@ sanstorm lols glad you liked it bro howd you come across it?
i seriously am starting to think that the fei longs you are vsing uber are not playing the sagat matchup correctly . one reka from half screen or even further and your cornered. i really would like to see some footage. the matchup is by far sagats worst. dudley is hard but winnable in ft10 scenario as is viper and ibuki . the mixups are a pain i agree but you just have to learn how to block them not to mention ibuki and viper die quickly. one ultra combo really fucks them up. but fei has good health sagats combos do less damage then feis. his footsie is better he can shut down fireball game completely. how is that a 5-5 when in super it was 6-4 what u guys are saying makes no sense and is not logical at all. http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/oct/17/street-fighter-4-tiers-character-rankings/ if you look carefully at sagat n fei its listed as 6-4 and that was at a time when fei long was weaker now he is S rank sure sagat got slightly better getting 20 extra damage on dp but the buffs fei long got were way more. i even think the match was harder then 6-4 in super just that fei longs wernt as good back then and the buffs really helped him anyways im not going to keep going beyond this ill wait for some footage and i want more then one match because anybody can win one match when i vsd starnab at evo in a side tourney i was up 1-0 and tbh i got pretty close to winning but i feel starnabs fei doesnt know the sagat matchup that well not dissing him hes a good fei but i just feel he doesnt play the matchup like stronger feis have against me.
Starnab is not the best v sagat in europe , Evans is. No invincibility on normal chicken wing is huge nerf defensively and offensively , you can actually pressure him on wakeup without thinking about too many options even when he has no meter , when he has no meter you can actually zone him , even with the best fei longs who like to walk forward and push u to the corner if u are a capable zoner u will still be able to do your thing. I searched and alot of my matches v good fei longs are not uploaded however i found one in a tournament v Yota one of the top Uk fei longs , even though this was a while ago , im alot more adept now and i can block all of his nonsense , i get hit by a few mp set ups tht i would block every time now. even though I just lose this u can see that Sagat can definately fight fei long. Like i said , im just trying to help u understand the fei long match is not as impossible as u may think , yes it is very hard but if u keep at it you will definately see the benefits .Anyway tomorow is super Vs battle in the UK , alot of good players will be there so im gonna be training v feis and yangs and ibukis naturally lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Z-RaNFm9I&feature=channel_video_title Skip to 39 Minutes to see the fight v fei
that was nice play jiji but this fei was actually not doing the correct things imo. his combos were solid and he rarely fucked up but he shouldnt be going for combo into sweep he should be doing the full damage. fei vs sagat imo the fei should not fuss about trying to knock sagat down he doesnt have a good vortex he has damage or pushing sagat to the corner which is way better against sagat for fei. he also wasnt punishing blocked fireballs with reversal reka or crouch heavy punch underneath tigershots from mid range. lots of the time he was sacrificing big damage for sweep which i think is not very smart at all. thanks for the upload i actually do lots of stuff that you do against fei. with maybe my anti at times not being as solid my dp game can sometimes be super godlike or sometimes shit ah well
Cool man, I came across it cause I usually put any sf podcast on my mp3 while I work in the office.
It’s great to listen to player’s philosophy sometimes. Enlightening shit.
Regardless, last night’s ranbat I made it to grand final against Jozhear 's claw.
He said he played u @ EVO in the redemption room I think.
I don’t know what to do against solid claw. I was doing decent, but I ate so much whiff normal punish.
Claw’s footsies are annoying. People say to beat Jamie, u gotta frame trap the fuck outta him.
I only know like simple f.lk and tk frame traps I suppose.
Truth be told, i don’t have a very good fei player in my area, so i can’t say i know this matchup fully. However as i said the way you play is really important for example i tend to play alot of knee spacing and standing jab to cut the ocassional reka. And i sacrifice blockstrings for position alot of times trying to stay out of the corner against characters like fei. (The ocassional jump over after a c.lk/c.mk saves you from getting cornered)
Thx jiji, i had forgotten about the fact that fei doesn’t have invincibility on the back of his head on the flame kick. Very important imo.
