Don’t forget Samus. This is the one game I know she’s top in. She owns bosses for free, and her dash attack sets up hordes of enemies to be comboed at once.
Side-B Rock Smash does tons of damage to bosses. It can OHKO minor enemies pretty easily, too.
People keep putting Fayt at less than S and I cant see why. With the correct setups he’s literally invincible in any mode but 4D, Side Kick gives him retarded invincibility and makes cancelling Dimension Door (Which is the most broken battle skill. Period.) And Ethereal Blast to 300% damn near effortless. If you can dodge Gabriel’s moves and kick him to intterupt? Then start cancelling all over him? And Fayt’s B/C? Naw hones.
[S] Fayt, Maria, Sophia (lol, save the world kids)
[A] Nel, Albel, Cliff, Mirage
[Do Not Want] Peppita, Roger, Adray
Snake is good too, but he’s not a god like he would be in the real game. Captain Falcon’s not bad, neither is Jigglypuff…Link and Toon Link are good…
I used Samus to beat Tabuu on Intense.
I want her to have my babies.
And FYI, if you play on Intense, you learn to appreciate characters that may not be so great for competitive play.
Yoshi is actually REALLY good for SSE. Eggs, Yoshi Bomb and d-air rack up damage quickly. Egg Roll is handy for blowing past enemies, too.
I agree.
Fayt is too damn strong to be below S. He can do what everyone else can do plus more. At early levels Sidekick is the most retarded move in the game. It evades and can be cancelled into itself for bigger damage EASY. There’s a reason he’s the main character. He has strong spells(of course not up to the level of Sophia) and some the best long range and close range battle skills and an excellent defense and damage output.
Maria easily has some of the best battle skills for long range and close range. Pretty much a long range Maria never gets hit. Equip bunny shoes and top tier.
I agree with the A ranks. None of them suck. Pretty strong. Peppita,Roger,Adray… geez. I never have used them. EVER. They are better than most members in most RPGs but in SO3 they aren’t that great.
The god children are too strong in SO3.
As they should be.
Dimension door is retarded is a heavy skill.
Fayt is insane.
Of all the RPGs I’ve played I’ve died the least in SO3. Fayt and Maria on the same team=unstoppable.
Basically. Energy Laser is damn near as broken as D. Door. These two + Sophia and you pretty much say “Enemies dont move”
Back the fuck off. Samus is MINE.
Egg Lay can IK almost all mundane enemies, save for Shaydays and Floow.
I’ve spent a lot of time on the original Valkyrie Profile (speedrunning), so neat to see some discussion here. And you get the list right for the most part.
My major disagreement is Janus in A rather than B. Poison is nice, but I don’t think it makes up for his lack of damage compared to the rest of A & B.
Also, a lot of the ranking depends on your point in the game. No good spears are available for a long while, katana always lag behind other swords, etc. Kashell is actually useful when you first get him, just because heavy swords in general are so strong at that point.
Llewelyn is higher tier against very large monsters, too. I mean, his super becomes something like the 3rd best in terms of base damage.
But otherwise, can’t really think of anything. Good stuff!
VP2 is harder, as a lot of the einherjar are better than a lot of the story characters. They really deserve to be included, but I understand the amount of effort involved in that.
-Josh
Although the einherjar are semi-unique, many of them share the same moves, so I didn’t think it was worthwhile to make a tier list for them. Some einherjar are worth keeping around, though. There’s also a lot of them, so it would be difficult to tier them. If you want to make a tier list, be my guest. :wgrin:
What is about my dick that you can’t keep it out of your mouth?
You obviously suck at the game because the majority (including me) didn’t have any real problems with Nightmare. Stop being an spazzy ass and learn to play some of these games you TRY to tier.
Lest we forget ALL of those fighting games you get DESTROYED in.
