Tiers for non-fighting games?

Depends on if you’re looking for just normal Challenge Mode runs or if you’re going Time Attacking- the former usually favors survivability, good base stats, and having at least one buffer and one trap spotter (IE, one force, one robot). Time Attack is all about powering through stuff as fast as possible, which generally means HUcasts + Forces, with the Forces taking the HUcast scapes so they can die for TP refills. Rangers are… well, sadly mostly useful to give their mags to a Hunter for the ATA boost.

General Challenge-

Top- HUcast, FOmarl, FOnewearl
Mid- HUmar, HUcaseal, RAmar, FOnewm, RAcast
Bottom- FOmar, RAmarl, HUnewearl, RAcaseal

Pretty obvious top tier- HUcast has the best stats in the game for what he is, the FOmarl is the best ‘clutch’ force who spends most of her TP on buffs and heals since she isn’t at risk of insta-gibbing compared to the other forces, while the FOnewearl is the best ‘nova’ force in Challenge with the TP advantage and the boost on the basic-level techs, which are the only ones that can be counted on in every challenge.

The Mid tier is mostly classes that bring something to the table but not as much as the guys above them. HUcaseals are just worse HUcasts unless they get their hands on some mechguns, while HUmars are basically worse HUcasts that can’t see traps. RAmars and RAcasts can actually do some damage with their attacks (And RAmars are probably the only non-Force class in challenge that can feel safe with their odds on hitting something) while the FOnewm is basically a worse FOnewearl except for the last couple challenges. The bottom is about as obvious as the top- RAmarls and HUnewearls benifit in normal PSO due to being extremely good Jack of All Trade characters, which is a detriment in Challenge due to the lack of resources instead forcing people into the set roles. RAcaseals are RAcaseals (seriously, Sega screwed this class over in the transition from PSO ver. 1 to the rest of the eps) and FOmars just tend to squish on contact with adversity.

Time Attack-

Top- HUcast, HUcaseal, FOnewearl, FOnewm
Mid- FOmarl, FOmar
Bottom- HUmar, HUnewearl
Rangers- RAmar, RAmarl, RAcaseal, RAcast

Rangers are literally a waste of a slot in Time Attack runs unless you get some absurd luck with a shotgun or rifle drop and enough power materials to feed him to make it hurt, but those same power mats can more reliably be fed to a HUcast/HUcaseal with a mechgun to turn them into a meat grinder.

The choice between HUcasts/HUcaseals and FOnewearls/FOnewms depends on the challenge- sometimes the raw stats of the HUcast/FOnewearl make them more useful, sometimes it’s the HUcaseal’s higher ATA/FOnewm’s boosted upper-level techs that make them the better pick.

FOmar/FOmarl can sub for the newman forces in a pinch, but their more limited TP means they have to be a lot more conservative. HUmar and HUnewearl are basically crummy alternatives to the roboHunters thanks to lower general stats, especially the defensive ones- important since TA Hunters tend to take a lot of risks.

Interesting. How come RAcaseal is absolute bottom in Challenge Mode? I figured it would be the one place where she’s actually on top of all the other rangers due to good ATP, ATA, and traps/trapfinding.

Mostly? It’s because she’s the balanced Ranger.

Balanced characters are bad in Challenge because Balanced characters tend not to do the damage skewed characters can. The RAcast is assured of being able to do at least ok damage, even if his crummy ATA will limit his equipment. The RAmar will never, ever have any trouble hitting anything, something few other classes can say in Challenge, and will almost always have the ATA to use any equipment found. The RAcaseal can’t really say either and has terrible trap progression in top of it. She can see traps, but she’s easily the worst of the four robots to bring along to do it.

Rangers are generally bad because they’re the worst DPS class for the most part during Challenge mode. The Forces can pretty much out-strip any of the other classes damage-wise at the cost of resources: they need Fluids and in Time Attack, Scape Dolls. Hunters have considerably higher ATP, wield weapons that give more ATP then Ranger weapons, and can hit enemies faster with most of their combos with that doubly-higher ATP. Seriously, the disparity in damage is HUMONGOUS- even in standard Challenge runs it’s hard to recommend a Ranger at times over those numbers, although having one around to have SOMEONE who isn’t living life in the Kill Zone can be handy for certain strategies (Mostly supporting a HUcast with cover fire to stop anything from hitting him while he munches their HP away.) The only way a Ranger is going to keep up with the damage of a hunter is if there’s a sudden lack of decent Hunter weapons AND the Ranger is both feeding his mag at any given interval (IE, shoving items they might need later down his mag’s throat) and burning every Power Material they see (Which is usually better fed to a HUcaseal in case higher level Hunter weapons or Mechguns pop up)

I agree with you that Hunters and Forces are for the most part preferable to a Ranger.

However, to me, it’s not an issue of being ‘balanced’; RAcaseal’s the only ranger who can not only use traps and can see traps, but can also actually hit things.