Remebering what Mago said about fei , that he was a “punisher” type character, so technically said, fei benefits the most from pushing you to doing wrong decisions and taking adavantage of it. As such, i think that playing the player is more vital then the matchup itself here
its all good uber i hope you dudes arent taking what im sayin the wrong way we all sagat brothers here we gotta stick together. any good fei will anti your jumps on reaction though bro. a stand hk or hp is easily used for that from feis end. when a matchup is that tough its true you have to fight the player not the character sometimes but how do u do that in best of 3 when u never fought that person. thats how i got knocked out in evo i should have won tbh but i made one wrong decision. i baited a dp without meter from the fei then i could have punished with str8 up ultra but i thought the damage would have not been enough so i saved it however my friend toxy told me i should have done it instead of smp heavy tiger knee i had 2 meters so i thought i need this for later but then i lost by a real close amount talk about salty right? but this fei i vsd wasnt a strong one i was in winners bracket 1 match away from qualifying winners out of my pool then was real angry and had to play my next match immediately i was mindfucked so played really badly.
@san i didnt get to atcually jo he vsd my team though toxys akuma took him out but then i lost to the dhalsim player i got stand teched to death :(.
yeah claw is hard for sagat when i played against makoto the king of claws !! he slapped me in shadowloo showdown but played him at the arcade and i kept getting close in best of 5 rounds cos in melbourne our arcades are set to best of 5. lols nice coincidence i came 2nd in last nights tourney as well toxy beat me in grand final
I was hoping for some good advice on Ibuki. Having a lot of trouble with her in general with all the characters I play but I feel I would eat her up with Sagat if I knew the match better.
Hi everyone, which characters do you think have advantage over sagat??
My sagat is below average and I have trouble with akuma, fei, good vipers, yang, dhalsim
just taught id throw this out there incase anybody cares,
if your playing sagat vs sagat and you try and do super into ultra in the corner the last part of the ultra completely misses and the opponent can get up fairly quick and punish you.
Whats the opinion on the sagat v. sim match up in ae?
I main ryu and sagat is my secondary, I was wondering if i should counter pick to the king for the sim match
I originally hated this match up, but have come to find it starting to lean in Sagat’s favor. The key is being willing to take it to time out every round for me. Generally I hate this, but the second you get a sizable lead from zoning, which Sagat can do, Sim will have to try to land combos and not rely on his pokes. Keep in mind that you should never focus a fireball, just block all of his pokes (All of them! It gets annoying, but poking does no damage if blocked), once you get a lead, just counter his full screen fireballs and anticipate a teleport. If you conquer his poking game, he has nothing intimidating to sagat. I feel that if you look at the ranges, from full screen and point blank sagat wins. anywhere in between, sagat loses. So, try to stay in either of those.
Just know that Sim has no good wake-up options. You can put out a meaty cr lk on him, and if he reversal Ultras, you can throw him out of it for free. If you are mid screen, JUST BLOCK. Don’t jump in at that range against a good Sim, ever. You should be backing up at that range unless you have a golden opportunity to get closer.
A few things about Chun. She should never be able to jump in on you for free. From the time she leaves the ground to the time she makes it to you, you could have saved a woman from a burning building, given CPR to a choking baby and pulled a kid out of a well. It’s that slow. Kara TU and TU all day. If you get a trade, good. F+HK > Ultra.
I prefer to end combos with TKs just because it pushes her towards the corner a little more and gives some space. Mix up your fireball game but from full screen I rely mostly on HK and HP fireballs because if she neutral jumps, it’s easy to throw another FB and have her land on it. If she jumps forward, no reason why you can’t sneak in a TU.
And of course, if Chun has no meter, she has no answer on wake up. If she has U1, watch your fireballs.
Ok so after AE is over , I have come to the conclusion that Yang is better then Yun , and when in regard to Sagat this is felt alot harder. The thing is , alot of people especially from the US seem to disagree. For example one ( Magneto Maniac) , wont shut up about Yun being hard for Sagat and Yang being easy , which in my eyes is complete bulls*** and the exact opposite.
The question then , is have people here played Yun and Yangs at a high level in the US , if so what do they think about this? Im not gonna start naming names but from who ive played , Yang can be put up there as one of sagats worste match ups in AE , he kind of reminds me of SSF4 cammy. Also , I now know that sagat slightly beats Yun. We know yangs being nerfed now, for example his role fadc forward is now - 4 ( thank u god) , as well as his lks not being 3 fr anymore, and a whole host of other nerfs. So , just to kind of see what other people have experienced since AE has been out , do people still think Yun is OP/ Broken? and if so do they they think Yun is a harder match up for sagat then Yang.
I think Sagat merks them both but yang is overall better char for sure. Yun is just easier to hit a higher level with. Yang takes a bit more skill but once he is in omg its fucking stupid. His normals are dumb his footsies are dumb comeback potential is dumb. He does less damage so what he consistently hits you all the time. It’s dumb.
Yun is not broken. He’s strong in a land full of weaklings. That’s all.
