Shadow Hearts 3

Top

  1. Hilda
Her ring is pretty abusable if you give her Mind’s Eye, set her to Practice Ring, and give her 3-hits at 3,6,9 o’clock positions. She can one hit kill pretty much everything in her bat form abusing that setup. Plus her special moves are very high hitting and juggle friendly in skinny mode, and her fat mode gives her full party healing. Once she gets her Final Question Curvy (fat) form, she’s pretty much unstoppable.

  2. Ricardo
Give him the Extreme, 1-hit Practice Ring, and he can one hit kill anything in his path too. Also, his attack songs are high hitting and work well in combos.

Upper
3. Shania
Fusions (espeically Earth for her ArcRage and ArcSurge) is great in boss battles, and she’s fast with an easy ring. Once she gets her final summon, its insane number of hits and abilities pushes her above the rest of the cast. She’s still not as good as Mind’s Eye Hilda or Extreme Ricardo.

Mid
4. Johnny
You need him for Snapshotting and he’s a good mage with a well fitted Stellar chart. Once he gets his fusion, he can add on to the hit count for combos. His only problem is his ridiculously low SP which can make his Fusion berserk suicide.

Low
5. Natan, Mao, Frank
These 3 are playable, but definitely not as strong as the other 4. Natan has high hitting combos with his Gun-Fu Double Combos, Mao’s has her high magic stats and can do well with Crests to clean up random battles, Frank is pretty average in everything. None of them are as abusable or necessary as the four above.

The best party is by far Johnny, Shania, Hilda, Ricardo (with Hilda and Ricardo decked out with the Practice Ring Mind’s Eye/Extreme setup). The rest have to be used at various points in the story. Thankfully as in all Shadow Hearts games, its easy enough that any party will work fine without much difficulty.

In SH2, Blanca really is broken. Once you get Mind’s Eye, if you make his ring 2-hit, you can use strike/hit expands to make his strike zones fall exactly at the 3 and 6 o’clock positions. With Mind’s Eye and strength increasing accessories, Blanca does more damage than even Yuri with hardly any effort thanks to his mindlessly easy ring.

Metal Slug 6: Character Ranking

  1. Clark
  2. Marco
  3. Fio
  4. Ralf
  5. Tarma
  6. Eri

There are plenty of better accessories for Blanca to use though and besides that, Yuri, Kurando, and whomever your 4th character is should be just fine for damage output. Blanca is best used as a support character because his Manifestations when combined with his speed make healing Crests pretty much obsolete. Many battles could be easily won in a short time if you stuck either Anastacia or Karin, then Blanca won’t really need to be equipped for damage dealing purposes.

Like I said earlier, my only beef with Blanca was the tedium of doing all the damn Wolf Bouts to get his Manifestations and his ultimate weapon. I found the Mind’s Eye setup to only be worthwhile during the Wolf Bouts because Blanca has to solo those.

1 hit enemy kills for a ridiculously easy 2-hit ring made my Blanca more useful, more damaging, and far easier to use than Yuri or Kurando when I played SH2.

Hmmm. I always imagined Silver Rat and Wonder Wasp being bottom. I don’t know.

Whoops, I was up doing the tiers last night  - Dorcas is low, so many Axe men potentially end up better than him.

Hmm…

Being a fan of Suikoden series (1st 2 games WAY WAY WAY more than the rest), I really rpgs where there are many characters to use. I might check out Fire Emblem. Its a strategy rpg, right? What was the oldest in the series thats american translated? Meaning, it doesn’t have to be released earliest in America if it was released in Japan in the mid 90’s and then remade to GBA and released in America.

Cadash - arcade version

1 (tied) Priest - Protection is overpowered. Protection and her final weapon upgrade right before world 4 (the hardest part of the game) let’s her shine where the fighter and mage have trouble. Her weapon is decent, for her at least, but is lacking compared to the ninja’s weapons. The slowest boss killer in the game, outside of the octopus boss. Heal isn’t much of a factor: two elixirs in the game, cheap herbs in stores and plenty of hidden invisible ones strewn throughout, and obviously her protection spell. Her spell that gives free time is very nice (and cheap as hell combined with the $$ from the dragon amulet and inns). She’s great and all, but once you know your way around the game (and can single coin it) then she becomes a bit of a hassle because you’ll be able to whizz through the game so much faster with the other characters.

