Third character for S/D Thread... take a look, you know you're curious

can u honestly say that u are 100 percent mistake free? everyone screws up. like cl0cks porfile says. sometimes im hot, sometimes im not. ive seen i match where j wong messed up on a combo. and he got punshed for it. does that mean no one at all has any hope for using maggs? i dont think so. that doesent make j wong a bad player. im sure u have messed up on a few things before also. exicution is very important, he just made a mistake at the wrong time. bad luck.

Just because he is the best doesn’t mean you should stop trying. Thats not an excuse. Playing to get to a higher level is what should be taken seriously. If clock keeps comming up in topics like “clock couldn’t even do this, so how can I ?!?!” Then we won’t have any hopes left. Clock is probibly the best there is, but we have to think past him if your willing to get better. Using him as a guide to get better is good. Using him as a way to put down Strider’s game is not so good. And yes, the famous quote(sometimes I’m hot, sometimes I’m not) is true to alot of Strider players.

P.S. Clock is the man = ‘_’ =

Freak yeah! =D XD XP ><

i got a quick question for ya all. i never really knew why some of the people i play that use magneto, when they S.jump and are on the way down and im sitting there waiting for them to get close so i cant bust out orbs, when orbs are on, they try to ht me evan with orbs on. ive seen alot of people do this, and i never figured out why. are they just morons? or is it worth the few hits because striders low def and its hard to juggle people mid-air with orbs and keep it comboed. any of u guys know?

A couple of reasons are, they are trying to get you away, slow you down, or get the least bit of damage they can. Against an experienced Strider player, DEFINITLEY not worth it.

that explaines why they id it to me… :lame:  i suck on arcade stick XD time to get expericanced! what would i follow up with when they do that?

well i’ve been studing team clock and well it has many flaws, though depending on your skill is how well you can cover for those flaws. Even clock has a few thing to work out in order to get the team to its full potential. One thing is the teleport, strider telleport s the fastest in the game, so it must be used to the point it becomes an unconcious movement. So far I’ve seen noone use it without the ouruborus. I am trying to perfect the movement until it becomes as easy as breathing.

on another note i chose stride/sentinel/capcom by mistake the other day and to my surprise it works great. though strider is a little handycaped here but if your teleporting skills are really good it shouldn’t be a problem, and strider/sentinel do 1/2 the damage that strider/doom does. But on the good side you have a deadly duo sentinel/capcom and also a very damaging duo strider/sentinel, so the team in an odd way works well. So try it guys, because after all theone that gave fame to team clockwork was clock not us so we got to find the edge to get fame and great skills.

hey guys, how do all of u guys try to deal with people using sentinal as a sheild? i just try to tele, unless dooms there and i have orbs, otherwise, i just cant seem to stop him. and rocket pounch+ maggs combo or ahvb = me in smoe serious pain. >< i would like to know if there are more things than just a tele to get away from it, or just try my hardest to stun him. that didding seem to work very well for me the frist 2 rounds, and i lost because of it. when i started to avoid it by teleing, i started to win, but i wuld like to know more than just than to get around it. after a while, that tele gets offly predictable.

o yeah, it was the projectile assist type. my bad. ><

all i can say is maybe you should switch your play style when playing sent initially. if hes playin keep away or mags is usin him as a shield, try s.j. and use the double j. near the ground to get a look at what your gonna fall into. if you make sent/mags chase you, it seperates them from their assist for a bit, and you can use the priority of doom to close off their assist option until you start orbs.

that damn bomb is pretty usefull actually. use it to suprise a mags coming down on you from a s.j. (be sure he done dashed already or youre toast). just do random teleports. people expect strider to tele in response to somethin else, but if you do it randomly when you go to attack, itll help some.

try teleporting after landing blocked hits to regain stride on the opponent.

to joe doe: strider’s tele aint nearly as fast as spirals and dalsims. the recovery may be faster, but thats messed up by the fact that hes usually crossed up when he comes to. plus, if strider ahd spirals tele (QCB + lk), the trap would be so much easier and almost unescapable even when used by n00bs. it tracks in respects to the character, and the orbs will still spin (knocking sent out flight if he dont move his ass pronto!)

peace

Yes, and teleporting too much = more of a chance of a mistake = higher chance of predictability and punishment = reckless/dead Strider.

yeah snake is right Tele is probably one of Strider most valuable tools but you have to use it in moderation. Also sometimes just jumping in and doing a hp. can catch them off guard cuz it already has so much priority and they are probably most used to u teleporting around and wouldn’t see it comming. (but if they have deadly AAA such as Cyk’s u might want to avoid doing this :P)

so when do you wanna play?

Clockw***0***rk

Dang I haven’t been in this thread in a while. It’s interesting how every other Strider thread starts off with tactics and then turns into a third character thread. This one has done quite the opposite. Now we just need someone to post up some vids and this thread will have everything.

too many santhrax whores

Sadly, we don’t have people that are willing to put up videos of Strider unless it’s clockw0rk playing. Around now, we will settle for anything

Now speaking of teleporting, the other day I was playing Sanford and I was winning and well ahead. He was using ROW and I started sent against his Mag. Later I DHC’ed into Strider when he got caught with HSF and started winning the whole time. He had only small amount of health left for cable and Sentinel.orbs just finish so I called Doom…AND WALL CLIMBED!!! >:() The match was over AHVB x3 then GB another AHVBx2.

He turned to me and said “This is why I don’t use team clockw0rk”

This has happened to me against numerous top players.

Just thought I might add a little story here

And remember, Be careful out there!

That would suck. No other words to express it…

there were some clock vids from evo 2004 at combovideos.com i think, two matches of “Not Sure vs Clockw0rk” for those who haven’t checked it yet

meh, didn’t find 'em. I didn’t look too terribly hard though. Nice av BTW. If nothing else, Strider players can always say they have the coolest avatars.

what do you guys do against cable? against him, i use setn first and switch to strider when appropriate. i’m too reluctant to start with strider first cuz i don’t want to eat a few AHVB’s and have my life gone.

^^You could try starting Strider. Nothing really to fear about starting Strider. After all, Cable only has one meter at the start of the match just like you. Cable’s pretty predictable if he’s glitched. When you see a glitched Cable, he’ll most likely go for cr. lp. I like to call Doom and jump over him. He blocks the rocks and then it’s tigerxxorb blah blah blah. Don’t try this if your opponent has Cyke AAA. Then you should block at the start of the match. Once he gets away, he’ll be doing his little ghetto trap stuff. Try warping in and call doom while jumping over him. If Doom gets hit by Cyke, then so what? You’re already on the other side so just bombxxorbs and do your thing. I’m no expert, but I hope I helped. :wgrin:

Now for my question. What’s that combo I’ve seen in some Clock matches where he caught them in mid-air and then did some stuff and ended up juggling them on the ground (with orbs on of course)?
