The plan was to go to Memphis literally up until the morning of. But I’m dead serious when I say that shit fell through for reasons beyond my control.
I got word from Phil that Pat couldn’t make it (and before people start being assholes to Pat he’s in a very weird and personal situation with his fam so chill out). Phil’s plan was to ride with Pat, but since Pat couldn’t make it, he was going to meet up with Eddie and I at Eddie’s crib. The problem with this was, Phil’s car fucking died Saturday morning. He was working to get it fixed but it was storming in Murfreesboro at the time. We tried to find him another ride out there (Murfreesboro is an hour away from Eddie’s place), but it wasn’t happening. Phil was able to get his car fixed but by the time he did Eddie just wasn’t feeling making the trip. Then Eddie got called by his sister who needed him to watch his niece.
So that’s the story. God must not have wanted us to go to Memphis yesterday. I was pretty bummed because I was really excited about coming, and it looks and sounds like it was mad fun. But fall back guys, damn…we are all friends here.

Lol, huh? Fei is lauded as top tier right up there with the twins.
Also, Yun is still horrifying to fight against. There is something to be said when there are a handful of characters that are considered good for the lone fact that they do well against him. Yeah a lot of people are complaining, and yes, in the world of competitive gaming you aren’t going to satisfy everyone, but I’d say in this instance, balancing is justified. And I mean it’s not like people are asking to make Yun shitty. I think no matter what they do to him, he’s still going to be fantastic, probably still the best in the game. They just need to compress the tiers.
This was my issue with the announcement of AE balance changes. I REALLY didn’t feel like that needed to happen. I personally feel like console Super SFIV is the most balanced SF game ever. Then AE comes along and there are so many design decisions that just don’t make sense. Characters that were good but hardly dominant were getting things taken away from them (Guile, Dhalsim, Honda, etc), then you add the twins and all other manners of craziness, completely counter-intuitive to the great balance that was acheived early on.
But that’s just my take…
Latif’s rampage was pretty awesome to watch, though I felt the grand finals were a bit anticlimactic. Props to Fuudo, he was incredibly solid. I loved all the showmanship, especially from Kindevu and Poongko. Epic day of matches across all games, there were a bunch of moments for the ages.

This year’s EVO blew my mind. Although Latif got stomped pretty badly in Grand Finals, he had a hellacious kill list (Daigo, Tokido, and Poongko). Also, watching PR Rog pull that shit with Tron against Phoenix got me hype as hell.
What I hate the most is that people are still going to bitch about USA being free and shit.