1 (tied) Ninja - Learn the game with the priest then move on to the ninja and never go back. He has no weaknesses. He takes more exp to level but he kills things that much faster so it evens out - and he’s damn good so he doesn’t need high levels anyway. He’s the best regular enemy killer for the majority of the game, and is an awesome boss killer. His weapons are simply excellent - reach, speed, no delay - triple stars give you an advantage leveling up in the following area with stone monsters (the best xp area in the game) and world 3, and swallow daggers are insanely good (you’ll never go back to the priestess and her slow flails and weapon delay ever again) and spirit balls make short work of the last boss (although swallow daggers are just as good considering that they hit multiple times on large enemies). Well, to sum him up he’s a faster, more powerful version of the priestess without the spells. Once you know how to get through the game without the protection spell, which won’t take long (believe me this game is easy once you watch a few replays and find the locations of the hidden items and such), then you can opt for the character that does everything else better.

  1. Fighter - Very underrated. The shield is his best friend. Duck to block dragon fire btw. He has crappy reach but he has the shield and fast walking speed. His later weapons have insane speed which lets him take out enemies and bosses ridiculously quickly. His equipment is costly, but you have the dragon amulet for all your $$ problems. He’s a very solid character that doesn’t really have any trouble at any point in the game if you know the game well enough. Perfectly solid character, just isn’t as good as the above two.

  2. Mage - Has the hardest time in world 4 since his spells don’t work on most of the enemies there. He has to jump, duck and sneak his way past that level which is easier said than done. Besides that level, the rest of the game is a joke to him; but that particular level makes and breaks characters imo. He’s easily the best boss killer though.

PCE version

Okay, there were major gameplay changes in this port (or remake rather) of Cadash. The biggest thing is that there is no time limit. The defense system has changed completely, and you take 1 hp of damage from enemies that are of much lower level than you. Also, hazards do a lot less damage as well. The game overall is much easier. World 4 is a joke of a level now.

  1. Ninja - Well, he was already perfect in the original arcade version but he’s even better now. His weapons seem to be slightly stronger (to me, at least) which is unnecessary but nice all the same. His walking speed has been increased very much which is again unnecessary but still nice. The omission of a time limit means that his higher xp requirement isn’t a factor any more, also considering that he kills things faster than in the arcade version (plus this game has a primitive enemy respawn method that lets you cheese your way to high levels quickly)… Last time I played with him, he killed the last boss in about 8 seconds with fireballs at level 13 (I bet he can kill him even faster with swallow daggers). He’s even better than he was in the arcade version.

  2. Mage - World 4 was his one big weakness. But world 4 is very easy in this version. Furthermore, with the change in defense, just level up a bit more than usual and you’ll be taking little damage from enemies and hazards of that area. And the mage has always had the lowest exp requirements, so for the same amount of leveling with any other character, the mage will be at a higher level. He lost his final spell (Blast) but it was kinda lame anyway. Instead, now his lightning spell stays on screen for about three times as long, which is veeery cool. Lightning and the final staff (which regens mana) means you have a homing weapon onscreen while you just stroll through the final areas of the game. The mage kills bosses even FASTER now. A single lightning bolt kills the fire demon boss, and one or two lightnings kills the final boss. It literally takes about 4 seconds to kill the last boss.

  3. Priestess - Protection is still a great spell, but it’s just not necessary. You have the new defense system (meaning less damage taken from enemies overall), and you have an easier world 4 (which was the hardest part of the game and the one place where protection separated the priestess from the others), and you still have the two elixirs in the game, and you still have cheap and plentiful herbs (although no more hidden ones). That means protection just isn’t necessary; it’s even more of a hassle now. Furthermore, in the PCE version your spells don’t go down in cost as you level so protection will always cost 30 mana (with no form of mana regeneration for the priestess). The priestess seems to have taken a hit in her strength department as well, and kills things even slower now. The slowest enemy killer overall, and takes forever on the last boss (in comparison to the mere seconds of the ninja or mage).

  4. Fighter - He’s still solid. Thanks to the new way defense works, he takes even less damage than the others (and more 1 hp damage taken earlier on). His walking speed has also been improved. Nothing more to say, he’s a solid character, but the others just outshine him due to weapon reach.

Need tiers for Thousand Arms.

RPG for PS1.

Meis Triumph–> : )
Everyone else–> : (

That good enough for ya. I loved this game like all hell though.

