I looked at the list of who posted in this thread and how many posts each person has. That’s the only reason why I’m top tier. I have the most posts in this thread.
I was always under the impression that FF7 couldn’t be tiered. I mean, I remember having certain builds for characters. Stuff like Final Attack/Phoenix, Counter Attack/4xCut or something…but kotr truly breaks everything. And it could be mimed over and over even if it’s W/Summoned. I think the mimed w-s/kotr doesn’t even take the standard mp cost of 500.
If you could mime other characters limits that’d be nice, but you can’t. Most things won’t survive a single kotr or 9999hp hit anyway.
That’s all fine and well but I really don’t want to be associated with the recent “discussion” that has occurred in this thread.
Please don’t lump me in concerning this stuff in any shape or form; I want no part of it.
Pistols are garbage, why wouldn’t you carry something like Old Painless as a backup instead, which does tons more damage, uses .32 ammo which is everywhere, is repaired by Hunting Rifles which are everywhere (and normal HRs are far superior to 10mm pistol already), and works with Commando which you most likely have if you use rifles…?
IMO the weapon tiers are
Top/God: Unarmed
- Only weak in the very beginning, turns godlike if you take Paralyzing Palm and all the Iron Fist perks. Deathclaw gauntlet ignores defense, Spiked Knuckles are also better than they seem because they take so little AP in VATS. Power Fists are good too. But you can beat any enemy in the game in one-on-one fight even with just bare hands if you want to, because of Paralyzing Palm. Overall superior to Melee if you invest in the perks. If you don’t, though, then Melee is probably better. There’s also a glitch which lets you boost the skill past 100 to do even more damage if you want to abuse crap like that…
Mid: Energy/Small Guns/Melee
- The good weapon skills. Energy weapons might even be the best out of these if you do things in a certain order (= beat main quest first so you have ammo, also get the special plasma rifle early). Otherwise Small Guns is the staple in the game. Melee is great also, as mentioned, and might be a better choice for some characters because it needs less perks, but overall Unarmed beats it.
Low: Big Guns (probably improved by the DLC stuff, but I still don’t like them, most likely still not as good as the above because of uselessness in VATS).
- Very disappointing overall; waste lots of ammo with poor accuracy and generally the damage is not good enough to justify this. Hard to find weapons early as well. Also poor in VATS, might not even bother using it with these.
Explosives is a bit tough to rate, does anyone use it as the main weapon skill? It works perfectly well for support, and Bottlecaps mines are nice for hard to kill things. It might be better than Big Guns as a main skill even…
Followers
God tier:
Fawkes
- No explanation needed, anyone who doubts this hasn’t played the game.
Dogmeat (Broken Steel version).
- Former supermutant snack bite is ‘slightly’ upgraded when you get the DLC… He’s frankly ridiculous now, basically a close combat version of Fawkes. Not to mention he doesn’t take up a follower slot, so you can have him together with any of the others. Also makes possible a glitch to get even more followers if you count stuff like that.
If you use both of these you might as well go home and wait them to play the game for you… Pretty much the only enemies who can stand up to these two are the new super ghouls from BS.
Mid:
Charon
- Weird ass long range super shotgun with unlimited ammo, probably a bit tougher than the other ones too. Can be recruited regardless of Karma.
Low:
Star Paladin, Slut, Butch
- Crap weapons, so you have to keep giving them ammo if you want them to be any use. Tend to get killed easily as well.
Zero:
Dogmeat (pre BS)
- Dies in 2 seconds against any real opponent in a fight. Only useful for abusing the glitch, but I don’t, so I don’t count it.
Not rated: the robot, since I don’t remember what he can do. Could be as good as Charon, since I think he has a better weapon than the three losers.
Star Paladin Cross is largely considered to be the best follower in the game with Fawkes at a close second. If you equip Star Paladin Cross with a strong energy weapon such as the Alien Blaster, she’s unstoppable.
Sergeant RL-3 is the worst follower in the game. He comes to you at level nine and stays there, not leveling up with you at all. That spells “bitch” in my book.
TOP TIER: Quality
LOW TIER: Quantity
I see what you did there.
Truth be told, the only reason I made that tier list was to tell Strike and TrueSephiroth that they were and are complete douchebags. Then again, I should have expected that out of anyone with “Sephiroth” in their username.
You’re right, if you’ve got the Operation: Anchorage DLC Unarmed becomes ST Akuma tier - thanks to my Chinese Stealth Armor and two hockey masks, I can now OHKO a Super Mutant Behemoth with a sneak attack. Game breaking glitches ftw.
Denjin Makai 2 / The Guardians tiers? I’m quite sure P.Belva is top, but I don’t find myself able to come up with solid arguments.
what would the tiers be for Kirby Air Ride?
obviously the Hydra/Dragoon are at the top.

What the hell Wakka first and Auron last? why does that look so wrong?
