scrub, santhrax, matrix can afford to lose a character and still win but not sent/strider/doom.
once strider/doom doom has the momentum going, its really hard to stop like magneto since they both stay on your ass until you are dead or keep trying.

i’m talking about the primary assist character like commando or cyke. once the primary assist is taken away, the whole match changes for these teams. if you kill the assist right off, it’s like they’re in foreign territory. they generally have no clue how to handle this and revert to nothing but b&b combos.
I use Strider/Ironman**/Doom, mostly (however, the team has lak of apperances these days). The team is good, it builds meter fast, and it makes ouro-strider very deadly. You can catch’em, tag in ironman and do the infinite, a sure dead opponent, and PCxxOuro into trap does allot of chip damage. But it has allot of problems with Storm/AAA, and that’s the main reason why i uses it rarely these days.
Blackheart/Strider/Doom this was my first Strider/Team, i use it sometimes and it aint that bad either. Blackheart really sets up the trap better than any other assist i know, droping the opponent flat on the ground w/c gives you a perfect opportunity to trap that shit down. Another thing, it is IMO the best S/D team for those that are learning Strider, it kinda helped me adjust to teleport reacting, and using it as the ultimate offense. Sure it is Doom dependant, but what S/d team isn’t? Doom is always the main assist, if he dies then your team needs a huge stroke of luck. The only big negative asset i see is that it has limited tricks, now defense, and it can be very predictable.
Ruby/Strider/Doom is ok, it was may second S/D team , and i managed to reach 2nd place in my first tourny with that team. It was just like an upgrade of BH/S/D, her [a]assist had semi tracking, it was faster and she did have a good trap with Doom. The combo’s and DHC’s are better than BH/S/D imo.
Strider/Juggs**/Doom
I love using this team, it is very fun to play with. Glitch juggs up and watch how tuff your strider is.
Right now, the team i’m playing is Strider/Doom/Ryu, i think Ryu is a misunderstood character, and thinking that he is just a shadow of Ken/Akuma is retarded. IMO, ryu is the better shoto, he has great AC’s that can xxspecialxxDHC’s, he has a great AAA and it does many things. He can play keep away better than Akuma/Ken, and he doesn’t take damage like Akuma.
\
going down the list…
-ken’s ac does about as much damage[more?] w/out the super
and all shotos have the same basic way of getting in… very basic
-his AAA is 100% invincible… maybe ryu had a faster recovery… but you were very vague w/ “it does many things”
-all of the shotos play teh same keepaway… they rely on either assists or sjing, not tk hadoken,/ hadoken
Ryu is pretty good at zoning. Ken has the hurricane kick glitch. And I think Akuma is just a good mix between the two. If we’re gonna talk shotos, let’s talk Chun Li. Chun Li/Doom is supposed to be real good.
Oh and BTW, S/IM/D is a REALLY good S/D team. I wanted to use that team myself but my IM sux.
I ment to say “he does many things”. But anyway, i think Ken is way over rated, sure he has that glitch, but what else does he have on point? He can’t keep away, his projectiles suck, and his priority can be stuffed by Venom’s s.HK. I know that all the shotos have poor launching abilities, but nevertheless Ryu still has more tools than Ken and even Akuma.
His projectiles are helpful, indeed better than the other shoto’s.
He doesn’t take damage like akuma, and at least he can DHC after his A.CxxASKH into Ouro, Hail, etc. Ken can’t do that.
