TN Thread: Now hiring managers and shift leaders

Only 8 chars on release will hurt it somewhat

Not really. I think the game is already deep enough on its own to where it doesn’t matter.

Oh yeah for sure, I didn’t mean it would hurt it in terms of gameplay, just popularity. I’ll be interested to see if it will be able to generate a big enough fan base to become a major competitive fixture at tournaments.

I"ll be the honest/upfront person and tell everyone the games I WONT be playing. (Although I may try them out to see if I am pleasantly surprised)

Skullgirls
KoFXIII
Tekken
BlazBlue
Mortal Kombat

And now for games I’m genuinely interested in:

Third Strike
SFxTekken
UMvC3

However they will all be shit and pissed on for a new:

Guilty Gear

Although again to be honest I wish I could like and play all of these games well.

Marvel top 8 made me happy and unhappy

Marvel Top 8:

PR. Rog vs F Champ
Viscant vs Justin Wong
Noel Brown vs Xray
Combofiend vs ??? I forgot who.

Had fun and LMAO at Jas’s party. Found my team on MVC3 (Viper,She-Hulk and Akuma) and would you know it, Ultimate come out in NOV. I’m kind of late on the team department. GGs to all that were there. We going to have to do this again soon. 8)

To be completely frank, anyone who passes on Skullgirls because they believe having “only” eight characters doesn’t make it varied enough is a total nimrod. Custom assists alone blow that idea out of the water. If I have just one character on my team, then I am limited to eight. However pairing one character with another gives me around ten potential setups for that character, multiplied by a total of ten if you choose a second assist. Granted, some combinations will be more viable than others, but that’s still literally hundreds of potential combinations there.

Also, it makes perfect sense that Justin would enjoy the game. It was designed from the ground up to appeal to the hardcore crowd. This is the game for people who gripe about fighting games lacking depth or being dumbed down for the masses.

I agree. 8)

Just played some Rusty Hearts, feels good man. Especially for a free to play game in it’s closed beta phase.

Rebalance patch incoming. I might as well just stop playing Yang.

Shoutouts to everyone at Jas’s party last night. I had a great time, thanks for letting me come.

Check out the pics on page 5. Lol…

I know, right? I’m having a blast with it. I’ll probably get Angela (RabidDuckie) up to 20 today, and then work on either Frantz (NotAlucard) or Tude (IneptiTude). I’m typically in Gina Ch 4 if anyone ever wants to play.

mericuh. Me and Mike Boggs are the new Clarksville Beer Pong Champions.
Shoutouts to Luis for a great evo/drinking/lol party, to Andrew for buying the shit to make it happen, and to Sherry who showed Martin up so hard, it’s going to be talked about for awhile lol. Also Luis, that fuckin couch is top tier for sleeping man.

bbl going to hunt down the advil and enjoy a day at work.

This is going to be the only time you’ll hear me recommend that place, but I’d go get some greasy lo mein noodles from the ironically Mexican-run Chinese place in the food court. Greasy food and carbs are actually good for a hangover.

Working rivergate today. I actually got some of those S-tier vitamin waters and a turkey lunchable. I’m ready to tackle the day by the neck and make it my bitch.

Duckie: I don’t know anything about skullgirls but I know that doesn’t always work (hardcore game for hardcore players) because of a little game called “Weaponlord” that came out and had the same type of “hardcore” players interested/playing it. Heck, James Goddard did it, but it was very complicated and came out in 1995, kind of a dead time as it was…with the internet and SRK hyping, skullgirls would stand a chance but nothing against Mike Z but we’ve seen this through with David Sirlin and ST on PS2 when everyone was thumbs up about it and it took 5 minutes for us to realize how silly that game actually was (me and Shirts) and a year for everyone else (latency issues OFFLINE).

Of course, this is a COMPLETELY different thing, but Weaponlord also had a very limited cast that players did jump on but the game didn’t take off. It may end up being a great game that no one plays or a terrible game that everyone plays, who the heck knows…but this does sound eerily similar.

Damn Weaponlord, I remember the EGM previews for that game. I remember thinking the character designs were pretty cool at the time.

Weaponlord is cool but it was very complex to say the least…I don’t think any game has harder moves to pull off than that one…
