I dunno about in the genre, Estelle in Tales of Vesperia has permanent invincibility for the whole party too. Hell, Yuri has INFINITES that are inescapable and hit like, every enemy on the screen. And that’s not even getting into Star Ocean characters, who are a whole new level of broken.
But I will concede that I forgot about Mix’s broken powers for FFX.
And yes, Rinoa is awesome. Invincible Moon is ownage, her personality is better than most FF females, and she has a dog.

**Doctor Strange: ** I’ll admit that I’ve never been a huge fan of Strangey since I never read any of his solo comics, but he was always a likable character whenever he’d show up in the background or as part of a major story arc to remind the rest of the marvel universe that magic is real and kicks significant portions of ass (and thanks to Venture Bros., his voice in my head sounds like Dr. Orpheus). Problem is, he’s probably the least-utilized high-tier character in the Marvel stable and has contributed absolutely nothing in over 5 years except mope and “meditate”. Scarlet Witch warped reality in an as-of-yet unreversed way and he didn’t stop it, Civil War came and went and he just sat back and watched, Hulk declared war on earth and he got his hands broken before he could do anything, the Skrulls invaded and he just hid behind a hologram. The guy messed up so much he even lost his Sorceror Supreme title. Not an inherently worthless character, but he sure acts like it.
King (KoF): ONLY when talking about CvS2, since she’s actually a pretty cool character in her own right, but that’s what makes her place in that game so disappointing. Only Dan should occupy the Dan Tier.
Jogurt (Shining Force): Worthless by design, he was specifically developed to be a waste of space. The prototypical worthless RPG character; Magikarp’s pappy. Bad stats, 1 HP, and is a basically just a hamster with a helmet, which is actually kinda cool, and if you actually manage to kill something with him, you get a ring that let’s any other character turn into a Jogurt too.
Top Spin Move From Mega Man 3: Not a character, but the topic says worthless ones so I’m gonna stretch its meaning. Easily the most buggy move in MM history. What in the world was its intended purpose? Mega spins in place and sometimes hits the enemy, which either sometimes connects or sometimes misses entirely yet still takes weapon energy. You’re not even safe when using it since it requires you to body-check the enemy for it to even work, and either does full damage or some weird incalculable fraction.
Top Spin isn’t completely useless though, you can one-shot the final boss with it.

I’ll defend Chiaotsu based on him killing himself to try and take out Nappa. Technically, he was out of his league before that fight even began so props to him for trying to kamikaze.
Chiaotsu like every other character in the series suffered from DBZ syndrome. All the original badass fighters paled in comparison to Goku’s infinite progress.
That’s why I play King in KOF games. Like 2000 and 2002UM.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The twins Malak and Rafa. They had the STUPIDEST gimmick. Ranged attacks that hit random squares! There was nothing that would improve your chance to actually hit the enemy and the powers themselves work off some weird stat formula that is different from all other characters which even if you min/max it… IT STILL SUCKS BECAUSE YOU MISS! Even though Meliadoul gets replaced as soon as you get Orlandu [broken piece of shit] but she had some merit because she is a girl [the game is very sexist. The best items in the game can only be equipped by females] and decent stats. But yes those twins were beyond worthless and their story is beyond retarded.
Xenogears: The little bitch Maria. Her gear [big ass robot] is decent for a bit but outside of it you sneeze on her and she dies. Even then her gear gets replaced once everyone else get their Omnigears. The sad thing is that even that annoying pink animal Chu-Chu is good because of her gimmick of being able to heal herself and other gears [which is impossible during combat].
Xenosaga: Momo… holy shit. So fucking annoying and she dies so fast. By far the worst female character in the game. Jr is always beasting, Ziggy is a physical juggernaut and Shion… well she is the main character so your fucked and always gotta pick her.
Makumaku, Mikumiku, Mukumuku, Mekumeku, and Mokumoku from Suikoden II. The only thing they’re good for is their unite but you have to have them all in your party to do it, which is mad lame.
Perhaps someone can enlighten me on this but what is so great about a majority of the Street Fighter cast?
-Dhalsim: a walking stereotype who is constantly screaming “yoga” and has practically zero plot connection with anyone. Seriously, what’s the point of him?
-T. Hawk: I will be extremely amazed in how this guy is supposed to do anything about the plot…or any character
-Fei Long: again, a gimmick character. Serves no point other than to be a Bruce Lee replica
-Juni/Juli/R.Mika/Karin/Sakura/Elena/Makoto/Cammy: all I can think of is filler for the hentai franchise
Granted most of these chars are from non-canon aspects of the game…they’re still so pointless.
Its a fighting game, basing a character’s value on the game’s storyline is stupid. Otherwise, you’d be adding Honda, Blanka, Gief, Gen, Rufus, Fuerte, Viper, Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Dan, Sakura, Vega, Balrog, Sagat, Cammy, Dhalsim, Fei Long, and Rose to that list for SF4. It would also mean that every character in MvC2 is worthless because the game has no storyline.