That’s an end-game tier list. Wakka has the strongest attack in the game. Auron cannot, under any circumstances, do anything stronger than a standard attack.
If you just want to play the story and not do any extra shit, the tier list changes a bit. Lulu gets much better and Wakka gets a lot worse.
My attempt at a Star Ocean: The Last Hope tier list:
-TOP-
REIMI - Awesome ranged moves, plus great crowd control, plus the best critical hit rate in the game, plus the highest critical damage modifier in the game make her a monster. She has low attack growth, but she gets the best potential damage per attack point out of all the characters. There are many times where her noncritical attacks will do 100 per shot, and then she suddenly busts out criticals over the 3000 mark. Hands down the best candidate for the ATK Boost skill manual.
MERACLE - Best blindside in the game along with huge attack and large damage modifiers on her skills. Not as good as Reimi, mostly because she’s heavily reliant on player control to be really effective.
-HIGH-
BACCHUS - IRRADIATION! BLACK HOLE SPHERE! Yeah. That sums him up pretty well. Irradiation spam rocks. Black Hole Sphere is what Plasma Cyclone wishes it could be. He’s also got a huge stun rate on his normal attacks.
SARAH - Enshelter, Enhance, plus awesome healing skills. Uber support symbologist, basically. She doesn’t get Fast Cast sadly, so it’s quite possible for Lymle or Myuria to be your support symbologist instead.
-MID-
ARUMAT - High damage and critical modifier, but his attacks are kind of slow and he lacks an awesome perk like the above three fighters.
EDGE - Only average special attacks and a pretty ‘meh’ blindside. On the plus side, he’s got some really good support symbology in Cure Condition and Symbolic Weapon. If you don’t use Sarah, then you almost need Edge due to Cure Condition.
-LOW-
LYMLE - Offensive symbology is vastly inferior to physical attacks once you get Critical Hit skill manuals for your fighters, so Lymle finds herself at the low end of the tier list. She is your best healer until Sarah comes along, so she’s useful for a while. Plus, she can learn Fast Cast and Faerie Star, so she can be a solid healer. Lacks both Cure Condition and a revive move, though.
MYURIA - Her attack symbology has worse damage modifiers than Lymle’s, despite her higher INT, so she’s doing even less damage than Lymle. She also learns her good support spells rather late; Faerie Healing at 47 and Restoration at 61! Terribly outclassed for most of the game, which is a shame since she’s one of the few interesting characters in the game (whereas Lymle and especially Sarah are rather high on the “Please Shoot Me” list).
Lymle outclasses Myuria in the main game due to way earlier healing capabilities and stronger damage symbology (symbology isn’t bad until about half-way or so through the game, when physical attacks start really outdamaging spells). Myuria shines over Lymle in post-game due to Restoration and the fact that attack symbology sucks for damage at that point; the occasional freeze effect from Water symbology is better than anything Lymle can really do as far as offense goes.
-FAIZE-
FAIZE - He has Ice Needles. That’s the only good thing I can say about him.
Kind of a fighting game, but anyone have tiers for this:

Yuyu Hakusho 4 / Tokubetsuhen (I think) for SNES
This took some time and thought. Props. But you forgot to include Mandingo Josh. I think he’s just under Midnight Wesker in Mercs.
I remember playing this game a lot, however I wasn’t good or anything. I only played versus the CPU, which is a dull affair. I really enjoyed playing Toguro Otouto, number one muscle freak.
Would be fun to know some tiers though.
- Gotta love how Toguro Otouto buff’s up, first 80% then 100%.
That wasn’t even the glitch I meant. If you get Unarmed to 100 before reading any skill books, you can read them then and they improve your Unarmed damage. it doesn’t work for any other skills.
And Unarmed is god tier even without glitches. Paralyzing Palm and Deathclaw Gauntlet are the real reasons. Not necessarily at the same time though (it takes less AP to strike with bare hands or knuckles, so you get a bigger chance for paralyzation, but DCG ignores armor). They DO, however, work together too, despite what the game claims… You can get Paralyzing strikes with the gauntlet equipped. So you can pretty much take your pick on what you want to use, but Unarmed is still the deadliest weapon skill in the game by far.
Obviously its only flaw is the range, but depending on the difficulty it either doesn’t matter (use drugs & rush in), or you have to think a little (sneak in)…
The Chinese Stealth Suit of course totally ruins the game. It’s pretty much the 100% Chameleon spell for this game even in its normal form… AND then there’s the glitches.
Alien Blaster ammo isn’t infinite, and she can be killed, easily even. Fawkes and Neo Dogmeat pretty much can’t. But I guess she is good as long as the ammo lasts if she really has special skills with energy weapons.
This might very well be true, as I said I don’t remember anything about this thing. I wonder if they’ve changed him in Broken Steel, though, like they did with Dogmeat…