RAcast and RAmar each lacks in one of those two areas. RAmarl sucks in both areas and her techs don’t make up for it. I can see RAcast being better in some situations, and RAmar preferable once or twice, but overall, I’d say RAcaseal > the other rangers. At the very least, she shouldn’t be below the RAmarl. At all.

She isn’t below the RAmarl. I didn’t order any of the tiers. I think the RAcaseal is probably the best character in the Bottom tier, due to HUney/RAmy underwhelming factor and bad base stats and FOmar’s humongous SQUISH problem without any of FOney’s perks to make up for it.

I just don’t think she’s as good as anyone above her, including the other two Rangers. The big problem with Rangers is their damage is lacking, and she doesn’t bring enough of an advantage either way (RAcast’s higher ATP, RAmar’s higher ATA ) to offset this. She’s more durable in this mode then any other ranger due to the lack of reliable gear, but durability hasn’t ever been the Ranger’s problem in Challenge mode. I’d rather have one over a RAmar if there’s no other trapspotter in the game, but between the ATP sufferance and the better trap selection I’d rather have a RAcast over a RAcaseal, and I’d rather have a RAmar over either if we already got traps covered.

(Note: If it was just the ATP- which is a gap but not a huge one- or just the traps, I’d probably put the RAcaseal over the RAcast. I did almost put the RAcaseal in the mid tier for standard Challenge Mode… but I almost put RAcast in the bottom with her too, so I’m not sure her being that comparable to him would put the both of them.)

Here are tiers for probably one of the best Basketball games ever:** Looney Tunes B-Ball**

S Tier

  • Daffy Duck- Daffy is overpowered as hell. His 3-pointers suck, but he does everything else so well and 3-pointers aren’t that good in this game with the long range shots and the Vegas ACME plays. Daffy can sprint a pretty long time and he has the easiest time getting a streak with his high shot rating and his special defensive move basically equals a free basket. Daffy is the best defensive character in the game bar none since he has the best defensive stats and the best special defensive move. Daffy with Sam or Marvin are both nearly unstoppable teams

A Tier

  • Yosemite Sam- Sam would join Daffy in the S-Tier if his special defensive move weren’t so shitty. Sam himself is slow and his character defense move requires close proximity with the ball handler, when most of the offensive character have high speed and/or stamina. Sam is slow as hell, but he does everything else so well. Besides having the worst special defensive move in the game, he’s beastly.

  • Marvin the Martian- Marvin can’t shoot in the 2-point zone to save his life, but he’s still an excellent character. He has the best running speed in the game and is tied with Sam for 3-pointers, though 3-pointers aren’t generally useful in this game without a streak. If the player can get a scoring streak with Marvin, he becomes a 3-point hitting machine that’ll be hard to stop without Daffy. Marvin is also the best at baiting out special defense moves, which rapes the opponents coin reserves

B Tier
*Wile E. Coyote- Wile E. is useless on offense, but shines on defense. The only reason Daffy is better on defense is because Daffy’s special defense move is better. Since Wile E. has bad offensive abilities, he’ll rarely get a streak and even if he does, it won’t help too much since his offense will only become average.

  • Elmer Fudd- Elmer is great on offense and passable on defense. Elmer’s biggest weakness is that he’s dependent on sprinting to get within scoring range since he’s as slow as a tree sloth. Elmer is a very versatile character and will very rarely miss any shots, 2 or 3-points once he acquires a streak bonus.

*Sylvester the Cat- Sylvester is a good offensive character. Although he and Wile E. are both tied for best overall speed in the game, Sylvester gets the slight nod because he makes the best use of speed in the game since Sylvester can rush the 2-point zone down better than anyone else. Although there are more versatile characters in the game, Sylvester is still a good teammate for any defensive character

C Tier

  • Bugs Bunny- The only thing Bugs does well is shooting 2-pointers. His offensive game is hindered by the fact that he can’t sprint very long and that Sam, Daffy, and Wile E. can stop him dead in his tracks. Sylvester does what Bugs does better and then some since Bugs is way slower than Sylvester. Bugs is virtually unplayable without Daffy since Bugs has nothing defense and has too little sprint energy to rush the 2-point zone consistently

WTH Were They Thinking!? Tier

  • Tasmanian Devil- The devs did Taz dirty. The only good thing about him is that he’s pretty fast. He’s supposed to be a defensive character, but Daffy, Wile E., and Yosemite Sam are all not only better at defense, but are all more versatile than Taz. His special defense is easily negated by passing the ball. If you MUST use Taz, then he absolutely needs Sam as a partner to shore up his many weaknesses

I never played that game but I wonder what a tier list for Tiny Toons Acme All Stars would be. Haven’t played it in years but Max has to be near the top, that character’s special was ridiculous.

Was replaying through Dead Space a short while back and I was wondering what people’s opinions were on the game’s better weapons are. From a personal perspective I would say the ripper is pretty much all you need.

