lol I forgot where do I get these vids again? haha sorry for being so noob I probably will go back a few pages to look but posting this first lol
Kai is currently the strongest S/D player right now. What some new combo’s kai? I’m looking for nice combo’s with strider’s qcb+k.
I seriously doubt i’m the strongest S/D player at this point in time especially after seeing how Clock played at the last tourney. We both lost to the same guy (Phat Toi), but Clock got randomized while I died because of stupid decisions.
As for the teleport kick, i have a few setups with cyke AA that create ambiguous crossups with it. But seeing as my main 3rd is Sentinel now, I rarely use them. One thing you should know about the teleport kick is that the RK version will place strider closer to the right side of the screen than the LK version will place strider on the left side of the screen. The LK version kinda places strider closer to the middle of the screen. I think that’s a little fuck up on capcom’s part. Anyway, a basic setup is let cyke AA connect, wave dash, and do the teleport kick. If they don’t roll after it connects, you get to otg into a launcher.
What are your thoughts on Cammy as a 3rd character? Her assist is pretty good and she’s not the worst thing on the world on point. I used to roll with Strider/Doom/Cammy as my main team back in the day…like 3 years ago.
For fun I also use MegaMan as a 3rd…Anti-air isnt the greatest but he can build meter pretty good while Strider heals up during a tagout.
A while ago, I use to use Strider, Sentinel, Cammy (long ago, like two years ago) and it worked pretty well. Cammy had a fast, powerful, semi-invincible assist, she is an all together good character with drones assist. This is a much different team than Strider, Doom, Cammy though because now the team is heavily dependant on strider’s performance leaving cammy more of an assist character than anything. In that case, if she is used to the invincibility, ken would be a better choice, for power, commando would proove alot better, for set ups, cyclops would fit well. So what I’m trying to say is there are much better alternatives.
SNAKE
My Rogue is pretty fierce so I mess around sometimes with Rogue/Strider/Doom. GNS xx into orbs does massive damage and she does good damage without using meter.
Just wondering how Storm/Strider/Doom stacks up now adays. Ime trying tp pick up stirder/doom an dam looking for a 3rd character. Storm seems like a good choice on point b/c she can build meter and get the hell out of there to let strider go nuts.
Any thoughts? My sent blows so if storm isnt a good fit is there anyone else beside sent?
Chuck Norris.
If i used Chuck Norris i wouldn’t bother with 2 other characters.
How many strider players are headed to ECC this year?
I am.
s\d is the only team ive ever played since the game came out. I consider myself a master with the team. I cant even play mag\ storms that well. After years of trial and error I found out that sent probably makes the best 3rd character. Strider will die too fast more often than not and youll need a character that could take a team out on his own. I used to play s\cable\doom and the only time I would ever win would be if strider did some damage. If he got raped its going to be an uphill battle. I’ve even tried this team with mag\storm\cable\IM\cyke and I tried for a while with each. Each team had its problems. The problems were hurting my trap and I saw no way to change it so i ditched the teams.
s\d just needs a character that can keep a lock after the orbs. Storm would be a good idea if you know how to keep a constant lock. She can also take out a team on her own and she can work well wtih doom. Seems like a good team right? I’d rate it as probably s\d 3rd best team. Best being sentinel, 2nd being cable and strom is 3rd. I gave cable 2nd because strider can kill a full assist if cable catches them. The anti air becomes a bigger issue though. You might do well against cable based team since strom assist goes through anything but youll get raped by msp or mss. Sentinels ground type counts as AA because it flies over his head. Giving him like a moving shield. Do a launcher as the drones fly over strider and you just made a hit box wall. Not to mention if you sent assist right you can walk with the drones giving you moving anti air.
the problem with storm is she needs meter to do big damage. If you run and dhc, your going to leave all the work to strider. This is how you die fast because you dhc-ed, fucked your order up, and now strider has to fight a full team. Ok, youll attack and go for her combos. While your doing this your killing your meter and depending on the team you can die in 1 hit. Storm dies you have 1.5 stocks and you have a full s\d against 3 characters 2 of them having full life. Not to mention that strider is going to get guard breaked which is his worst scenario. Uphill battle once again. Sentintel can build meter as well as deal big damage with out using any. This is what stirder needs. Besides sentinel and doom will catch a reset rocket punch on assist alot. How can you say no to that. Instant 30% reset love it!
