including winning on Yang I think. I would put him in top 10 easily. Beats Viper’s ass, does good against Seth, okay against Fei, etc… He’s underrated still. People started figuring out how crazy ambiguous his air tatsu can be, and started applying his kara shoryu well and it is pretty dirty.

Im still concerned about what this patch is going to do for arcades…