God Tier:Racast ,Hucast,Ramar,Fonewmn
Top Tier:Fonewearl,Fomar,Ramarl,Fomarl
low Tier:Hucl,Racl
Shit tier:humar,huney

This is the tiers for endgame…actually its pretty much the tiers at around 150+…thanks to broken RA weapons and demons

there seems to be a misconception that FOs deal more damage in ult…which is far from true RAs deal the higest DPS since they can safely use berserk with beserk needle and single target enemies with heaven striker…as long as there is one FO the RAs are more than enough to outdamage Hunters…Forces will initially deal higher dmg at low level 70-80 however at 110+ forces damage only through melee or demons ( which is best used by fonewmn or fonewearl) …hunters cant do much other than rely on hard attacks the only exception is hucast since he can actually OHKO enemies using excalibur with some decent hit%…fonwearl doesnt need atp or dfp since best resta and best demons is enough to make her a top tier FO…

ANyone here know the tiers for Mechquest?

S-Tier: Plasma Cutter
A-Tier: ???
B-Tier: Automatic Rifle
C-Tier: Everything Else

~SaGa Frontier 1 Tiers~

Race Tiers
High
Human - The humans in Saga Frontier are the top tier because their growth methods, equipment selections, and skill learning capabilities. They gain stats immediately after battle, can pretty much equip anything, and can learn weapon skills (which pretty much means some of the best skills in the game).

Upper-Mid
Mystics - IIRC, Mystics cannot learn weapon skills, which is what prevents them from being the best race. The stat absorbtion via Mystic Equipment enables them to have some crazy stats without grinding (if you absorbed the right monsters), but their skillsets are limited. Also, certain mystics are a bit limited due to the crappy defense ratings on their mystic gear.

Mid
Mechs - Mechs can have ridiculous stats if you do the Junk Shop exploit, but their skills aren’t as useful as Humans/Mystics. They also cannot be healed using regular items.

Low
Monsters - The monster absorption system in this game makes it very risky when choosing to replace your current monster for a better (or possibly weaker) one. They assume the stats/skills of certain monsters, and cannot gain stats from fighting. Clearly the worst class in the game.

Hero Tiers

  1. Blue - Game breaking during the end of the game. He can pretty much tackle any boss in the bonus area just by himself due to his access of every spell in the game.

  2. Aselleus - Has the growth and ability to learn weapon skills like a human, but can also absorb stats via Mystic Gear. All around a great character

  3. Red - Alkaiser grants him enhanced stats and very powerful moves.

  4. T-260G - He becomes a good character when he gets the upgrade later on, which carries the crazy V-Max skill.

5 & 6. TIED
Lute - Great swordsman, but kinda plain.
Emelia - Great support character, but crappy character as a hero. Poor intelligence rating makes learning moves a pain in the ass.

  1. Riki - Probably would be less crappy of a character if she wasn’t a monster race.

I got a few things to say about the SaGa Frontier tier list.

First off, I would really would put Mechs a tier higher because a few of their skills are their skills are actually useful. First off, the most important skill, PluralSlash, is a great move that can combo into itself if you have 2 or more Mechs with the skill. Hell, it can even combo with the human’s BoundShot (which is also another self comboer). Secondly, though this only applies to Mechs, they have Jammer and LogicBomb, which can really mess up an enemy Mech with a an assortment of status effects. That comes really handy in T260’s scenario. And lastly, their nifty AoE skills like PopKnight.

In the other hand, while mystics are great in the stats department, they unfortunately have to increase their HP, WP and JP like a human. So even if a mystic has like 99 for everything, s/he won’t last long in the later boss battles with 200 HP. At least they make great mages despite the fact that they aren’t able to get Magic Mastery

As for the humans, I disagree on Emelia being tied with Lute. While Lute has nothing special in the skill learning department, Emelia, in the other hand, is probably the best person in her scenario that can learn skills thanks to her costume changing innovation. While I don’t recommend the Dancer costume, since it imitates Annie’s skill learning ability (which is actually lousy), and the Commando (imitates Roufas) and Bunny (no clue) costumes doesn’t work in the NTSC version for some stupid reason, the Pink Tiger is definitely the way to go since it imitates Liza, who is undoubtedly the greatest Fighting Arts user in the game. And since it is easy for Emelia’s default costume to learn Sliding, and for the Pink Tiger to learn BabelCrumble, GiantSwing, and Suplex, Emelia is technically the best character to learn DSC.

Thanks for the clarification. I haven’t played the game in 4 years so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

TTT Tekken Bowl

Top Tier:

Bryan + various Jacks (generally various Jack first, then Bryan)
Nothing was better than that team.

Yoshi was pretty good, too

Everyone else was inferior to various Jacks + Bryan/Yoshi, though.

Should I bother trying to tier Dynasty Warriors: Gundam? Thought about it…

Yeah, robot vision tends to makes things broken. Whenever I played I made people go by the rule of having robot vision only on 2nd characters. Using that method my favorite starter characters were usually Armor King or Ganryu. P jack was my preferred spare picker upper guy.

hei and kaz are solid as well and have better power and spin than yoshi

Weapon/Char combination Tier list for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2?

How about a tier list for “The OutFoxies”? Looks like Betty Doe and Eve are top.