ehh… I still think as far as shotos go, having a “good” fireball like ryu’s doesnt cut it for keepaway in high level play… which means ALL shotos have the same keepaway. What ryu has that neither ken nor akuma has is the horizontal shin-hadoken… thats really all he has that makes him different/better
kens got a faster dash, and if you want a dhc option,
c.lk, c.lk(optional fireball)XX(across the screen punchsuper)
…:bluu: I know… I’m bad w/ the names
actually… all this debate isnt worth it… theres other characters with as much/more utility as the shotos
I tried Storm a while ago but she’s just not my style. I really did seriously try playing her over sentinel, though. But no matter how good I got w/ storm I’m still considered the best Sentinel player in my area. In fact, when I didn’t use Sentinel for a month and then just randomly played him in a casual match, I had somehow gotten better with him. I wish my Strider was like that.:bluu:
If you’re going to play Shotos with Strider/Doom, although I wouldn’t reccommend it since their are stronger assits, ken simply outclasses Akuma and Ryu. Simply put its because he is decent on point (Glitched Hurricane Kick), but mostly because of his anti air. Any team playing against another with Ken AA has to always watch themselves that extra bit because he will snuff out every other assist, hands down he goes through everything. The only way Akuma or Ryu out shine him may be on point, but playing a shoto on point in any serious matches isn’t going to be worth it. Compared to the Top Tier characters the Shotos on point either get rushed down, shot/kept away, or just simply Stomped on the head. All in all Kens AA makes him, without that he is about on par, arguably alittle better than the other shotos. Not sure if hes great for S/D, but its a cool idea to call out that invincible AA then teleport creating a small yet effective trap.
Storm/Strider/Doom is sounding real good right now. I mean it sounds good not sure if it works good though:( I’ll have to try it. I’m not switching from Magneto/strider/doom though.
I think you should try her out. It sounds like she’d be kind of your style since you play Magneto. Then you’d have three effective teams you could play: Magz/Strider/Doom, Storm/Strider/Doom, and Magz/Storm/Doom. All good teams and you know you’d be ready to take any team with one of those teams.
Ryu’s assist is descent enough to help; Strider will always need a substitute just to take the time off, he can’t handle the toptier all by himself someone will have to give him a time out. That’s the reason why i see Ryu better than Ken and akuma, he has better projectiles, you are more likely to hit with the shinkuhadoken special, and he doesn’t take damage like akuma. So what makes him lower than Ken?
Have you guys tried Venom/Strider/Doom?
^^ Venom…uh…no.
I just thought I’d make a remake on the best/favorite characters.
Top Tier: (No specific order)
Sentinel: assist complements trap really well; builds meter well for Strider on point; adds some much needed bulk for the team. More for the defensive type player.
Storm: assist is okay, but not as good as Sentinel’s.
Runaway Storm builds meter for free and we all know it. Can be for defensive or rushdown-based play. Depends on the player.
Cyclops: Godly AAA, builds meter like he’s on ecstasy; but his gameplay involves chipping with that meter, so it has to be adjusted. Puts a little more of the weight on Strider’s shoulders, but provides an AAA that let’s him be able to take on anything.
Iron Man: Like Cyclops, but less of an assist, but better on point. Also, variable tag in from orbs is SWEET!
Blackheart: Again, AAA is really good. Plus traps all around.
Builds meter well too.
I’ll do the other tiers later because my mom needs to use the computer.
P.S. Don’t let the Strider forum die!
My Strider is like that:D
Screw you sword! j/k
I really like the team Black Heart/Strider/Doom, but theres just one issue. Doom is more of a primary assist on that team since he is part of both traps. I find whenever I play that team against a good cable or mag player Doom either gets caught in a AHVB or snapped back, since he is constanly called in for both BH and Strider. Any thoughts or advice on that team?
It’s just a matter of covering your assist. Of course Doom is the primary assist. He’s the primary assist on all the S/D teams. Against Magz just stay away, and against Cable use Strider.
P.S. Get a different av. That just sends chills down my spine.:wtf:
Its just that doom is used much more with that team since he is a part of both traps. On a team like Sent/Strider/doom, although doom is the primary assist he is still used more on BH/Strider/Doom, and therefore more depended upon. So if he is taken out the team falls much faster.
p.s. By the way if you haven’t gotten it yet Ho0v my name and avatar are all one big joke.
Doesn’t make it any less creepy…