Any how, this is a thread about something other that routing spazzy homo guys who fart freely at other peoples houses so I’ll go ahead and rough tier something easy to decipher: Ninja Gaiden Sigma’s melee weapons. I’ll go with normal mode since a lot of things change in Master Ninja
SS:Dark Dragon Blade: Think Dabi and UF fused into a mutant hybrid of PURE ASS BUSTAGE. It’s a LITTLE bit faster that the Dabi but not by much. It’s about as powerful as UF just after red health so you know what means. It’s so beast that you’ll only get it after getting all of those damn scarab things you were seeking out.
It’s slow though…Not like it matters if you know how to work the Dabi though. On the other hand, it does take a full 3 SECONDS to power up the UT if no orbs are present but it’s not like you’ll even need the full charge that much anyway. But if you do,just smack the FUCK out of something with it once or twice and get the orb.
S+:Dabi:It’s as strong as UF at below half life and has ground combos you need on bosses and strong ass enemies(Zombies Soldiers and Berserkers come to mind) and that UT is fucking great…even though it got toned down a little bit since Black.
The only problem is the speed but with proper timing, counter knowledge, and enemy attack pattern memorization, you can bulldoze through this game with this weapon.
S-:Unlabored Flawlessness: Get in the red and have above average dodging skill=you own this game for free. Hands down it is the single most powerful thing in the game you can get your hands on…with a few prices to pay…
First off,the red life shit. One hit and it’s OVER most of the time. Kinda fair trade but this game isn’t fair(It’s at least a little easier than Black overall though) so fuck that shit. It’s about as slow as the Dabi but you you don’t have many chains you can hurt bosses and heavy enemies on the ground. This can get you FUCKED UP in most cases(try fighting just the second Doku with this and see what happens) The UT is killer but it requires the foes to be near you which can be good or bad depending on what type of player you are.
A+:True Dragon Sword/Dragon Sword/Plasma Sabre MKII/Kitetsu: Oh so nice before you get the magatama from from that chick’s grave but after that it becomes the defacto OWNAGE weapon you can use anytime you want something dead easily but in style. Flying Bird slash is probably the best move in the game,it’s fast as hell, has next to no recovery on anything if you fuck up and the UT is good also.
Thing is,You may not want to play with it too much even after the magatma power up because you used it so much in the beginning of the game. The Kitetsu can remedy that for a while though. Range ain’t too hot but it won’t be a problem if you know how to move.
A-:Dragon Claw and Tiger Fang:Think having two Dragon Blades in both hands all the time with some crazy ass combos. This weapon is more useful than the regular Dragon Blade when you first get it since it has a higher damage output than that weapon. It also has a more diverse combo system than DS also. The only problem it really has is…
Recoil time on whiffs SUCK ASS!! Let’s say you fuck up on and whiff on a Berserker who is powered up after he evaded an attack…YO ASS IS HIS until you can recover(IF you can is the question LOL)!
B+:Vigoorian Flails: FAST AS A MOTHERFUCKER,great recovery, awesome movelist that isn’t too hard too memorize, stronger than you might thing against the big boys, has a “shield” effect for Ryu when in the middle of a group.while swinging wildly, and it leaves a MURAL of blood on everything after you get done dismembering the enemy. The flying bird move it has makes it look like Ryu is dancing a jig on the fallen foe too:rofl:!
The cons are: It cause you to get right in their face which could lead to some pain if you didn’t see it coming, the damage per hit ratio isn’t bad but it isn’t all that good either since you have to hit some enemies WAY too many times to even make them flinch.
B-:Lunar:It has some just plain DUMB range on it that makes hitting evading foes easy as pie, Damage at L3 is more that the Flails but less than the L3 DS, has a nice, long list of combos+ the Izuna Drop, has a big hitbox to protect Ryu when surrounded ,also paints the wall green with the blood of fiends. Yum.