You dont need hella meter with strider. 2 will do it. As you attack you also build meter. That 2 will turn into 3-4 meters when strider is in. Of course, it depends how you poke and setup for orbs.
You can guard cancel s\d by themselves. They dont have a guranteed lock. Actually they do but it doesnt do much chip. If your fighting anyone with s\d battle exp youll get fucked by this matchup. More than likely theyll snap in doom and thats probably game. S\D is good its just the lock can be exploited. Youll need a second to activate orbs so you call doom. The opp goes for assist kill and might get it. Storm can do it, cable, sent. Just 3 people but its the most used 3 in the game. Chances are if you go for launch orbs with strider, youll take damage. That damage can turn into a reset or super dhc. Its just not worth the risk.
and cammy wtf? that shit gets raped. If strider dies game over. It would of worked back in the day but not anymore.
If you can block with strider, the top 3 s\d teams will all do well. Each has its advantages. as far as solid gameplay and strat go, you can go wrong with sent on the team.
I was experimenting with Spiral/Strider/Doom, works alright, but like kenzilla said Strider doesn’t need much meter to get going. So I’m kind of looking towards Strider/Tron/Doom for some reason, probably because of my fondness with Mike Z’s team. Anyone have some good info on this team? Seems to work in theory since Tron/Doom make a good combination. Anyone have some advice with this team?
P.S.: I’ve tried searching for this earlier but couldn’t find anything, what’s the best method in cancelling the bomb into orbs, usually when I try I’m stuck until the bomb is released by the bird, any tips on getting the cancel to work.
s\d ron would get smoked. It would be ok if you had a strider that didnt die, but what are you going to do if strider dies? like I said above strider needs at least 2-2.5 meters to get rolling for a while. Having strider start and expecting him to build meter gives you too many chances to fuck up. As you probably know strider can die with the quickness. its also probably a bad idea to start him first against most top tier teams. I’d start strider against cable maybe storm but thats it. You could pull off some cheap xup bomb tron tricks and it would do hella life but its just a gimmick at most. I wouldnt waste my time with it.
as for the bomb cancel. When you do it right the bomb is barely on the screen when strider cancels. Sometimes you can do it to early and the bomb wont come out at all. I like to look at striders hands because when he calls the bomb he does that little hand thing. when his hand pose has been in the for a split second, cancel it. If your still having problems, do the bomb then immediate orbs. This is just to show you where you are supposed to cancel. Your first few times you probably will do it to fast which is a good thing. You just want to get the cancel with the bomb motion. Remember, if you cancel too fast the bomb wont come out.
No, there is a way to guaranteed lock (not taking into account alpha counter). Also, guard cancelling is the BEST way to land ouro on opponent. That is, opponent trying to guard cancel (mash) their way out.
maybe more later
Clockw***0***rk
woohoo! Glad to hear something from you on these boards. You should get back into the scene clock!
kenzilla, well for the most part I can play my team with doom out in front. Sounds insane and it probably is, but doom can handle himself well if he has the right assist to help, I’m pretty sure there are some good doom players who don’t care of putting him on point. Not sure exactly if tron would be doom’s best partner but it works for me. Not to mention even if doom dies on point strider/tron still works.
I neeed moree inffoooo
Strider/Tron for the win!! QUICK AND FAST BABY!
Thats if you can get in safely and it going your way (which is really hard). Other than that, I see a descent player being able to destroy Strider/Tron easy. One reason is the over whelming lack of defence. Thats an offence team which is the main reason why I have doubts about it. Whenever you’re on the offence, you’re at a risk and Strider’s risks should always be to a minimum. I just don’t see how he can do that with tron.
Let me explain what I think clock ment about the guard cancelling. You see, when you guard cancel, you break out of blockstun and get him by stuff if you aren’t holding back. Now take that and put it in a scenario where someone who just pushblocked and is trying to jump up, you teleport and hit low. Alot of times the low attack will catch because they’re trying to jump out. There are a million ways to get cought by orbs by attempting guard cancel. They are taking a chance that makes their risk greater. That comes as an advantage to Strider’.