Yup, FE’s a SRPG. Oldest in the series translated to English (American trasnlated? Weird way of saying it) as far as I know is Fire Emblem 7 aka Fire Emblem in english. Then there was Sacred Stones, both for GBA. Of course there’s the Gamecube and Wii FE games too.

There are earlier fan made translations of the earlier games, none are to my knowledge complete, but they are playable. Check them out if you can, in particular number 4.

I gotta revise my Cadash (PCE) ranking.

Played through the game several times with the fighter, priest and mage earlier today. I really didn’t give enough credit to the fighter’s defense. Protection be damned, the fighter is the best tank in the game. He gains so much defense that he can just stroll through the game taking pitiful damage from most everything. At the same level (twas either 13 or 14) he was taking 1 damage from the last boss’s first form (lightning bolt) while the priestess was taking 14 after getting protection stripped away. But it’s not just the endgame; the fighter simply has an easier time throughout the whole game than the priestess because he just takes so little damage (1 hp worth most of the time). The priestess NEEDS to use protection because her defense is horrible. So she needs to conserve mana or visit inns when she’s out of mana. None of that for the fighter. He can breeze through the whole game just taking miniscule damage and outrunning anything that can pose a problem.

I really underestimated defense in the PCE version. In the arcade it was worthless, but Taito fixed it for the PCE version. But they made it TOO good now. I daresay the fighter is almost as good as the ninja (actually… no). He’s easily better than the priestess though. I don’t care about his lack of weapon reach, his defense is just too fucking good.

  1. Ninja - Offensive monster. Second highest defense. Range! The whole game is too easy with the ninja.

2 (tied) Fighter - Insane defense. Might be even faster than the ninja. Likewise, the entire game is easy.

2 (tied) Mage - Crappy defense, but his spells are too good. Just run through world 4 abusing the backwards hit trick. The rest of the game is a joke with the mage. But you need a routine with him and need experience with the game.

  1. Priestess - Bad defense. Relies on protection too much. Weapon is even weaker than in the arcade. Either that or Taito didn’t bother upgrading her strength while boosting the damage of all the other characters. My reasoning is that she takes about the same amount of time to kill the last boss as in the arcade version, but the other three characters can do it in a fraction of the time it took them in the arcade.

Some other notes:
-Found another (hidden) elixir in world 5. That makes three elixirs in the game. I’m not 100% sure if this one is in the arcade version; it probably was, I vaguely recollect seeing it once in a Japanese mame run.
-I accidentally jumped over the golden key in the last level (world 5) thanks to the increase in everyone’s speed and jump. If you jump over it, you can’t reach it and it disappears from the game once you exit the room to try to reenter it from the other side. So you’re screwed.

Sorry for reviving such an old subject, but what is the bost possible rune combos for the triple slot characters?

Double-Edged + Boost + Power

Ignore Crazed Rune, it’s easy to get, but lowers accuracy way too much to be truly useful.

Warning, spoilers for half the series below:

G. Saiban 1:

1-5: Gant. Nuff said.

1-4: Von Karma’s scariness and the infamous breakdown scene.

1-2: the quintessential Phoenix Wright case: funny, involving, witty, etc. Kinda loses its luster after the first time, though.

1-3: A good case, and the Steel Samurai made a number of comebacks, but it just dragged oooooonnnnn.

1-1: lol intro case.

G. Saiban 2:

2-4: Holy crap, the plot twists. I never saw that shit coming. Also had a lot of tension with the kidnapping.

2-2: Yes, talking to Ini gives you migranes. Yes, Franziska is evil. But it still had a lot of good moments, and great music.

2-1: Richard Wellington, as well as a few good Phoenix one-liners, save this from failure.

2-3: Ugh, did ANYONE like this case? Drags on forever, stupid, stupid conclusion, dumb characters.

G. Saiban 3:

3-5: The perfect conclusion to the game. It could be a whole game in itself.

3-4: The ending made me cry. Seriously.

3-3: FURIO TIGRE BOOOOOYYYY. I hated Violet, though.

3-1: Really good for an introductory case, and downright hilarious at times.

3-2: It’s still a really good case, especially with Luke Atmey’s antics, but it dragged on again and had some of the hardest objections in the series.

ACE ATTORNEY 4 IS COMING! GET PUMPED!

I liked the Circus case even thought I disliked most of the characters. Primarly because unlike the majority of PW cases, the identity of the killer isn’t made blatantly obvious within the first 5 minutes.