The bad news is: STEEP learning curve since it doesn’t rely on sheer power but prowess and countering, gonna get useless quickly if you don’t learn how to extenuate the positives, just eye candy till you level it up , it’s GARBAGE against the big guys and bosses since it’s a bit slower than the Flails so it takes longer to flinch them and you know what that means if you get caught in mid-combo :GAME OVER.
C:War Hammer:It’s strong,it’s acts like a super watered down preview of the Dabi if you don’t focus on getting scarabs(then again, I don’t remember if it’s actually possible to get the Dabi before you get this though),the UT isn’t really all that bad as it does exactly what the Dabi’s level one charge does:SMASH!!
Cons:It’s slower that the Dabi, has even LESS of a combo game, you NEVER hit some enemies with this(Cat Girls), is ugly on Ryu’s back, and just plain sucks ass overall.
Nunchuck tier:Nunchuck: Was bad-ass when you first got it, as fast as the Flails if not faster, NO recovery time on anything, looks cool to beat a bitch to death with them, can make some LONG ASS combos since they’re pretty weak. Basically Flails without blades and is wooden…
BUT THAT’S THE PROBLEM!!! They have almost NO attack power so that by itself make them useless pretty fast. In Black, they gave them to you JUST before you face some Black Spider Ninjas just so they could anally rape you without fear of reasonable retaliation. DON’T equip them if you want to live.
I’m done, now for some Kool-Aid and some cookies.
Keep in mind,THIS IS MY OWN OPINION. This site is notorious for opinion haters so if you have a an opinion on something you think I messed up on, just say so within bounds of reasonable, respectful criticism.
Thank you.
Has a tier discussion been posted about Xenosaga episode 3 and Legaia 2 Duel Saga?
Legaia 2 is hard to tier IMO since you can use accesseories to just crank up stats and make people unstoppable. Plus its way too easy to level in that game and become godly. I grinded from lvl 20 to lvl 50 in that canyon area with all the lightning. Then proceeded to rape the game.
That said I think I can tier it. This will just be based on damage output, raw stats, and origin abilities.
God Tier
Lang - He is just good all around. Great arts and he can chain alot of them together and he is solid in all stats. Galea is good as well and he can use flame crest to boost his power and defense. Galea also has insane damage output on his attacks. He is just really good.
Top Tier
Sharon - Fast and incredible comboability. She is all about raw damage and her origin reflects this since attacking is all it does. Her defense and HP are a little low IIRC, but it doesnt matter since she is so damn fast and hits for alot.
High Tier
Maya - Starts off kinda bad, but man oh man does she get better. Low comboability since she can’t really chain her arts together. But she uses spells so she always does good damage to enemies by using their elemental weaknesses. Her origin can heal, revive, cure status effects and raise all stats. Too good.
Mid Tier
Kazan - He isn’t bad really. Good combos, better then Maya anyway and good damage too. His origin is solid in damage and he can raise the defense of the whole party. It’s just that he isn’t as useful as the top 3 and you really don’t have to sue him anymore after you get Sharon.
Low Tier
Ayne - He uses spirits not origins IIRC. All his spells raise stats which is nice, but Maya does that too and she can heal. He can also cure and block status effects. Again ,thats nice but Maya cures a status effect and heals you. Plus Maya has MP to spare for spells. Ayne really doesn’t. He is the only character in the game that just isn’t good IMO. Low comboability and his spells are good, but Maya does it better. Also his speed is the lowest of all the characters.
The main thing that is important in the Legaia games is damage output, comboability and speed. If you have that then you are golden.
I remember when I was in that once dugeon/puzzle place when Maya just gets her voice back…
I entered at around lvl.20 and came out at lvl.65…
Way different from the first one. In that game it took forever to lvl and equipment was expensive as hell.
Made you really appreciate grinding in that game. You had to work for it.
I’ve been meaning to play that game. Is it like Legend of Dragoon or a Tales game or what? I keep hearing COMBO and I’m getting hungry for them game-wise and food-wise.
