The Wesker Question Thread

i know he has one, i just never find a good time to use it. offline iv been trying to work on some reflexes so i throw out the counter. i win less but i get aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittl better each time.

Is the counter really worth using though? Maybe just for another way to get a hit and a reset opportunity. I know the H version is ok in getting past projectiles supposedly.

I think the main problem with his counters is the startup. They dont seem good for on reaction defense you kind of have to throw them out there and hope.

pretty much, thats all u can really do. its useful wen ur oponent gets predictable or has a pattern, then u cn easily counter if you dont wanna punish some other way

If I’m playing Wesker with drones, and the drones hit them while they’re airborne, how can I transition that into a BNB? Do I want the jH xx d+H gun? jLHS? And for either, what’s the best normal to continue upon landing?

id say go into the JH xx d+H cuz its easier and gives more damage, tho i personally use HS, you can easily follow up wit just S or depending on how many reps youv done LMHS or MHS if you havnt run out the hsd you can land do MH xx ghost butterfly to add some more damage while your at it. it also kinda depends on the height but thats rather lenient once you get used to it, drones doesnt push em high enuf for it to be a problem tho

Sweet thanks. I played a lot of Wesker in vanilla, but am still getting used to Ultimate Wesker, where the loops and combo transitions seem to work differently, or are at least differently timed. In fact that makes me think of another question… after ending a combo with aircombo sjS kncokdown, land, gunshot, am I correct that his old mixup with jumping air loop vs. air throw doesn’t work the same any more? I thought I heard Viscant say it doesn’t, and that as a result he doesn’t like this Wesker so much. (“Not the Wesker I fell in love with,” was the quote) Should I still be going for that? Or is there a new mixup complex I should be using post combo?

how much damage can wesker get from a command grab?

Up to 900k if you incorporate assists and end in a THC with 3 characters off an OTG gunshot when the downed opponent is near midscreen.

the problem with them is that your opponent flips out diferently, its more obvious i see this like full second when you can just think of what to do. but you can stil do all the same stuff. i like to use L so they just pop right out like in vanilla, but everything still works. hes not as tricky but has the same tricks, guess thats what viscant fell in love with. a dirty ass caracter

Can wesker build 2 bars from a command grab? that would seem a bit absurd, even in vanilla. how much meter can he build from a command grab, assuming he has the 2 assists to extend his combo smoothly.

He can get a full combo from a L command grab. Not sure about building 2 bars though, wesker isn’t that great of a battery

no way he can build 2, 1 im pretty sure maybe even like 1 1/2 cuz of the 2 assists but thats really all i cn see happening.

the purpose is to know that if he can only do a fix amount of damage, why not reward him a command grab if your character has 900k or higher health? This is assuming the match is at the beginning phase where you only start off with one meter. I rather get command grab than be force in a frame trap.

Does any one use wesker’s counter moves even slightly often? I would like to incorporate them into game play but it seems almost useless.

its nt too good to go for alot. but once youv played somone a couple times you can start usin it. its nt bad wen ur playin wit a familiar oponent. never online or at tourney.

so im playing zero wesker and doom in that order, im kinda debating if i should switch doom from plasma beam to missles, i feel like if i do that wesker will lose some of his mix up potential, what do you guys think?

iv actualy been havin those same thoughts. im trying to use both and see what fits better. so far its kinda depended more on my point then wesker. you just need to do ur mixups abit diferently sometimes

I once read a quote from Mine that said approximately (I’m paraphrasing) “Wesker with Disruptah is better BFF than vanilla Wolverine with Akuma.” Whether or not you agree with that, I was wondering if anyone with experience or knowledge of Disruptah-Wesker might be able to shed some light on why he might feel that way. I mean, I know the obvious ideas of calling a beam then teleporting behind and all that fun stuff, but I’m assuming to say Disruptah Wesker surpasses what’s widely regarded as the ‘best friends’ in the game, it has to run deeper than that. Can anyone explain specifically what about Wesker w/ Mag beam could have him be regarded as one of the cheapest point characters in the game? If I’m making a go with putting Mag on a Wesker team (I am), what are some things I should know to maximize my cheapness? Thanks!!

its the fastest beam. it ups his mixups alot. im not sure if its to that extend but it is an awesome assist for wesker, i play mag/wesker but usualy keep wesker second tbh. after a good combo disruptah is like hitting them with st.L theyl just pop out. it cud make his resets alot harder to read wit a purple blast flashing inbetween it all. might be cuz i havnt had much time to play in the last week or so but yeah. itd probly be a reason that ud find in the reset thread if theyv ever talked about using disruptah wit wesker. wich is all u do after that one tele+disruptah hits. thats where i can see disruptah being that good but i dnt think id go as far as better then wolvie akuma bffs