Contra 4 Weapons:

GOD:
–Machine Gun (2)…Far, FAR beyond every other weapon in the game. THE boss killer of the game. Sometimes I like to have two of them, so just in case I die, I can still use it. Also the only gun besides Laser (2) and M(1) that has its highest rate of fire by holding the button rather than quick tapping it.
This is a huge plus in my book, since I always prefer a weapon where I can hold down the fire button so as to concentrate more on jumping/dodging.

TOP:
–Spread (2)…M(2) surpasses it simply due to the far superior damage output, but S(2) is not to be undermined. Every Contra vet knows that the spread is often your best friend on scrolling levels. However, on most bosses it fairs less spectacularly due to the difficulty in landing multiple shots on a single target. A single S(2) bullet is just as weak as a single pea-shooter bullet

UPPER:
–Crush Missile(2)…Most powerful bullet in the game, bar none. Main weakness is the slow rate of fire, though, which means that M(2) actually outperforms it in terms of damage in the long run. Missile itself is a little too skinny for my tastes, but the splash damage (which does full damage on anything that even walks into it) makes up for it.

–Machine Gun (1)…Only half the damage/bullet size as M(2), but everything else still applies

MID:
–Laser(2)…Not a big fan of the laser. Mainly because in every statistic, M2, S2, or C2 is better.
The only difference is that it goes through multiple enemies and a single Laser bullet can hit twice on larger enemies. Still a jack of all trades, though master of none.

–Spread (1)…Decent, but far from very good. Don’t make the mistake of relying it too much to save your ass in the middle of an enemy blitz due to its relatively weak power. Try to upgrade to S(2) as soon as possible.

–Fire Shot (2)…Basically a C2 that exchanges a bit of splash range and speed for a bit more bullet size. What annoys me about F2 the most is that F1 actually has a wider bullet shot. So to me, it’s not really worth the exhange from C2.

LOW
–Homing Missile(2)…Yeah, the homing doesn’t track as well as you’d like. However, a fast rate of fire and 3 missiles per shot make it fairly fool-proof. Invaluable during certain boss fights. Terrible during side scrolling stages with a lot of fast-moving enemies (Alien Hive and Factory).

–Crush Missile(1)…Only on this tier because of the insane damage it does for only a Level 1 (it actually does the same damage as C2, which is 5 peashooter bullets’ worth). Still an excellent choice for the corridor stages and certain bosses. However, as it’s the ONLY weapon in the game that reaches half-screen rather than full-screen distance, it has to be low-tier. Generally in this game you want to stay as far away as possible.

–Fire Shot(1)…A lot of people don’t like the slow rate of fire, but it’s not THAT bad. I like it because it does great damage for a Level 1 and has the best-shaped bullet in the game besides M(2) and the Spreads. Still, the rate of fire can’t be ignored

BOTTOM:

–Laser(1)…I really, really hate this gun. Slower than the peashooter, even if you quick tap it and horribly thin bullet. Why bother? I wouldn’t hold on to this usually even with the promise of getting an L2.

–Peashooter…on Hard, and even Normal, you won’t last long with your default gun. Keeping your power-ups is the key to beating the game.

–Homing Missiles(1)…even WORSE than Peashooter except maybe in some of the vertical scrolling sections and against the Submarine.

Is that the case in which Phoenix had the wrong cell phone at the start? If so, then this case made me quit playing the game immediately. The fact that Gumshoe didn’t see that the Defendant’s name was misspelled in the sand was a testament to the shitty writing of the game and was even shittier than the writing in Phoenix Wright 1.

I really think you didn’t factor in how hard it is to use Wendy effectively. Zeiss that high? He can turn out to be awesome, but why spend so much time on him that late when you should already have Miledy buffed up? And Lance and Allen being below Treck and Noah is just… wrong. Lance and Allen when supported with each other cover up any evasion deficiency, and their respective strengths make them excellent. I also think Lilina should be higher, if only because no dragon can take her Forblaze(or any magic for that matter) and survive. Her MAG growth makes her the ultimate boss killer.

Wow. After seeing this, it’s easy to see you REALLY don’t factor ease of use or utility into your lists at all. Nino being that high is ridiculous if only for how hard it is to train her up. Marcus, shitty as he is, has some uses in the earlier chapters as a meat-shield and village-goer. Lyn needs to be dropped a it. She can’t take any damage without needing to heal, which kinda offsets her crazy evasion. On the higher difficulties she just gets eaten alive by wyvern riders.
