Better off testing reversal situations with cr.lp xx firellball than TU if your not sure then once you get a handle on the data you can take it from there to cr.lp xx uppercut. Rose can be pretty safe most of the time with the right spacing.
Cr.mp xx spiral isn’t always true, in fact I think they might be all untrue so they are mashable. Problem is lots of Rose players also do just single cr.mp. If they are spamming that shit though TU that bitch.
It is definitely one of Sagat’s toughest match-ups. Dudley’s quite a difficult character to zone due to his ducking and U1(hate this ultra so badly). His U1 is likely the best anti FB ultra in the game.
The keys to success are, learn to do DEEP tiger-uppercuts. Dudley can actually stuff TU/Untechable trade knockdown Sagat if he TU’s too early one some of Dudley’s jump ins.
Abuse Dudley’s ass wake up, he has a 3 frame DP, but no invincibility until he has ex.
Be on point with your TK game. Sagat’s TK does ass damage, and has to be perfectly spaced to be at 0 or +1, but when it works, it’s a life saver in this match up because it gets the guy off of you.
Try not to throw out random normals, Dudley’s hk into ex.machine gun blow is a fairly good counter poke buffer in this match up. A lot of Dudley’s normals stuff sagat’s so it’s smart to not get reckless with them in a footsie position.
You have to fake feints when throwing FB’s at a range that you know dudley can duck through and get you. When I see a duck bait is successful, I usually TU it, cr.lp xx something or Tk it.
Finally, learn how to punish ex.machine gun blow on block. It’s -3 and is a 1 frame punish with cr.lp, go to training try plinking it(if you can) or consistently getting it. The cr.lp into TU is a huge punish for the match-up, not because of the damage but the wake up pressure.
cr mp rapes dudley up close st rh is also good against his focus or whiff punishing depending the normal pressure him on his wake up and look for a ex dp when they have 3 bars he can also bait a throw and ssb its safe unless you have super lk super can punish it
Dudley’s fine. It’s a pretty fair fight. I find all of Sagat’s standing normals shut down a heap of Dudley’s options.
St.hk will whiff punish the ducks and focus.
St.mk is godlike at keeping the front area clear
St.lk again breaks focus fishing and keeps him from closing in.
Also the occasional neutral jump mk will catch him for a combo or take him clean out of the air. Just don’t get predictable with you’re TS game and it’s just as hard for Dudley to close in as most characters. I’d be using TS more like a poke as opposed to a full on zoning tool. Sagat’s normal’s are good enough to win. Don’t forget TK either, shit damage but will win most of the time in the neutral game if you make a correct read and throw him back.
Vertical range was simply mistranslation. It’s meant to the TU that goes straight up, no angle. I.e stopping neutral jumps on wake up, or ideal for auto-correct DP’s.
Don’t forget, EX TU will ALWAYS, yes ALWAYS lead into a free ultra vs Hakan. No strict timing at all, this should be your go to Punish, saves bar and does excellent Damage.
No I play decent dudley’s now and again although not as much as when the game was active. Sure he’s difficult but I’d much rather play dudley than any of Sagats bad matches. Getting “in” with Dudley isn’t as devastating as someone like Fei Long or Akuma.
