+1 for the Guile Sagat match being 6-4. When you play a truly high level guile with sagat it makes you wonder why this is seen as a walk in the park. guile and gief are both 7-3 sagat , but fighting gief is A LOT easier then fighting a good guile imo.
I also think Gief is closer to 6/4 since when he does get in you can and will probably die off that one knockdown. To me Rufus is closer to 7/3. WTF can he do? Once you knock Rufus down it’s pretty much over if he doesn’t have meter and even if he does the situation still greatly favors Sagat. He gets in a bit easier then Guile and Gief, but he can’t outfootsie Sagat. Sagat’s normals > Rufus’s normals. And random specials to try to avoid TS’s can be TUed on pure reaction. He has to take mad risks and he’s also TK string bait. Sagat can play this match anyway he wants pretty much. Tiger shot hell or Tiger rush down all fucking day with wake-up madness in the mix.
Rufus just dies unless he can guess a shot and get in with a jump in or messiah kick. Then on knockdown he has some shenanigans, but it’s not Gief level shit at all.
I would call this match as 65/35 Sagat.
No way is Gief 6-4 and Rufus 7-3? Gief is 7-3 and Rufus is 6-4. The only reason anyone would probally die off that one knockdown is because they probally don’t know how to deal with it or know their options. No Sagat should be letting Gief jump in for free on a knockdown. Gief can’t handle tiger shots like Rufus. He gets fireball trapped the fuck out. His walking speed is terrible along with his forward jumping he can hardly gain any ground. The ammount of tigershot setups on Gief is amazing. The way you can limit his options is ridiculous. But it is true if he does get close it can get troublesome but he’s hardly ever going to get close to you. He’s going to have to end up guessing jump ins and random EX GH. He can’t dive kick like Rufus and stop Sagat from kara uppercuts. It’s a 7-3 match up.
Rufus vs Sagat is a horrible match-up but not as horrible as Gief. Rufus can handle tigershots. He can escape tigershot traps and Rufus’s a character that can always come back. He’s got the health to make a couple mistakes and if he guesses right that could be game over. 3/4 screen he can guess a tigershot and react to it. If he doesn’t see a tigershot he can just dive kick. If he does see one, j.HP xx ultra. Rufus’s wake up game compared to Gief is MUCH better. Safe dive kicks that can’t be uppercutted, ambiguious dive kick cr.MK xx tornado, empty dive kick grab/delay grab, delay dive kick crouch techs, empty dive kick ex messiah, bait a reversal for a full punish or whatever. There’s so much more to this match up but it’s a 6-4 match up, Rufus can handle Sagat.
How is a safe jump on wake-up “letting someone jump at you for free”
And I still say Sagat has more control in more situations vs Rufus the Gief. Namely the wake-up game. You don’t even have to think vs Rufus on wake-up. He dies to meaty low short. He does better vs shots, but that’s about it. Gief is far more threatening up close.
we both saw to that at hitbox…lol!!!
abel bodies me help!
You’re talking about after EX GH yeah?
Are you saying that you have more trouble playing Gief then Rufus? Because I seriously can’t believe that. Gief is threatening up close but is he going to get close? Do you understand how hard it is for Gief to get in? I’ve heard you’re a rush down Sagat type of person so maybe you don’t understand the fireball game in this match up but Gief has a TOUGH time to get in. Just landing EX TS, TK, fwd.RH, blocked high tigers, blocked slow low tigers. Do you know what this means to Gief?
Rufus loses on wake up but it doesn’t mean game over. One wrong TK blocked high, target combo. This guy just has to land one combo or Ultra and that could be game over.
I prefer to rushdown but I know how to zone lol. I would fuck with Sagat if I didn’t.
Nah, I don’t have more trouble with Gief then Rufus. I’m just lookin at their tools and IMO Rufus is just easier overall to body then Gief is.
The only thing I could possibly think of is that you maybe havn’t played a good Rufus yet? I don’t know one Sagat that doesn’t find Rufus a bit trouble. Look at all the top Japs Sagats lose to Rufus’s but how many Sagats do you see losing to Gief? Once Rufus gets in how are you saying you’re not having trouble? Dive kick delay grab to prevent mashed uppercuts. Dive kick preasure to land on crouch techs or someone clicking buttons to recieve a Rufus BnB or Target combo. Crouch teching with cr.MP won’t work if he jumps a little higher another combo. Man seriously I don’t understand how you find Rufus easier then Gief man, lol. This guy can throw out a random EX Messiah and leave you with a guessing game. Frikking the kick follow up beats UPPERCUTS.
I knock Rufus on his ass and he doesn’t get up. Japanese Sagat’s don’t do this for w/e reason. That said I have lost to Rufus in tourney and Gief in tourney. *shrug And I have beaten them in tourney. *shrug again It’s just my opinion of course based on evidence. Sagat still wins both match-ups anyway.
Are you talking about TK strings on Rufus? Personally I think Sagat gains much more damage from a distance vs Rufus.
I would rather end the match fast and overwhelm him. Nah, I’m talking about his wake-up period. He really can’t do shit other then try to guess an ex messiah between Sagat’s strings.
You’re a brave Sagat, lol. Say he does get a Messiah on you, are you not scared on wake up? From far you can still end the match fast. I just love it when they actually just can’t get in. Seeing as you love to rush down, do you do the same vs Boxer? …
So can someone explain to me why blanka is 7-3? also when can I punish blanka balls with lk kara uppercut. I do it in training mode and it feels inconsistant.
Boxers actually back up from me. Same thing really. I abuse his wake-up and I’m DAMN sure not scared of him when he knocks me down. That said I will generally zone Boxer till he gets close then I go bat shit insane all his face. I will with rushdown I can end the match decisively and quickly. Plus crushing someone’s spirit utterly and leaving no doubt in their mind as to who the stronger player is…it’s just an exhilarating feeling.
I find fighting Gief easier than Rufus.
Gettin’ hit by EX messiah or those piss easy ultra setups is depressing.
If I had to weigh in on who’s tougher I’d go with Gief. Sure Rufus has a sick rushdown game, but Gief has his vortex on knockdown which is very dangerous, as well as not being able to pressure him on knockdown like Rufus (who stuns quickly as well). I love to rushdown on wakeup whenever I knock my opponent down (exceptions being Ryu thanks to SRK and some other characters) but forget it with Gief. It’s also very tense playing a good Gief, since one wrong TS you eat an EX greenhand, which means you’re knocked down and he’ll jump cross down fierce which beats TU into vortex. Forget frame trapping gief, never ever jump at him once, even on wakeup. I can meaty low short rufus, he messiahs I TU, or safe jump OS TU. If you’re purely a zoning Sagat in every match you’ll love Gief more, but if you like to rushdown when you knock down the opponent, I’d much rather have Rufus. Also, TU>Dash Forward>Eat Ultra vs. gief. So tasty.
man i get crushed by patient rogs and they can just advance on me no problem
what isit that you re exactly struggling with?
