Uninspired, overrated drivel up its own ass for preteens? Sounds like the majority of video games.
So if this generation of fighters are The Hunger Games, does that mean the 3rd Strike/Alpha 3/Guilty Gear/CvS2/KOF2002 days are Battle Royale?
I have honestly never heard anyone say “I think Marvel 3 is a better game than Marvel 2.”
Well, despite not being a Marvel player, I do have to admit that one thing it appears to have over Marvel 2 is that a much larger chunk of the roster seems to be viable. I remember from all of the Marvel 2 matches I’ve seen, it appears that out of the 56, only really 6-8 characters seemed to be viable. With UMVC3, I’ve seen much more than that being used successfully.
I have
those people are honestly not even worth replying to
I did once, but it was to prove a stupid point, and I didn’t really mean it ><
Guys that teabag/send hate mail after they barely won the match.
I forget the gamertag of the player but I Level 3 X-Factored his entire team with a less than 10% health Morrigan and his Deadpool won with a magic pixel left.
Let’s not get didatic over this.
Still not sure what’s so great about Marvel 2 that makes it better than Marvel 3. Sure, they’re different. There are things that Marvel 3 handles better than 2 and vice versa.
Granted I am not a huge fan of either.
Yeah, you’re right. Probly for the best.
Man, this comes from someone who enjoys way more MVC3 over MVC2, but saying that MVC3 is better (shit saying that is a good game) is just…
We are all treading very close to the line of armageddon here
Get Bruce Willis to blow the damn nuke already.
Give it time, UMvC3 just turned 1.
Yeah, you’ve probably got a point. By the time Marvel 2 had that it was like what…8? 9? 10 years old?
No idea. Nickguy or Preppy would probably have an accurate year.
It was shockingly fast. If you wanna know with fairly specific gamefaqs still has some good listings from 2000 and 2001
People that whine about bad ports, though they’ve never been to an arcade. I fucking hate it when I see some 17-year old complaining about an inaccurate port of Super Turbo…
It was about 4 when the tiers were set in stone.
There’s about 14 characters that are viable in high level play.
In 2k3, there were a few more and a few swaps.
It’s basically:
God: In order
Sent/Storm
Mag/Cable
Top: In a generalized order, taken with a grain of salt.
Cyclops
Ironman
Strider
Spiral
Doom
War Machine
Blackheart
Psylocke
Tron Bonne
Rogue
In 2k3, Dhalsim and Anakaris were considered top tier, Megaman, Iceman, Colossus, Ken, Guile, Glitched Juggernaut, Ruby Heart, Omega Red, and Captain Commando were all honorable mentions.
Dhalsim is too difficult to be effective with, but he’s incredibly versatile.
Anakaris dies too quickly, but is incredibly versatile.
Megaman can’t zone people due to people having complete understandings of guard cancelling and other reasons too. He’s too slow.
Iceman isn’t the broken powerhouse he was when the game first came out.
Colossus is still incredible, but a very linear character.
Ken can’t get in, but he’s got incredible damage output.
Guile is incredible, but if you can bait him well enough, he’s done.
Juggs is bad because he’s so immobile AND you have to glitch him.
Ruby’s incredible overall if you take the top 4, Cyclops, and Ironman out of the picture.
Omega’s the same.
Captain commando has one of the best assists in the game, but as a character cannot perform beyond a standard shoto style character.
There are more useful characters too. Thanos and Akuma’s assists are godlike, and they’re decent characters. Marrow’s got tricks, Jin’s got tricks, Charlie’s a toned down Guile but players like @Romneto have proven him to be very useful… There’s others too. If you’re only looking at tournaments, it looks like a Sentinel show though.
So yeah, there’s about 25% of the cast that dominates and about another 25% that can be viable if utilized correctly, as seen with people like VDO, WorldMatchue, and older folks that I’m not sure still play, but Preppy’s Megaman, Zaza’s dual Wolverines, and Mike Z’s Juggernaut/Tron/Doom
Not gonna lie, but I’ve admittedly NEVER seen Psylocke, Rogue, Tron Bonne, War Machine, or Spiral in matches. That probably sounds weird, but I just…haven’t.
:o
youve never seen psylocke? ummm…msp?

Mixup took Top 8 at Evo and uses MST, Magneto/Storm/Tron
Mike Z mains Tron
VDO uses Rogue and beasts the fuck out of people.
Julius Jackson was a top Ironman player that would run IM/WM/Doom
Duc has won Evo twice with Spiral/Cable/Sentinel.
